The krrr krrr sound could either be battery or starter clutch, does the low batt icon flash?? If yes then its the battery.

My starter clutch fried recently after 70K kms , the Dts-i starter motor is butter smoooooth

Btw, Ivin can you please check if Michelin Sirac is available in ur city?
Yes, the low battery flashes at times.. Hasnt done anything with the battery for the past 3 years and 30k kms( I meant charge or change acid ). May be , its time to change the battery . What is the cost of starter motor ..?
And Michelin Sirac, it was widely available here , but I will enquire and reply you soon....

Wow I've changed 2 batteries in the last 3+ years...The starter motor is about 1.2K, all inclusive with labour and stuff it should be close to 1.8K.

If possible let me know the manufacturing date of the Sirac, its a four digit number on the sidewall.

If its available I'm riding down next weekend to get it fixed

Its a old issue, happens when you ride a lot in rains. Dirty accumulates near the sensor which is at the bottom of your crankcase! Just get it cleaned and it should be fine!

            • Guys. I am back from my Ladakh ride.
The bike performed pretty well except for a peculiar issue.
Sometimes when i eased the throttle, the bike suddenly lost power and eventually died down. Initially this was happening at low rpms only but day before yesterday it happened at about 6k rpm too.
I needed to switch the bike off completely and then restart to get it moving again. This happened about 4 or 5 times everyday over the 10 day ride. Any ideas ?

Ofcourse, after the battering it received- the bike is now making all sort of weird noises

              • ^^ How old are your plugs?

Shutting off while in motion can be caused due to the following :-

                1. Choked Fuel Filter
                2. Bad Plugs
                3. Fuel Quality
                4. Ignition coil issue
                5. Sticky Throttle Body [Thanks Dipankar for the below post to remind me about it]

I hope your bike is making only cosmetic noises

Surprisingly my bike was running awesome post the Ladakh ride, I din't need to service it for about 4K kms after Ladakh, that's the longest it had gone without a service or a oil Change i.e. 7.9K kms *TouchWood* . I guess my bike felt good to be in the place it was born to be ridden

                • I was facing a similar issue only difference that my bike was getting stalled in low RPMs only. They cleaned the throttle body & now it seems the problem has gone. When did you get the throttle body cleaned?

                  • Praful and RX: Thanks for the pointers

                    Fuel filter was new.
Fuel quality- i guess it varies but i faced this issue almost everyday and surely didn't get uniformly bad quality fuel.
Spark plugs: Clean and relatively new(about 2k km old when i went for the ride)
Throttle body cleaning: hmmm.. i don't remember when i got it done Will check with the pbk to get it done.

Lets hope that after all the weird noises are sorted out, my bike also runs awesome post its ladakh visit.
I am now convinced that for ladakh, this is the best bike. The zma with us also did well but wasn't stable enough. Even with wife as pillion i was pulling away cleaner on most terrains (gravel, dirt, uphill and downhill) with the only exception being slush where the zma was better than both the 220s.

Because the zma rider was scooting ahead of me while i was struggling a lot in the rohtang slush Same with the other 220.

Shame on you... Naak katwa di

Just kidding, the ZMA had an advantage with its 18" wheels and torquey bottom end especially in the first gear. But that said there isn't too much of an advantage difference.
