Re: Karizma/Karizma R Ownership Experience
Better to visit a mechanic and then inspect properly. Experienced mechanic knows technique of checking manifold by spraying carb spray on manifold during engine idle. If cracked then idle will increase a bit during spray.Originally posted by Om1234 View Post

Re: Karizma/Karizma R Ownership Experience
The crack/opening looks dangerous ,it is on intake side, if it is really bad as it seems in PIC dust can enter and damage the engine.visit asc they will inspect and may close temporarily.
Get the carb set by a mechanic if you are not sure about it.Turn method is good for new vehicles but for old vehicles better to tune it.

See the area marked in the red circle. Looks like a crack in the intake manifold. This part is usually easily available in local shops (get a local part for now, and replace with genuine when you get hold of it)Originally posted by Om1234 View Postits a request from my side

I haven't read what you posted prior to this picture, but i'd advice you take it to a mechanic and first talk and diagnose the issues and let us know what the mechanic says.. that way we would be in a better position to give you some advice. If you are unable to find a decent mechanic, check on this forum for someone who lives in your city/town and take their help.

Karizma/Karizma R Ownership Experience
On Bhai,Originally posted by Om1234 View Posti dont think that is damaged
please give suggestions
i am a newbie
the older pic was taken at night
these pic i have clicked right now
Newbie shouldn’t touch carb and it’s tuning nuts. Take it to a professional.
Don’t fiddle around. You end up screwing your bike more without any good results.Last edited by kris123456; 12-13-2017, 02:13 PM.

It’s a discontinued model. Spares won’t be easy to procure.Originally posted by punypanda_1998 View PostHey guys, newbie here.
I'm planning to purchase a used Karizma R (2012 and upwards) in the coming months in Bengaluru. What are the things I need to be careful about while buying? Please help me out guys.
All plastic panels on zma will be broken by default. If they are good, it means accidents happened. Or owner must be loving his bike. Check this. You might find a good one.
Check carb settings are working or not. Check for white smoke. Zma pistons get weak around 50k ( depending on how it’s ridden ) be prepared to shell out for piston kit change.
2012 is around 5 years from now. So expect all vehicles to have clocked almost 50k.
And finally don’t trust the meter console.

Visor Vibration is an issue
Spares is a huge problem
If you can deal with that then its ok
Also spares are very costly than other bike
specially the plastic body parts are insane
Depends on you whether you are somone who just need the bike to run
Or like me if you want each and everything perfect on your bike
if you install local parts
they will not fit properly
they will rattle
they tend to break easily
so make sure you have a good budget
remaining after you get the bike
Same happened in my case
i bought a used zma last year and had to spend a lot on it to get it back in shape
Regarding the engine ,it is best
depends on the previous owner how he kept it
Piston kit have a certain life and would cost you
3500 bucks
So make sure the piston are in good shape
Next big thing is carburretor
It frequently gets damaged,
same happened with me it costed 6500 bucks
but luckily i got a used one for 1000 bucks
So if you insist buying a zma
1.Remove seat and check all joints of the panels are intact or not
2.Check visor joints on tank they also
get damaged
3.Check the rpm
ride for around 10 minutes and put bike on idle ,then check the rpm needle
if it is constant ie not moving up and down
then its ok, and if its its fluctuating theres some issue
fluctuating rpm is caused by bad carb ,or some damaged in piston rings
4. On idle give throttle till 6 rpm,and then release it,if it comes back to 1.2 rpm
normally then its fine,
but if its coming down slowly
then again some damage
5.Check average while riding on 40kmph
if its anywhere less than 35kmpl
then again some damage
Rest check all paper work
Above are some mistakes i did while getting a used zma,and costed me around 15k in an year time
Make sure you dont repeat the same
mistake that i did
Still feel bad for myself, that i didnt had somone to guide me,i dont want somone else to go through same
Cheers!Last edited by Om1234; 12-14-2017, 11:17 AM.
