inavailibility of spares

the karizma r was a massive success
and gem of a bike

imagine [emoji50]what would have happened if the above mentioned problems were not there,
just imagine ,it would be selling in great numbers till now!
ZMA was not a success story. It’s an okay product but was never a successful product. It was smooth and was one of the biggest bike at that time, hence had some serious following (including yours truly)

220 was a big hit over ZMA. Even it sells today without any advertising and product changes.

ZMA had only one thing in its favor. It’s Engine, it’s refinement and chassis. All components of ZMA are too brittle for day to day use, including carburetor.

220 is better at everything else and it’s motor was acceptably good too. All components of 220 are strong, however they rattled because of vibey motor tuned for high performance and high efficiency.

High performance and high efficiency don’t go good together. Zma compromised power for refinement. 220 compromised nothing. Hence vibey motor.

Owned both for over good number of years and covered over 50k on both. I think 220 makes more economic sense and peace of mind over ZMA because of no support from its manufacturer.

What a coincidence! Even I've owned both!

Sold the ZMA at 56k+ and I have the P220 with me and she's a little shy of 30k on the odo nearing her 3rd Birthday by the end of next month.

Personal take is that I second with kris123456, plus after sales support is mind blowing, just recently got to know that in the absence of a Bajaj motorcycle SVC we can order spares from the Bajaj RE60 SVC's and they'd source it for you within a week.

Mine currently running ZMA's 40T sprocket at rear(they're available separately via SVC) and Discover 150F handle setup which brings back the old ZMA feel at least with respect to mid end torque delivery and seating position, low end is still missed :'(
Motorcycling Experience:
2000 ~ 2017 Y2K Kinetic Zoom (Disposed at 15k)
2011 ~ 2015 Hero Honda Karizma R (Sold at 56.5k)
2013 ~ 2014 Bajaj Discover 100 4G (Sold at 16.5k)
2015 ~ 2017 TVS Wego (Totaled at 18k)
2015 - Bajaj Pulsar 220F (Currently 31k) < Garage Queen!
2017 - Bajaj CT100B (Currently 21k) < 'Golden Quadrilateral' Runner!

The Ride was Good, but Life is short, spend it Wisely!

What I love on 220 is, ask any spare part, Bajaj just pulls it out of their stock and gives it. No expressions nothing. They ask to pay fast and leave.

With Zma, the expression I used to get was “you are ****ed, we don’t have it. Order it and you will get in 7 days “
Those 7 days ran to 10 plus days often. Basic cables weren’t in stock few years ago. I don’t think they stock these now. Those plastic parts weren’t available in whole southern India. They used to place orders once they have enough number of orders. Till then we had to wait.

Maybe zma had huge royalties to be paid to Honda hence they chose not to support. Where as 220 was home grown manic which Bajaj unleashed with good support.

still
my zma 60k kms, main engine sealed
only got timing chain, clutch plates, and chain set changed once at 35k kms

in case of p220 98k kms
i got half engine work two times
one at 55k kms and one recently at 96k kms

both are 2009 model
serviced time to time
i have ridden them to all places
still i feel
zma engine is way better than 220

in case of spares
yaa 220 spares are readily available
and in case of zma
i hardly required anything to be changed
rather than engine oil & air filter

My 220 ran for more than 50K. Engine wasnt touched. My earlier Pulsar 2003 ran for over 1lakh Kms without touching engine. Bajaj bikes are tuned to extract more performance and efficiency. They need a slow and careful Engine breaking. Once they are past this, they run like hell. Many dont follow these, so they face issues. People now a days are not ready to runin bike at lower rpm's for 1000 kms. Bajaj bikes take ~5K kms to break in properly in my opinion. (Purely subjective.)

I am pretty sure that, your Zma's Front Mud Guard, Middle side cowls (Both), Rear side cowls are broken. The carb could be on its way to death.
The tail lamps keep failing every week, no matter how many times you change them. The front cowl, middle portion could be on its way out. The tank should have started to fade slightly.
I don't think, anyone faced any such issues on a 220.
220 Motor is vibey. But if your ride it besides Zma, at same speeds, it isnt that vibey. Its a good motor.

Zma's motor is direct lift out from a Honda 250 cc bike from brasil or mexico i guess. it was a proven motor and slightly understroked for our market i guess. I don't think, i can defend 220 with Zma's motor, however 220 can run rounds around Zma when it comes to outright power and many other areas.

no bro all parts are intact
in zma what i believe its all about how you ride the bike
i always go very slow on speedbreakers
havent faced any issue
+
i fitted tyre tube in all of the frame of the joints
where the body is to be attached
till now no breakage
visor mudguard all are intact
never had an issue with tailamp
rest i have seen many zma
with broken body,
but its not in my case

rest
its all a matter of personal preference that if
220 is better or zma

My zma all parts including plastics are intact even after 5 years of hardcore touring specially on broken roads of uttarakhand and ladakh. I spray wd40 on afr screw every 2-3 months, I tune carb myself. Though I never dropped my bike even once.

You can get wd40 from any hardware shop or online, around 200-300 Rs for 200ml. Its a type of penetrating spray with lubricating property. Just spray 2-3 times on afr screw.

Dude, it’s a very good bike.
Someone intentionally killed it.

I personally like it because of many reasons. But someone ensured I let it go.

• Help needed to find Karizma ZMR 2010 part

Hello friends,

I'm looking for a front mudgaurd clamp for Karizma ZMR 2010 model.

Part: STAY, FR. FENDER
Part No: 61102-KRY-970

I live in Ahmedabad, Gujarat
I have been searching for this part locally as well as online, but unable to find it.
Also I have asked 2-3 mechanics locally, but none of them could find as well.

Any help would be appreciated.
