• Battery charging problem

Hello friends, I am facing a problen. My bike battery is not getting charged, its 9a amron battery. I had installed a new battery. But that battery drained. So now two weeks ago I purchased a new battery and this battery condition is same. Today i went to HH SVC, mechanic said there is problem in magnetic coil(checked visually). But I m not sure if he is right. So I just wanted to know what could be the reason and how to check it. It's Karizma R. Thanks

The RR unit could also be the culprit. Or leak in the wiring?
Take the bike to an auto electrician/battery shop, they should be able to help you.

Hi fellow ZMA owners. I picked up a 27k kms run, 2012 ZMA in January. It joined my D390 as a city runabout and occasional touring substitute to the Duke. Ever since I'm having niggling issues with it. In a month it developed significant vibrations and noise above 4k rpm. My friend who is also a talented mechanic found that the carb diaphragm was the culprit and changed it. He cleaned the carb as well. The issue was rectified but only to be hit with another trouble almost 1000kms later. Bike developed metallic noise and taka taka noise rich i suspected was a loose cam chain tensioner. But it turned out to be a broken chain guide and i had to replace cams, rockers, chain and tensioner along with thanks to excessive wear. It was a big bill.

Now almost after a month the bike started developing issues again. The major trouble are the vibes and noise above 4000rpm. Engine sounds very rough. Highway rides are getting very uncomfortable experiences. I can't modulate the throttle smoothly at all. Bike dips due to engine braking like the fuel is cut off if the revs drop exactly under 3000rpm mark. This is a big annoyance in city. After every shift, it takes a fraction of a second pause before the power delivery starts. Cannot blip the throttle on downshifts because the revs stumble and throttle response has gone for a toss. Is it the diaphragm going wrong or a troublesome slide?

Mechanic friend is advising for a carb swap to the p180 carb as the parts for zma keihin are harder to come by. And he doesn't want me to go with a new karizma carb. I'm getting quite frustrated by the repeated issues and I'm searching for that elusive karizma smoothness. Should i go with a new carb? I'm running 3.5 turns anti clockwise now. Tried half a turn both ways and the experience is similar
have you used p180 carb in zma?

Or if you dont mind experimenting and spending some time on the motorcycle then the possibilities are many. Used to run a VM28 on my ZMA, never could get it to idle which kb100 inspected and confirmed to be caused by an incomplete pilot circuit. Vineeth used to run off a BS32, he had a hell of a time trying to get the bike to run fine especially since he was running a big bore kit and free flow intake. There are many more experiences on other forums which you'll find with some googling.

My personal take would be to opt for the stock one, especially now since I care more about covering more miles reliably.

If you're willing to rationally compromise on the long stroke properties of the motor and the awesome seating position for better QC and product support then you would find the P220 to be a better Karizma.

But yeah the heart is not rational and cannot replace the emotion of owning a ZMA, I still regret selling mine.
AFAIK, Vineeth went back to the original carb.

Use multimeter/ voltmeter to check charging voltage.

Most probably the wire to break light is not connected. Other possibilities are damaged bulb or switch.

You can't say whether it is ok by just looking at it. It depends on the number of turns and the bike model.

bike model is 2009
can identify the number of turns
i am afraid to fiddle with the screw
what if it is not able to get retuned properly
due to lines
and it would cost me 6500 for a new one
