white smoke from exhaust at start up only with no drop in oil level at 1,000 Kms means Valve stem seal gone bad
white smoke always or at high revving with oil level decrease means bore piston and rings gone Kaput.
stick with SVC to get the problem sorted in warranty

Oil levels are fine..completed 1500kms frm last oil change...is this responsible for engine knocking and the svc mech wrote in the job card to check the engine assembly..what is that??and wht abt clutch plates and noise from swing arm?

          1) Knocking even at 4k in 2nd gear and smoke might be caused by the valve or valve stem. Check it and get it replaced at SVC.

          2) Another possibility of smoke might be due to clutch burning. Also check that.

Knocking also occurs due to loose tappets but i don't think it will be there at even 4k rpm. But also check that too. My serious suspicion is the valve system though. And i think it needs replacement.

And if the SVC guys are not looking into these things just give suggestions to check these parts and clear your doubts with the service manager. Have a little chit chat with them and be friendly with them. It worked for me.

got my bike back from the svc..the mild black smoke is due to the carbon deposition as told my mech...
also he said that the knocking was due to tappets wer not set correctly.
and also swingarm noise has disappeared as of now.they didnt charge a penny for all this work. thanks to the mails which i had shooted to HMC ppl last nite and now i get a fabulous customer service from there..

Using the same for almost 10 months. The magnetic tankbag will scratch the tank very badly unless protected by a duct tape or some sort of sticker. Initially I didn't notice, now i have very bad scratch marks all over the tank. But it's very handy during long rides and I hate backpacks :-)

                        Regards,

                        Krishna

                          • Front Brake Issue

Well , my front brake lever is making problems again . When I squeeze the lever , there's resistance like trr...trr.... It's not smooth .
I took the bike to ASC and they said I might have to change the 'plunger' . I understand it's the piston like thingy inside the upper unit .
Anyway it was not in stock (typical ASC) . The cost they quoted is 1300/- . Ha . .ha.. Why not change the whole unit , I said . Well , it'd cost @ 3000/- . I retreated saying 'I'LL BE BACK in 3 weeks' . I dont have any intention of doing that particular repair from the ASC .
On my way home I went to the Bajaj ASC. I enquired the cost of the brake unit at the top and they said 'around 1500/- . Well , well , this thingy with the price has got me thinking . In my @ 50000 kms experience with my P180 the front brake never gave me any problem except changing pads and oil top up .
Any one has any thoughts about fitting the P180 (or 220) front brake upper unit on my ZMA ? No hurry , I'll be doing it only in about a fortnight .

OT- I am dilly-dallying an idea of buying an RX135 , 5S with Front disc fitted , road worthy , for about 37000/- .

A big OT:- I know you already owned or owner of RX before. RX135 5 speed is a good choice, but priced too high. Check if the bore is running in std size. If the cosmetically good then go for it. You'll love it. I believe the front disc is of Gladiator/Pulsars.

Have a good mech dismantle the Master cylinder and clean it properly. It might solve your problem. Sunmysore has swapped his nissin mas cylinder for a pulsar(kbx) one and its working flawlessly! just flip back a coupla pages for his post on the same. It(kbx) costs around 1000 bucks! The Endurance mas cylinder should cost you around 700 or so. I paid Rs.686.56/- for it a year or so ago.

Regarding the RX, if she looks good and runs well, 35k would be a decent price!

                                Cheers!
