Yes it is good to have the thread starter (inder cool) and one of the significant contributor to the thread back ..Ravi I thought you had sold your ZMA and so left the thread...Of course sharing your experience and knowledge is eagerly awaited .Originally posted by ravi@17bhp View PostWhen Was The Last Time,You Did Something For The First Time.

Though I was not posting much, I have been observing the thread now and then. You have great knowledge and thread is in safe hands, so, never bothered to post and keep watch on this thread.Originally posted by psr View PostYes it is good to have the thread starter (inder cool) and one of the significant contributor to the thread back ..Ravi I thought you had sold your ZMA and so left the thread...Of course sharing your experience and knowledge is eagerly awaited .
You are right that I sold my ZMA. Now, I got it back for a week and trying to correct some things. It needed some serious attention. Leaking front fork, leaking head, chain noise, rattling panels, wornout clutch and accelerator cables, broken center stand, wornout tyres, etc. Corrected most of them yesterday. Tyres replacement yet to be done. Have to decide whether to replace the front fendor (broken at joints), need to source left rear blinker, which is not available. Air filter and spark plug replaced.
Seems the tensioner is gone. When I start the engine in the morning, there is a significant tak tak noise from the engine which goes away when engine gets hot. I don't want to change the tensioner and timing chain right now. Will it cause any problem if I don't change these? Your advice needed.

My bike used to go about 50kms after hitting reserve and I used to get a constant of 37-40 kmpl...so always thought it to be max 1.5L in the reserveOriginally posted by ravi@17bhp View PostAre you sure its just 1.5 liters? I guess it is supposed to be more than 2 liters. Correct me if I am wrong.
Edit: Checked on the Website. Its 2 liters.

I had the Michelin and the Duro fitted on the bike both wre TL.Originally posted by ravi@17bhp View PostI would like to know if any of the members using Sirac Street 100/90 as TUBELESS fitting on their bike; just need some feedback on this.

I guess, then the usable reserve 1.5L, though 2L is the total reserve.Originally posted by inder.cool View PostMy bike used to go about 50kms after hitting reserve and I used to get a constant of 37-40 kmpl...so always thought it to be max 1.5L in the reserve
Thank you. Right now the ZMA is with 120 Sirac as TT.Originally posted by inder.cool View PostI had the Michelin and the Duro fitted on the bike both wre TL.

Review/Update on Engine Oil
Make - Shell SS AX7 10w40
Distance covered - 1776kms
Terrain - you name it.
1. No cold start issues. Touch of a button brings engine to life.
2. Idles at 1.1-1.2k even after a long run
3. Revvs good beyond 6k
4. Less vibrations
5. Smoothness improved.
6. Maintains engine heat.
After the trip the oil is still good, might carry for another 1000kms in city conditions.
Review on Ninja250R brake pads on ZMA
These are my experience after doing long trip recently with the Ninja pads.
1. Nice response and quickly cuts down the speed.
2. Can operate with my ring finger to bring bike to halt.
3. Should say overall I'm satisfied.RX100 1996 | Karizma 2004 | Karizma-R 2011 | RXZ 1999 | RX 135 1998 | RX 100 1993 | CBF150 2005 - 2011

Bad tensioner will make the Timing chain loose, leading to timing chain slapping around...this will surely kill the inside chain guides and the chain may in worst case scenario ,jump CAM sprocket teeth....better to change before the Valves go in to the piston.Originally posted by ravi@17bhp View PostSeems the tensioner is gone. Thanks to your report, we now have information of better alternates in oil and brake pads with assured performance on long rides..Originally posted by SriramEfunds View PostReview/Update on Engine Oil

As per your recommendation & our discussions off the forum, I installed the G power plug this sunday, but still running on 3.25 turns of AFR. Couple of things I noticed:Originally posted by psr View PostIt will reduce...marginally..Go for the NGK G power plug and it will compensate for the drop..In fact in my ZMA Keihin carb I had blocked some of the Emulsion tube holes and made the AFR rich..but now i am getting almost the same FE...in fact it had gone up from about 40 to 41 Km per liter..I had also chnged my engine oil to Valvoline 20w40, which could also be the reason since I find the bike to have better acceleration...
1) Cold start issue gone - Bike now starts without choke.
2) Engine feels much relaxed & throttle response is good
3) No hiccups in the engine running.
Not yet calculated the FE so cant comment on that part, as I still got the complete tank to finish
& I calculate FE by full tank method.
Thanks for all the help!!

+1 guys. PSR Sir, Thank you for all the knowledge you have imparted to others here. Have to mention this, your patience in explaining things is beyond limits.Originally posted by ravi@17bhp View PostCompletely agree with you. A big applause to PSR from all the ZMA owners here. Query :
1.Anybody who can source an M45 for the ZMA in bangalore ????? Even if its Chennai/Coimbatore/Hyderabad , i don't mind.
2.Any place where Valvoline FS oil is available. This used to be one of the best oils I had used on a ZMA. And Suddenly even this has become extinct from Bangalore.

Along with this ... One more good oil is Petronas 4T 5000 Fully Synthetic, I had been using this since a long time and was pretty much satisfied with its performance. Good for long tours, lasts long, smooth gear shifting, etc.Originally posted by psr View PostThanks to your report, we now have information of better alternates in oil and brake pads with assured performance on long rides..

+1. I still have three cans left with me. We used it extensively in Yamaha R-15 and Karizma. Its fully synthetic and comes at less price than regular fully synthetics.Originally posted by inder.cool View PostAlong with this ... Just using regular Honda oil (made by Idemitsu) in my Dazzler for warranty reasons.
Regarding the disc pads, are the pads of Ninja250R same design of Karizma? Whats the difference between these two, including pricing?

Valvoline FS 10w30 is available in Chennai....
Regarding M45 /18 I think Mr.Sriram may be able to help you.
The Ninja pads are straight fit on the ZMA. They are made of Sintered metal and has really good grab power...There will be a hissing sound whenever you brake along with small clicking sound in tune with speed as the holes in Disc cross the pad in rotation.Originally posted by ravi@17bhp View PostRegarding the disc pads, are the pads of Ninja250R same design of Karizma? Costs about 1,350/-.. worth every penny of it.When Was The Last Time,You Did Something For The First Time.
