105 kmh is Karizma’s speed above 7000 rpm. I have no solutions to increase this speed other than modifying the final drive ratio for speed which I do not support as it is like modifying a 100 cc bike’s gears with Hayabusa's, hoping to ride at its speed.

And I don’t think a bike’s ability to reach 120 or more kms speed after riding through an empty plain stretch of 3-5 kms in prayer mantis or ‘sashtanga namaskara’ stance with fully opened throttle is its plus point. More than that, Karizma is not designed as a racing bike.

We have a lot of other positives of Karizma to discuss. Then why this nasty “maximum speed” topic? Let us drop it.
dont compare karizma with gs150r...karizma is awesome nothing to say about it...

some time excessive chain oil drip at gear lever side so just confirm...check engine oil level more frequently

To the left of the Gear shifter is the Neutral switch connector. This goes all the way into the gear assembly which is in oil....There is an "O" ring on it, and if it fails , then oil will start to bleed out....

              • Hi, Am new to this forum, I bought a pre-owned 06 ZMA, everything else is fine, but the cold start is real trouble. I am not able to start my bike (both kick/Self) in morning while going to office and in the evening while coming back from office. While running it never stops.
I reported this issue to ASS, but they are not able to solve it. After searching the forum here, i tried cleaning the hole in the top of the tank, replaced spark plug. I even tried to open the tank lid and then start (sometimes it works and sometime doesn't works). I have a KNN fitted to it.

                Can someone please help here.

Do you use the choke when starting?

Remove k&n filter revert to stock. Clean the carb and set AFR to 3.5turns. Use kicker in the morning.

You can also dovthe following since it is old bike:-

                      1. Clean the tank
                      2. Remove fuel cock and clean it thoroughly.
                      3. Check if you are using the right park plug.

Power is peak at 7000 rpm, and it doesn't mean that power becomes zero after 7000 rpm. Power and torque are curves and there will be a peak at certain rpm. Even after 7000 rpm, there is power that can move the bike further till it redlines. PSR sir mentioned above that for each 1k rpm Karizma does 15 kmph, which equals to 126 kmph true speed at 8.5k rpm (on speedo it would be around 135-140 kmph due to speedo error at high speeds). Don't argue again here that Karizma's speed is 105 kmph again; and if you do, we just simply ignore you pardoning your ignorance)

And your GS150R is just 150cc and 150kgs, and power output is less, so it takes ages for your bike to reach 8000 rpm. Karizma has a 223cc engine and has more power and torque than GS150R and so it reaches 8.5k rpm quickly and in more relaxed manner. I don't know what you want to say by mentioning GS150R here.

And, a normal Karizma can do 125 kmph true speed (speedo 135-140 kmph) and no modifications required. Karizma can do 125 kmph and so we bought this bike; otherwise we would have selected lower cc bike.

I have to laugh at your ignorance. There is a force called 'gravity', pull of the center of the earth and we are all walking on earth because of its pull. Miraculously it works on the bikes too. If a bike tries to climb up a slope, the gravity would pull the bike back. Also we all are in a medium called 'wind'; and if there is an opposite wind, the bike will take ages to reach speed. And if the wind is tooooo strong, it would make the bike do 'sastanga namaskara' and there by the person riding on the bike also do 'sastanga namaskara.'

So, to reach top speed, you need favorable conditions like plain road and wind in your direction. If these two forces work against you, your bike takes ages and ages to reach top speed.

We are not here to just discuss the positives of Karizma. We are here to discuss everything about this bike. Is there any rule that we should not talk about top speed? And BTW, its you who talked about the top speed with wrong information. If Karizma is not going beyond 105 kmph, certainly it has some problem, and thats what a member asking for a solution. If you can't give any inputs on whats wrong, you can remain silent. You can't just talk about changing final drive ratios for a problem in the bike. There is no need to change final drive ratios for a Karizma to go beyond 105 kmph; the engineers at Honda have already changed the final drive ratios of the bike to reach 125 kmph true speed. If you have any issues with that, please shoot a mail to them.
hey Ravi, thanks for the open blunt and your true views regarding my problem. do u suggest me to re-tune the bike? is there a problem with my gear box clutch plates or piston? and also my engine makes a lot of noise. usually in zma i have noticed that the engine is silent and the only thing u can hear is its appealing exhaust firing, but mine doesnt please help godbless

Check engine oil level and ensure you use the correct engine oil grade and change it at regular intervals. For ZMA's, the grade should be 20W40, oils with Jaso standard set to meet MA2 and API to SM would be the best always. Engine oil can possibly be one reason that makes the engine noisy, i believe Ravi will come up with a lot of points very much helpful to you.!

Ofcouse they are better than normal tyres with tube . They can withstand punctures to an extent and even high temperatures as long as the tyre pressure is maintained. Only thing is you will have to spend more to buy and to get the punctures fixed. As far as life is concerned, i'm unsure if tubeless tyres go for a long run. Hope somebody will help.

Lose the k&N first thing dude! Get a stock air filter fitted and then get carb cleaned and tuned again. If that still doesn't do it then you'll have to delve deeper into the engine to find the fault. As far as I know, there are many tiny tiny faults in an old Zma that can really frustrate you as it results in a very off-beat problem. If you can, just swap the carburator with a buddy who has a properly working Zma just to check if its the carb. Good luck

PS- cold start problems do plague some Zmas
