    • Running on Shell Rimula R4 15W40. Observations after 100 kms; acceleration much similar to 10W30. Gear shift have become better(I expect a little more). At 100 kmph the bike feels much smoother than before. FE yet to be checked. Also changed to 55/60W bulb for headlamp. Thanks a lot PSR sir for spending time on the bike and educating me. And like you said finding neutral has become easy now.

      • Hello Friends, an unfortunate incident happned while returning from work at 3am. I banged into a car that suddenly barged onto the mainroad from some lane. I was riding at 60kmph, and by luck I have survived the crash without any damage to my body except some muscular pain on my right thigh. Jacket, gloves saved my skin from getting scrapped and the helmet saved my head, there is a scratch on the helmet right on the top centre.

But my zma suffered a lot due to this crash, one sight that makes my heart pain is the forks have got ben,t apart from the forks the front fender started touching the exhaust and got burn mark on it. The visor cracked, fairing broken from the joint where its fixed to the fuel tank and handle bent.

Can anyone give me rough idea on the cost of the front forks? Is ths a major damage?, and how do I check if the frame of the bike is intact?

I will be giving it to the SVC on Tue/Wed.

          • 5k for fairings
            3k for headlight assy
            4.5k for Fork assy roughly
            2k for front mudguard
Other things like small parts, labor etc put to together shouldn't cost more than 10k in my opinion.

            • Ryan, really sorry to know about the accident. I am glad that you escaped with minor scratches. Remember accidents are part and parcel of biking, and I am sure you keep the spirits up.

As for the estimates of spares,
              Headlight = 1600
Front side cowl each = 1400
              Headlight bracket = 250
              Inner cowls = 300
              Indicator one side = 250
              Front mudguard = 1000
              Front disc plate = 1400
              Silencer shield = 700
              Fork tubes = 800 each
              Handle bar = 270

Forks bent mean they took the impact and most probably your frame would be intact. Si, don't worry about. Everything can be fixed to stock again. :-)

              • Thank you Ashwin, Sriram and Ravi for the estimate, thanks Ravi for your kind words too, I will be visiting the SVC tomorrow probably,

Will update on the charges/parts/labour estimate that they give me.

Last sentence "Everything can be fixed to stock again. :-)" makes me feel much better thank you.

There will be no difference in FE...but with a 15w40 your engine will feel like running on 10w30, and have the smoother gear shifts.....There will be no difference in engine behaviour cold to hot,and as you ride more ,you will assume that this is how your engine was ....till you try some other oil....

Right, infact I feel naked if I wear just a shirt and ride my bike :-)

I have given my bike to the SVC, they will be giving me the details on the scope of work and thier estimate by evening. Luckily the entire fairing does not need to be changed only the left hand side.

I would suggest you to change the complete fairing, if possible, as you will go for the insurance cover. The impact on the right side may not be felt now, but there could be some unnoticed crack on that side too which may be seen in the future

                          • I got the approx quote from the SVC, Not all parts mentioned here need to be replaced, but he has just given a rough estimate. The insurance person will be coming today to survey it.

Hi Ravi, no the meter isn't damaged. Not all the parts mentioned are damaged or need to be changed, this is just to be on the safer side until the insurance claim is approved.

Regarding the prices, I called up another SVC which is at Mahim http://www.fortpointhero.com/service.htm and I asked the rates of the front cowl, he told me the same price
