Yes buddy i did bought the bike from Yamaha factory shop in malad, service center is decent enough and yes they are profs in servicing, dint quite felt setting up the tappets, they do give excuses sometimes though... only if they are busy delivering the already serviced bikes.Originally posted by y2kluvsuu View Post@ anthony
Hey buddy, I am sure you have bought your bike from Yamha Factory Shop, malad , isn't it?
How do you find its Service Center? Are they Profs in servicing the parts like tappets or do they come up with excuses like others? Thanks.

Which Engine Oil to use for the first 1500Kms?
Until Now, I have got TWO POSITIVE reponses for the Moto Man's method, waiting to entertain more of them...Originally posted by sveetvenom View Posthay man,i intensively researchd motoman run in,..i did run in my bike the motoman way,..dnt spoil ur head with it much, the technique is for usa and europe, wherein the trafic and the engines r much different,in india, the way we ride our bikes naturally,ie varying revs, stop and go,switching off at signals, thats the perfect way to run in,the first 35kms,i did take it upto 7.5k revs,my bike is perfect ,may be the only draw back is my tappets needed readjustment at 1.6k kms,but other than that,it runs like a dream.
Hey, thanks Dude!! Well, can you please name a few Engine Oils that you have used for the first 1500Kms as stated by Moto Man ?
As he recommends Petroleum Engine Oil for this part of Run-In, could you please suggest some very common brands for the same ?

Stick to what yamaha provides for now... i changed my bikes oil @50kms then @450kms then again @1000kms(first service) then continued riding till the next service and got it changed @3000kms. And don't forget to change the oil filter along with the oil.Originally posted by y2kluvsuu View PostHey anthony, could you also please suggest some Engine Oils for the period (1500Kms) mentioned by Moto Man?

Today morning in Pune, a terrible sounding Blue R15 overtook me. I was surprised to hear that R15 sounding like a two stroker (that too an ill one). from the back, the parts were seen bit rattling (the tail lamp and the whole rear section). When I got near the bike and saw the speedo, I was shocked to see FZ speedometer!! Then I realized it is a modified 2 stroker (may be RX 100/135, didn't identify by the sound) to become an R15. Though the body kit was perfectly fitted (of course with all the rattling pieces), I wonder how would be the performance, as couldn't see whether the owner fit the fan in front. If not, then wonder how the air cooled two stroke engine would behave in a tightly packed R15's body.

If it was, I can give you his contact details, if you want to see that bike up close
And God said, "Let there be light" and there was HID Kit. And God saw that the light was good;

Had been to Bombay this weekend (again). Thanks a lot to Satyen, that he had a nice close look at my bike, rode it, advised me to adjust tappet clearance (which I would never have thought of otherwise) & told me that everything else is OK.
That certainly puts my mind to rest! Thanks Satyen!And God said, "Let there be light" and there was HID Kit. And God saw that the light was good;

+1 on that..Originally posted by kimikid View PostUmm anyone from Bangalore who'd gone for the "Racing Ridetech Challenge" at Palace Grounds today? Anything interesting or worth mentioning? I'm surprised there's not been much spoken about it here!
I too couldn't find time to go for it! Would have gone if I had some time, would not have been able to participate though (I'm still running in my bike)!
BTW guys, I completed 500 KMs on my bike, and got the chain lubed today!
The SVC (Perfect Riders, Lalbagh Road) charged me 100 bucks for it.. they used the Motul chain spray..
As far as I know, 50 bucks is what they charge in other SVCs, right?
Anyone from Bangalore got it done elsewhere, for lesser? (Not that the difference of 50 bucks matters too much, but just to know if this SVC is overcharging for the lubing)

The pleasure is when your rear wheel slides, and you bring it back; and when the front wheel lifts, you take your time bringing it back.

I am a regular at Perfect Riders too.... I have had nothing but awful service rendered to me by them. First they gave me a bike with no reflector for one of the pilot lamps(which I spotted at delivery itself but was told since bike was already registered in my name,it can't be changed and hence they'd promptly replace the missing part),made me run around to get that bloody thing until a a few days back;its been almost three months and I still haven't got my RC book;they did absolutely nothing but wash my bike during first service! All in all a forgettable experience with them. Would strongly suggest ppl to stay away from that place. I'm gonna try Pacer for my next service. Although as far as I know, all SVCs charge 100 bucks itself for the chain cleaning and lubing!

I thought Perfect Riders was good (if not Perfect
)..
Missing reflector & 3 months for RC Book -
Regarding my RC Book, they've told me 2 months.. & for the Insurance papers, they have told 1 month..
You should have got your bike serviced in front of you bro (If they don't allow you in the service area, you should have atleast been there at the SVC. This way they can't take us for a ride atleast
).. & As much as I have experienced, all the SVCs (of any two-wheeler company) are cheats.. So we better beware..
Do let me know about your experience at Pacer..
Its for your 2nd service I guess..

I just love such posts!
So what was your point again, and may be once a while its a good thing to stop generalizing stuff.
I end up generalizing because I am not an R15 owner..just a spectator of this thread as of now.
You do own one don't you?
Wonder how you enjoy it?You don't sound too happy with the R15s performance
.
The R15 doesnt jump away in the traffic, it doesnt 'perform' flawlessly, infact it has the worst midrange and low end pull of all the bikes that I have ridden!
Yeah thats exactly the point..
we want low and mid range due to our constant daily bike using life style..
R15 sadly is too of a much top end power bike.
bikes like the R15 are too track oriented and our daily office rides never take us anywhere near a racetrack like road..unless you find one for yourself.

R15 vs Karizma
Hey Guys,..
I live in kottayam kerala...last friday..my friend and me,went on a pleasure trip to vagamon(high range..around 85kms from my place) on my R15...Note:he has a karizma....He rode my bike and when we started climbing..the bike started to struggle ..pulling both of us....and he started irritating
me with comments like.." You wasted your money, going for a bike that lacks power..try my karizma out
,experience its acceleration .."... It was true the bike was struggling to pull both of us uphill....
We reached back after the trip...I got my chance to test his highly hyped
(by him) karizma....Rode that for around 2-3mins and the first feeling was LACK OF Confidence
...I was really scared
to take sharp turns at 60-70kmph and was absolutely out of confidence after reaching 80kmph...
Thats when I realised..that I have made a great decision going for R15
...
After that..he rode his karizma himself....and I noticed his face go down
...he had to agree that R15 is a great bike
...
But after all these...I have to say...karizma has a lot of power..to accelerate with both of us on it...but R15 lacks that..and I felt that Karizmas initial acceleration was also better than R15...
I've seen people, saying that R15 has a 0-60kmph time lesser than Karizma...is that really true...because I felt that Karizma was quicker initially....
Anyway I'm loving my bike..its awesome
..and I completed 910 kms in 2weeks(of which, she was resting, covered in the shed for 5days due to rain
)...
And guys...Ist service after completing 1000kms rite???
