Bike has gone a lil harsh. Performs good as before. Returns me a average of 48KM/L, It was around 42km/l after the first service and 36km/l before the first service. This bike opens up as the days go. I used to wonder how these guys get 40km/l whereas i get around 35km/l before the first service but now i understand. I'm proud of my babe.

No issues faced, No engine probs, Disk pad looks like brand new.

got the headlight beam adjusted yesterday. Its good now.

    Thanks,
    Rajesh
Congrats on reaching (or rather breaching ) the 2k mark.. Encoraging stuff I must say..
Me too not happy with the stock headlight-beam setting.. Not much of a bother as of now cuz I don't commute much after dark.. Will get the beam adjusted at the bike's 1st service though..

BTW, I have just completed 400Kms on my bike.. The fuel indicator reached the last bar just this morning.. Time to tank up .. Will update the FE by tomo..

I lost it on a place very far away from my house. Moreover 6 months have passed&nothing has happened. I guess the 'keen observer' also would have given up by now!

        Okay

Anyways, did u check the price for a duplicate key? For all u know they might cost you say half of what the full lockset might cost

        Just my advise
When everything comes ur way, u r in the wrong way ;)

How can I check the price when they are telling me its not even possible to give me a duplicate key? All I have is an offer to procure a lockset for Rs.1000&the manual on the other hand stating 'Please record your key no.in the space given below&use it to order a new key'

Why dont u just give the key to ur local key-maker and get one fabricated. Make sure u do not leave the place till he does it and see to it the cast is destroyed. Similar scenario happened with my SCORPIO and the showroom guys asked me to get one made outside. Getting one from the company is a hassle. U will be lucky if u can get it done!

Getting it done outside is too much of a risk buddy-he may not tell me, but may take an impression somewhere else-that would be like giving him an opportunity!
And in anycase, even if he does manage to make it, it will look fugly compared to the original&also the rough edges will spoil the original lock from inside. I will eventually have to change the lockset.
As of now I have spoken to the Area Sales Manager sometime back. I gave him 2 options:
              1. Provide a spare key
              2. Provide atleast the plank, Pearl Yamaha will make the duplicate by putting my existing key alongside

If both do not work out, I have no option other than to change the lockset.

Come on yaar.. Why do you need to show him the bike you own. Just take the other key alone, so he won't even know about the bike. He can't go around checking the key with all the bike in the street. regarding the roughness, there are experienced key makers who make almost perfect keys(even with black head with Yam logo)

                  • Yamaha is working hard on getting aftermarket kits for the R15. The first in line is the full exhuast setup that will not only weigh less but also bump the power slightly. Sources have told that the first consignment will be here in India(yes, the developement is taking place in the land of the rising sun) early next month. With this, Yamaha will be the first in India to offer company branded aftermarket performance kits. We are sure there are hundreds of owners out there looking at purchasing such add-ons for their R15s.

                    • @ tibby- thanks

@ Dasco- that would make the black mask very unstable. I'd suggest finding a way to cover just the area under the speedometer with the black plastic thats clipped to the transparent visor. EG: Check the red outlined area:

@ Pratik- The oven is the only way to open these kind of sealed headlight units. Basically the idea is to heat the unit (with both bulbs and wiring removed!) till the adhesive softens, and using a sharp object to slowly pry the unit open.

Problem? Finding a large enough oven, because both headlights are joined as a single unit. My OTG gave up trying to swallow just one of them! BTW where did you get the plastic rods (later shaped as rings) for the angel eyes? I too tried finding a lot, but am unsuccessful. And have you checked them? And they are working?

I doubt that bit buddy...but I'll still give it a try if Yamaha turns me down!

comeon anna.......just go and getting it done rather than being behind their asses to get a key from the company.......i have made 2 extra keys (for the locksets which were changed twice under warrenty). I just bought a blank key from the SVC and handed it over to the key maker.....its a simple two min job.

Besides naveen lost his key quiet sometime back......he is now using a key made by a local key maker!

If they give me a blank key also I'm very much happy with it yaar! But they are only saying they don't have any blank keys&forcing me to change the lockset!
