  • Guys my 2nd servicing is done today

The yamaha people didnt have Yamalube sSS or motul 5100 SS oil with them

so they gave me an option to use Yamalube Mineral oil or Motul 3000 4t SS

They said both are same ...

PS : I used Yamalube SS in 1st servicing

I wanted to know whether is it ok for the bike?

The parts that were changed under warranty are:
      1) The fairings on both sides, & the side panels - The new ones have minute changes in shape, & I believe are of a stronger material. No visible changes.
      2) Black platsic panel behind the front wheel, & below the radiator - The new one has a mesh, as someone had posted earlier.

All the above parts were sent by Yamaha in 1 single carton, with a part number & the part name as "R15 Burning Kit ..."

I was told that all 2008 & 2009 models of the R15 are eligible for the change.
its a good news that fairing comes under the warranty and now the bike will look like new and what about the fuel tank ?

If the part in bold is true, there is no point in having ABS as the damage is already done once the wheel locks up.
Do take time out to read through the links I shared in my 2nd last post here.

From what I have learnt heere, thats a recipe for disaster.
Do take time out to read through the links I shared in my 2nd last post here. There is even a discussion between n_aditya & TenHut on 'pumping the brakes like ABS'.
Machines can replace manual work, but manual work can't be a substitute for all machines.

Where did the fuel tank come from!
If you manage to find some manufacturing issue with the fuel tank, trust me Yamaha will replace it under warranty. I had mine changed on an earlier instance, & this wasn't a blanket replacement as is being done right now for the fairings.
Please don't ask next for replacement of other body parts.

        My views on the YZF-R15 V2.0: http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/news/198...tml#post699240

The pleasure is when your rear wheel slides, and you bring it back; and when the front wheel lifts, you take your time bringing it back.

by idle i meant that abs system is just monitoring the bike speed with the wheel speed . it does not do anything on normal braking . it starts to function just when the front tire is on the verge of locking up and releases the brake hydraulic pressure . it is quick and can release and engage hydraulic pressure more than 10 times in a second bases on wheel sensor inputs .

          • Hi, I picked up a barely used R-15 last Monday night, now the original owner had done a couple of mods to the bike, firstly he had removed the Sari guard thing, which saves me the trouble. Secondly he has put the rear tyre up front and plonked a MRF Zapper Vyde 120/80 on the back, do I put the rear tyre back and get a new front tyre or should I leave it be, both tyres have run less than 2.5k km's.

Please bear in mind that I am a novice to motorcycles, so won't be pushing the bike for quite a while, also just about an 'Uncle' and to add to that the safe riding commercials that I used to watch whilst living in England are still in my mind, so by local standards, my riding style is fairly different.

Oh yeah as the low beam really sucks on this bike, what is my best option to upgrade?

Statistics show that more than 75 % of violent crimes are committed within 24 hours of eating bread !
Bread is known to be extremely addictive. Subjects deprived of bread and given only water, actually begged for bread after just two days !

Has he cut the swing arm to fit the wider rear tyre? If yes, beware!

Best is HID + proj! Else, riding on HI beam when really needed is a short term way out.

The swing arm is still stock, the clearance is around 1mm or less, should I change the tyres back to stock?

With HID, should I just of for the left light on low beam, as the headlight flashing needs to be used too often here and flashing the high beam on hid may not work? or am I missing something here?

I think you should! How does the bike handle on curves? Does she corner "all by itself" at any speed? That is how the stock bike behaves.

H4 HIDs used on stock reflectors will have a solenoid to shift between HI & LOW.

For use with bixenon projectors, the HID will be like a simple single filament bulb - H1/H3/H7 etc. Here, the projector has the solenoid for HI/LOW function.

In both cases, flashing will be the same/faster than halogens.

But if the H4 HID has 2 seperate filaments, it will take time to heat up.

need to upgrade the battery for HID+projector other wise no full performance will get

Please shift back to stock tyres. That is your best option. Hope you got a thorough service done. Enjoy the bike.
You can take the ride away from me but you cannot take the rider out of my soul.........

                        .
Very difficult to tell for me as a novice, whilst the grip is good, i get a slightly uneasy feeling at times, maybe because of inexperience or maybe having the rear tyre up front, i have seen a few R-15's here with the exact same set up, not much point asking though as it's more about ego's than actual performance. Think I will go for the stock set up.
