    • Pulsar 200 overhaul

      Hi all,

      Today i visited PBK for regular servicing and my machine has done 25k.So the service engineer @ PBK says you have to de-carbonize the engine.It should be done actually @ 15k.Is it so?Please help?

            i'm new here___
            i have pulsar 200 2009 model in chandigarh
            i here want to ask what type of modification i should do to increase the performance of bike____i have already installed K&N filter R1060 but it didn't effect so much can i get the answer wht this happening

              I have had quite a bad experience with regard to playing with the 200's engine

              Last year June I had K&N RC 1060 installed in the bike.And with just a high flow air filter I expected an increase in power output and the result was NO !
              I read a few post about jetting process and related stuff and came to know about a good mechanic who was a specialist in performance tuning here in Mysore.
              I got in touch with him and got the jetting work done by August.
              And this January I got the whole setup removed and got the bike back to stock.
              And my observations in the 7-8months period was:
              Drawbacks:
              1. No drastic improvement in performance.In fact a few times I couldnt cross the 110kmph mark with pillion.
              2. A huge drop down in mileage.
              3. Top speed affected....earlier in stock I had done upto 132kmph but from the day I got the K&N setup I could manage only 110-115kmph single and with a pillion I wasnt able to cross 110kmph.....that hurt me the most.
              4.After a small ride say about 10km or so I use to get a lot of tapping sound ! Never had this problem earlier but from the day I got the K&N setup Im having this problem.......its still existing in spite of getting the K&N removed and getting the Shell Advance Semi-Synthetic oil.

              Only good thing I had when I had the K&N setup in the bike was the throttle response.....it was butter smooth.....the initial acceleration up to 4K-5KRPM was nice.....
              And yes everytime I open the throttle the sound used to attract a lot of attention especially near the college !
              For all this I had wasted nearly 2K-2.5K.
              Some people might have had wonderful experience with the K&N setup......but it was definitely not my piece of cake

                If you are still very much interested in performance tuning then you need to probably change:
                1.Exhaust System and pipe......in general install a Free flow exhaust system
                2.ECU.
                3.Cam Shift.
                4.And some changes to the body too.....not sure what it is though.

                      NGK plugs cost INR 550 a piece.

                      don't remember how much the cables cost.

                      exact gain? better throttle response... it's a noticeable difference.

                      got no other proof of any kinda "gains" tho.

                      • I got a wierd problem with my speedo console. The figures that is being displayed are way to less than the actual speed. I got my meter cable changed but the problem persists till now.
                        Need a lil help on this. What's wrong with the console

                        • I am running on a k&n rc 1060 and I wanted to confirm weather this is the suitable model for the p200s. And in Mumbai is there a particular place where I can get my filter serviced. Coz the k&n cleaning kit costs a bomb on the pocket

                            bro since pulsar 200 uses carburetor for fuel supply u cannot add or upgrade ECU. ECU is used in fuel injected bikes not carb ones.
