    It's only the fact that i still feel my love for the bike everytime i ride the 200 and it reminds me of how blown i was on the smoothness when i first got her, is why i'm still holding on to it as long as i can.

    But the sickening experience with Bajaj's "cost effeciency"/optimisation/one size fits all/buyer loyalty be damned tactic is why i'm NEVER gonna buy a bajaj bike EVER again.

      Yup I have the same policy...never a Bajaj product again. Includes the Kawis and KTM's.

          I had got a chance to open up a broken console from an accident case.

          Note: The backlighting is done by very small LED's, the type which are directly soldered on to the board and have a form factor like a very small cuboid, as opposed to a regular cylindrical LED. But replacing those LED's would require pulling apart the console and to do that you have to break a few seals. Don't know if it will work on reassembly though.

          Currently, I am using NGK Iridium IX spark plugs. But the ignition coills and power cables are stock ones. If i put racing cables and racing ignition coils, does it improve the performance of the bike?

          I ask the service center guys on my 1st service about this. but they said there will be NO performance improvements with Racing cables and Racing ignition coils. Is that true?

                a small doubt !! wats the need in changing the swing arm for retrofitting rear disk brake ?? the 220 and the 200s look identical to me 200 have a spacer insted of the caliper holder right ?? or am i missing some tin ??

                  I know about this as I almost installed the rear disc myself.
                  The 200 and 220 share the same swingarm. The caliper is mounted on to the swingarm at 2 points.
                  One is the rear axle, which passes through the caliper assembly.
                  The other is a weld between the caliper assembly and the swingarm, which is located ahead of the rear axle.

                  The welding is done in the factory and so one would expect it to be reliable. In cases where the caliper is going to be welded on to the existing swingarm, it would work but the weld should not be weak.

                  People generally opt for the 220 arm to be safe I guess.

                    The callipers are welded to the swing arm in p220, which is not the case in p200. so, we have two options:
                    1. to get the swing arm of p220 and rear mag of 200, OR
                    2. weld the caliper to p200 swing arm, but then, it has to be precise..

                      Engine oil for P200

                      I recently put Castrol GTX 20W50 oil in my P200,
                      Is it ok to use this oil?
                      the performance n efficiency is very good,he is 15 months old and 18.3k kms on the odo. Its been 1500kms so far with it.

                        An engine oil rating of 20W50 is infact recommended for the P200. So, I believe, it would be totally okay.

                          I believe the GTX 20W50 is an oil used in cars. This will cause clutch slippage over prolonged usage. I suggest you get back to an oil meant for bikes.

                          Personally, I don't believe there will be any difference between 20W40 and 20W50. I use the MAK 20W40 for my 180 which is supposed to be using 20W50. If anything, I feel the shifts are smoother, and availability of this oil is a lot easier than 20W50 ones.

                            @Rossiter: Ah yes, now, I remember that if we look carefully at the can of the Castrol GTX 20W50 engine-oil, it is specifically written - "For Petrol Cars". I believe it might just cause a clutch slippage, if used in motorcycles.

                            @Suresh: A more viable and better option from Castrol with regards to the 20W50 rating would be the Castrol Active Xtra, which is a 20W50 oil meant for motorcycles, but it's availability is really a big issue. I used to use this on my P180 Classic, but these days I do not find this oil with any vendor, unfortunately.

                              Well, it does say that on the can. But I've read posts by a few Bulleteers who don't use anything else than GTX
