    • Gave my bike for servicing last Thursday.
      Changed my chain and sprocket.
Also complained of white smoke under hard acceleration. They checked and said bore and piston need to be replaced.... i was like . My bike has just done 19k KM and needs bore and piston replacement. WTF????
In these 19K Kms following are the parts replaced
      1)Camshaft
      2) Mono-shock
      3)Bore
      4)Piston
      5)Chain & Sprocket.

Luckily i service my bike as per Honda Schedule and my bike is still under warranty so they replaced all of them free of cost except the chain & sprocket.
Checked with the mechanic if mine was a one off case, he said that since last 2 years he has noticed an increase in such problems in unicorn and dazzler.

Since i almost have a new engine, i was asked to follow the run in process for the 1st 1000 Km ............................................______ __

      • Hi All,

I am new to xbhp and riding too (don't consider ~9 months and near 10k Km much)

I was introduced to bikes by friends and started with a discover 125 and then Honda unicorn .......both borrowed
Felt in love with unicorn and In fact I got a dazzler (considering it as sporty and feature rich unicorn.. and It didnt disappoint)
        --> I was never a pulsar/RTR guy

Would like to jump to what I experienced.(Its no review, in 2013 that don't count I suppose.)

        (+)

        1) Excellent mileage for the kind of power it delivers (I consistently get between 50 and 60 Km/l under any riding condition) its 50% highway+ 40% heavy traffic+10%streets.(near 50km daily)

Initially I used HP power but was forced to switch to normal Fuel (we all know why.. liquid gold), didn't impact smoothness and mileage... at least I didnt notice any difference.

        2) Reliable: I have traveled in all sort of weathers(In heavy rain, with water clogged roads in gurgaon) and time of hrs. even used bike after gaps of 2 days - 7 days many a times
It never failed. I never missed a kicker.

        3) Handling/Cornering: Ah Never felt like it was my first bike. Even a novice rider like me got confidence to attack corners.(in limits)

        4) Engine: What I liked is its exhaust note from 4.5k to 6.5K rpm. Once a R15 guy turned left to see what bike it was.(could be any other reason but I like this way .. and then I couldn't see him .. lol) and of course smoothness at high rpms.

        5) Looks: I like them. ( even over fz)

        6) Riding position: I like that too. not very aggressive, not very commuter like.. somewhere between... good for speeds under 80Km/hr (at high speeds wind pushes a lot in such riding stance) Longest I ever rode was for 3hrs without any problem. i usually ride in 50 to 70 km/hr band and do touch 100s on safe highways. maximuxn I did was 117Km/hr with still a bit of juice left in engine. (once even covered a long stretch .near 20Km. enroute noida .. some.. pari chawk at 104 ks without hassles and lack of power)

        7) Low maintenance : till now I have completed all the services in time with cost only towards engine oil, additives + pollution check.

        (-)

        1) Headlight is sort of not that powerful.(even worst its AC) plus in foggy winters in delhi I miss hazard lights.
        2) The grab rail plastic has started losing coating of paint and now is gradually becoming white.
        3) The digital console vibrates between 4.5k and 5k rpm.

        4) Honda Service center guys are insensitive: Once they forgot to put back a black rubber covering from front disk brake which caused breaks to becomy jerky and even damaged some metal plates in disk brake. It could have resulted in my life. They were so insensitve that I was handed a job card with Rs30 bill on reporting this issue. I calmly paid and didnt took matter further I feard they might do some bad to my bike in revenge. .. I didnt belive them... But the service center manager, a lady was kind enough(after I asked for feedback form and put a bad review of service explaining every thing in written ... at first they didnt even give me feed back form.. it took half an hour for them to provide me one ) and personally attended my problem and got front disk repaired . It was during 2nd service but I was treated very well after that incident in later services.

I dont know if any one else asks for the mighty service FEEDBACK FORM post service.

        5) I feel like i committed mistake by taking extended warranty.

In a nutshell I am happy with the product, not honda service.

        • Mechanical ABS for DAZZLER?

Hey fellow riders, i recently bought honda dazzler and i am thinking about installing a mechanical abs or i can say delayed braking system like saferide abs, krp, etc
          Which will be good?
          My doubts about it are:
          1. Is it worth installing on the bike?
          2. Will it void bikes warranty(Bike is less than a month old)?
          3. How long do they live(LIFE)?
          4. How is the braking after installing it? does it feels like disc brake abs or will it act as a drum brake?
          5. And one main thing does they have enough braking during rain?(Some friends say that ABS is a pain during rains but non of them have ABS in their bikes)
          6. Can i get it fitted at honda showroom(will they do it) ?

need a review from riders who have installed it.

Mods don't just approve the thread but also give your valuable suggestions please...

            • dear dazzler owners. you might want to store a few possible replacement parts that this bike might need in future. this bike will be definitely replaced by the new one recently launched by Honda. sadly one of the good bikes will bade us all a goodbye from the manufacturing bay line this very year.

Come on man... they said replace bore piston and you did?? Never thought about taking second opinion? In general when there is whitish/bluish smoke while riding it means that the piston rings need to be replaced, that is like Rs50 + labour. There is never any need to change piston + bore. Further if there is smoke coming out only under hard acceleration or high rpm and not during general riding then there can other reasons for smoke, namely a blocked Crankcase breather tube, for all you know there might have been nothing wrong with your bore + piston at all... You should not have agreed to change it so easily man..!

Worth? Nope, dont go for this, you might ruin your brakes for ever. Improve you braking rather than improving brakes.
Yes it will void warranty. Honda show room will not fit these. One person from the ownership thread had replaces, you can hunt that post down and send him a pm, my advice drop the idea.

Nice idea, except that trigger and Dazzler are about 95% identical..!! So no need to worry...!

I think it will be sold at a small premium, maybe about 5000 more than what dazzler was sold for. And dont regret man, you have still got the same bike under the clothing. Dazzler and Trigger are identical when it comes to all performace part (from tyres, forks, brakes, silencer, chassis, engine, gearbox, even the bulbs and electricals are same). Only difference is looks, panels, console etc. Everything else is identical.

Most probably the engine and internals are same for both Dazzler and the Trigger. Only the external panels would be different. And, the panels on Dazzler would last long as they are small and strong. So, there is not much to worry. And Honda would definitely keeps spares for longer periods, almost as long as Honda is there.

                      • Well guys i will be happy with my dazzler all way long there something in my mind that i should have waited for some time. But feel that trigger will be much costly than Dazzler.
                        reasons:
                        combined brakes
                        big digital display
                        kick start

and i think that pricing will be minimum of 80k as dazzler is still in the market...

Don't worry much about the combi brake system. I feel its not practical because, it works with rear brake pedal. It is designed so that the rear brake pedal controls both front and rear brakes. For motorbikes, applying the front disc brake is important for proper stopping and handling of the bike. You can't just use rear brake for control. So, you don't gain much with this system. Moreover, if you start using rear brake more, the rear disc pads wear out faster (even the front disc pads too) putting a hole in your pocket (the rear pads are 750 and front 400).

As long as you like your Dazzler, forget about the Trigger. I strongly feel, the performance of both Dazzler and Trigger would be same. And of course, if you really like the console of Trigger, I feel you can change it in future and I feel it would be a direct fit.

                          • there is a possibility of dazzler not being taken off from the production if Honda wants to become Maruti for two wheelers. just like maruti has a vehicle for very price bracket Honda would keep dazzler in the market.
and i sincerely hope Honda goes the Maruti way

Honda's Sales & Marketing VP very specifically said that the Trigger will 'replace' the Dazzler.

yes i know it will be replaced but would have been better if they thought like maruti. it's never good for a company to take off a product from a market with few exceptions such as genuine reasons like in the case of the mahindra bike.
agreed dazzler is a dud when it comes to sales but it is a product that Honda should be proud of. yes it is not a high end product but it is one of the best engines produced for developing Asian markets.
i wish they thought of creating space for dazzler along with Trigger which may or may not trigger the sales.
it would be trouble for Honda if they removed dazzler and trigger too goes flop. it is better to have two slow moving products than a single one. moreover it increases the portfolio of the company.
