what i mentioned above are simple bulbs, just like the stock ones, but of higher wattage and illumination.. And yes, these are good..
Bro BTW is swapping the headlight of Unicorn with FZ is not a problem. . ?

Cheers!!!

then its better to wait for the new installation.. and try to make that as soon as possible.. you won't want to make your bike useless at night..

as for the hid or projector.. that would mean additional 3-4k in addition to the cost of the FZ setup..
you simple could use a 55/60w bulb.. preferably philips night vision or osram.. those are also very bright and give adequate lighting..
Bro, some detailed info .
1st , HID_in_reflector is always better that projector when it comes to light throw , but oncoming traffic will curse you . In city area you might also face cop problem due to this poke in the eye factor of the "HID_in_reflector" . where projector works very good in city , but in highway it will be not that good as "HID_in_reflector" .

2nd , coil rewinding is the key factor here which will decide what you can use , as you know you can still convert it to DC & feed the light's existing AC power to battery after making it DC via any 20amps diode, It will allow you to run any 35W light let it be either HID or halogen without any battery problem , cost will be only 250/- total .Its tested & tried
where as after coil rewinding you can run three 35W light , provided you use any branded triple coat 18gauge wire, as the unicorn 2006 comes with 12pole, it will easily generate approx 200W of peak power .
so what you can do is fix a projector in headlight - for bling bling factor + city riding & twin fog lamps with 35W HIDs in them for highway ride . Things will be costly for sure but will be worth every penny .

3rd, if you plan to install projector then there is no point in install OEM reflector or such as it will be either painted black , or will be unused as projector wont use any part of the reflector to produce light . Lumax made yamaha Fz reflector comes in 997/- only .

4th, yess branded projector cost a bomb , minimum range starts from 4600/- , it offers grater than 89% efficiency, means the 89% of the light produced by the bulb goes in the road . the more expensive= more efficiency .
now it's upto you what you want to do .

thanks mate much needed explanation for me as well as other riders..
Rakesh Rok.... all your queries have been answered.. and as for the fitting.. you should consult a mechanic as i don't have much knowledge of unicorn..

Ride safe and have fun.

Also I am planning to change the dome of my Unicorn with that of FZ and then install HID or projector, has the present one is too old and also the clamping is gone, if a hot air blower is used, I think it might break the glass into pieces, so presently is there any other alternative as I daily travel at night, so light is necessary and also sometimes, I cannot even see the pedestrians walking on the side of the road. . . I am also using Honda Unicorn 2006 model and had faced similar problem with lighting.
What you need to do?? - First increase the current in the bike by rewinding and making it full DC.
Then you can play around with FZ light or HID or Aux lamp or anything you want.
Full DC = Coil rewinding + APE RR, a very simple procedure.

I had made my Uni Full DC and tried

55/60w in reflector -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Noticable improvement to 35/35
HID in reflector ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- You will get beaten someday.
HID in Projector - BMW BI-Xenon projector(used part from ebay.com) by a friend in US -------- Decent cut-off but not enough light comparatively.
HID in Autopal Mega Spot lamp ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Excellent and very helpful for long rides.
The beam really goes the distance.

At present I settled with Round light of TATA ACE(no need to tell about its beam) with 55/60 philips premium bulb in city + HID spot lamp for long rides.

If you can DIY, Coil rewinding costs 200 for wire + 1300 for Ape RR + 150 for 2 micro relays + 100 for Misc items + a multimeter.

Is it Tested and tried on a Unicorn??????? The current supplied to the headlight in a unicorn has a negative polarity.

8-poles only.

yes the diode setup is tested & tried . are you sure about the 8pole setup ? I worked on a 2010uincorn & it had 12poles . the svc guy told me that all the unicorn have the same coil "it's honda dada, sob same e hoy" . The coil had one ground & power out, the RR Unit did all the work for providing AC to the light & DC to the battery, but as after putting the lights on the battery the AC section will be unused , so keeping a diode on that lets only the +ve half cycle of the AC to flow to the battery .
Here is some picture of the coil I have worked with

I 1st tried it on the very same 2010 unicorn . but I remember there was no -ve polarity in the AC section, it was sine wave . putting a diode after that lets the only +ve half cycle to the output .

both are equally good.. lie in the premium category.. so you can expect a good feedback from both of them..
i think its a personal choice and more on availability.. opt for anyone of them

Good , please do the rewinding with triple coat wire, it's the most durable . & if you can do machine winding then you can manage 56turns per pole even with 18gauge. that is5layer . it will generate good amount of power

The 12 pole one is from Unicorn Dazzler.
My Unicorn has got only 8 poles. So does CBZ Xtreme.
About the negative polarity : -

I've tried diodes & diode setup is not possible in this scenario.

some information needed..
if i change the battery (12v-5amp) to a larger capacity battery (12v-7amp).. is it also required to change the wiring..?
heard from a mechanic today that the bikes wiring are suited for that current only and if a larger current passes, they might not be able to sustain it..
is this correct..?

battery is only a storage device in any bike it wont matter how much higher amps battery you put you can also use 12v 5000amps battery but the problem would be it will be very big to fit.
