Can you get the battery charged at a battery shop once and then if the problem continues need to check the RR unit.
If RR unit is fine and issue happening cos the draw from the HiD is too much for the battery to solve this you need a bigger battery or improvise the RR unit so the feed form the dyno to battery is higher leading to quicker charge / more power into the circute

Hello Team XBHP,

I am very new to XBHP and this is my 1st query.
I know this query has been asked / answered several times but again I want to confirm it.
I recently purchased Yamaha FZS.
I feel the headlight is too weak.
I want to replace the stoke 35/35 watt halogen with any good 60/55 watt halogen.
Can it be done without any modification?
Can the battery take the load of it? what kind of halogen is a direct fit ? H4? if yes then which brand and series should I go for under Rs 200

P.S: just HID's on the Dio is a nightmare / total discomfort to oncoming traffic. Highly suggest that you remove this or atleast use a projector

Having said that, the culprit in your case is the stock RR, as harish.krovvidi suggested improvise the RR or replace it with that of the samurai or shogun. I know people who also run projectors and roots horns on the dio with the ape rr without any trouble.

Guys, I own a discover 135(2008). At least Once in a month I ride it to my native(570km up & down). I love cruising at night but I feel the stock headlamp is not good enough for highways. What options do I have other than projector lamps? The stock bulk is 35w, is it possible to fit a 55w bulb w/o replacing the battery?

You can fit a 4300K HID kit with projector or go for coil rewinding with Ape RR. A HID projector kit gonna run you for around 4,000 rupees for China made ones and coil rewinding to run 60/55w bulb will cost you around 3,500 rupees. Better opt for a 60/55watt upgrade as HID attracts cops' attention and you can't flash HID bulbs without warming them up, so flashing in daytime is not possible.

I'd be glad if somebody posts as side by side picture of 35watt halogen and 55watt halogen for comparison. Just to give you an idea, the illumination will be like that of Pulsar 220, albeit lower as P220 has low beam projector and Ellipsoidal Lens for high beam.

My bro has installed projector HID in his gs150r. The exact model is,

He has not set the focus properly, but it was way brighter than the halogens.
Will it be a direct fit on my discover?
Or any modding is required?
Is it worth it?

.
You sure about this cos when you do the first flash after start up the ballast will be charged and ready so next flash onwards they do work. Stating this as I have HID on both high and low of the busa as well on the car.

I had picked up 6 Hid @ 1200 each 4 went on the My sonata and 2 in the busa.

Yes alignment need to be Redone after HID install as the beam spread is different due to color temp of these bulbs.

No offense but you seem to be naive about HIDs, I assume so when you said you bought 6 HID kits at 1,200 rupees each. I guess those are Chinese ones without a projector and if so they would cause glare and blind oncoming traffic, illegal too. I have no idea what are you trying to say by "charging the ballast", flashing is not possible in daylight because when the bulb is turned on, it takes upto 15 seconds to warm up. H4 bulbs achieve low/high beam facility by having a shield inside the bulb that is pulled up and down for high/low beam effect. On projector setup, the same work is done on the projector, it has a shield in the projector body instead of the bulb. Most projectors use D2S bulb but H1 and H3 are not uncommon too.

Nice one, you can opt for this projector for now, you can replace the bulbs later to get different color. BTW could you take some photos of the projector's light output on your brother's bike. I'm interested in seeing the kit's light throw.

Was the low beam turned on before flashing? Are you using two projector for low/high beam? You can flash HID but it shortens the bulb life drastically. That's what I learned from reading and studying online, also I have zero experience with HID in real life, beware I'm just a bicycle rider and very retarded one. Sorry for my stupid behavior and rude reply earlier.

In a hayabusa reflector is low beam and projector is high beam this is exact reverse of P220 this is by design as in a high speed bike you need better throw of light and focus at higher speeds.

please refer to my older blog post, you can see I had retrofitted projectors on my esteem back in 06 itself. I had just then exited the biking scene and promised myself that my next bike will be a busa or no biking for me luckily I was able to save to meet my dream. Back to topic.

Auto Kustomizer: Angel Eyes

we shouldn't confuse our self between projector and HID they are 2 separate components of a automobiles headlight. Projectors are new generation of reflectors that came out in 1998 they were first to be seen on the beamers but the patent is held by hella. They have gone through 3 or 4 revision last I read was in 2011. The technical upgrades were with the shape of the projector lenses that helps to focus and spread light better on the road.

the projector technology was launch specifically with the European and NA markets in mind as it's best results seen during winter and rain where road visibility is 0 in condition like black ice in colder parts of the world and black road in tropical places like India.

HID came in later towards end of 90's followed by the angel eyes, angel eyes are again patented by BMW and manufactured by hellla for the beamers.
Angel eyes came out of the German regulation that required cars running on their roads needing DRL.

Coming to the Indian jugad ... He he

we get the china Made projectors retrofit into our bikes along wit he HiD kit. Though these retrofitted kits are not manufactured to the mark of oem or hella standards they are still 50-75% more efficient in handling the 35w hid light and spreading the beam better on the road. This is whoa 35w HID kit is equal to a standard 60w/55w halogen. Also the heat produced in HID kit is 30% lesser and the bulb doesn't crack or burst if water sprays on it (claimed in YouTube videos I not backing this)

I have seen some people upgrading their stock HID to 50w HIDkits as it's equal to 100/90 halogens. But I did find the difference on the 3 series I have personally seen this upgrade on.

IMHO 35w HID is way better than 55w halogen in light output. I think you are running the projectors with halogen lights or whatever high quality light comes fitted on the Busa. Are those projectors HID compatible? I'd like to ask you few things regarding them, so PM'ing you. BTW I hope those pictures are ready.
