changed my head light to 60w55.awesome light throw must say...got it just for 85 rs...when, i started searching for philips premium, here in my city philips crystal vision was available shop keeper asked 450 rs for it.
.
then, searched several shops, but, 60w55 was not available. then, after some search, got philips premium for just 85 rs..
.became very happy...
.then, continued my search for smd led.here only 9 in one and 5 in one led was only available. quoted 110 rs.. per piece, which is in some higher side.anyway bought twins for 200 rs..as i was eagerly waiting for this mod.
.
then, reached home as soon as possible.then here starts my dismantling.it was very hard job must say...my brother helped me in doing this which was very big help in that situation.
considerably it was very simple to replace that pilot lamps.refitting was the most pain to do. we were really struggled to place that fairing in place.but, after all that pain, the result was awesome..never thought this much increase in lighting..after adjusting beam adjusting screw, it increased even further.
.
now low light problem is no more in night riding. now i most like to ride in night. its a breeze....
.my brother is also impressed by improved lighting..
that leds are also cool which gives blue eyed feel
,light intensity is not that good though.(thats because of that 9smd led, will upgrade it soon.)anyway more light is there than yellowish pilots...
but, after installing, battery indicator started to blink when i cranked my bike and head light switched ON. BUT AFTER SOME TIME, IT DISAPPEARED, NEVER SEEN IT AGAIN. but i am little worried about that.any battery issues will happen by this mod?...sigpicmy bike is my sign

Yep, here are the details. (Sorry, I was busy in projects during weekdays and got some free time only now to reply)Originally posted by lockhrt999 View PostMore details please.
35W Bi-xenon (H4 white bulb ) with projector lens / 5W angel eye ring light / 2 white LED pilot lights / Cost Rs.3200 including labor / 3 Months replacement warranty / installed in a shop at Peters Road, Royapettah, Chennai / Cheaper model for Rs.1800 also available without warranty.
Observation:
After riding with this HID Projector headlight for a week, here are my observations (may be issues only),
1. Additional Swtich: The additional switch to change the high and low beam is very inconvenient. Yes, the mechanic told me that it is not possible to use the stock switches and only for the angel eye and pilot lights the stock switch can be used. Also, this additional switch will be placed only in the right side, where the stock switch is in left side and my fingers used to it
.
2. Urban vs Highway ride: Not much useful for urban rides where the street lights are in place. Sometimes, I don't even feel like the headlight is on. But very much useful for highway rides. I'm commuting daily 60 Kms up and down to my office where 50Kms are on highway. So find it very useful while come back from office, usually around 9pm. And the beam throw is very long, wide and high enough. Defenitely far better than the stock bulb.
3. Alignment: Slightly misaligned and the beam falls towards left slightlly. need to fix it ASAP. Sad part is, we need to open the head again to do this. Hmm... missed to check the alignment at the time of installation. Also I tried to adjust the alignment of the throw up/down using the screw adjustment behind the head. But no use. Even after screwing completely front and back, the low beam throw is still long(high) and couldn't align it like what I did with the stock bulb. Wondering why?!?!
4. Monsoon Ride: I doubt, this white beam will not be much useful during rainy season. Because, when I was crossing a wet road of 15 meters yesterday (some people bypassed the excessive water of the boring work on the road), I saw the the illumination on the wet road is very less and I don't see any light on that part of the road compared to the dry surface. So, just thinking, is it possible to change the white bi-xenon to yellow one?!?
Well, that's it for now. Friends, please feel free to correct me/advise me if any of my above points are not valid as I'm very new to HID/Bi-xenon/projector headlights.
Still I feel that this is worth upgrade and I'm enjoying it. Will keep you posted..
Thanks, Gopi.sigpic

That's great. Low battery icon shows up because the current draw from the battery increases. But if you keep RPM a little high for some time it will go away. It also showed on my bike.
I don't think they will provide projector with Rs. 1800 model.Originally posted by blackstallion180 View PostYep, here are the details. (Sorry, I was busy in projects during weekdays and got some free time only now to reply)

You certainly don't need additional switches, the stock ones can do the job or atleast can drive the relays which will in turn operate the HID. And go easy on pass switch, HID bulbs don't like to forced to turned on many times in short interval nor does you battery.Originally posted by blackstallion180 View PostObservation:

I think you need to align them a little down. Can you post the photos of light throw.Originally posted by blackstallion180 View Post2. Urban vs Highway ride: Not much useful for urban rides where the street lights are in place. Sometimes, I don't even feel like the headlight is on.
I know just why. The spring present behind bulb (or in your case projector) doesn't offer sufficient pressure to keep the assemble down. Screw pushes the assemble to high side and spring pushes it to low side. Screw doesn't pull back assemble to low side.Originally posted by blackstallion180 View PostAlso I tried to adjust the alignment of the throw up/down using the screw adjustment behind the head. You should see what I have done below the bulb socket. I have stuck a small wooden stick between rear end of rubber hose and bottom plastic of headlight. That stick does the job of keeping light throw to low side. Refer to post from my signature.
You must have gotten the HID with 6000K or 8000K color. They are super famous and most sought after here in India. They are rendered useless rainy and even more useless in foggy situations. I don't think you will face thick fog in your side of India.Originally posted by blackstallion180 View Post4. Monsoon Ride: I doubt, this white beam will not be much useful during rainy season. For best results use 4300k or less. (4300K offers most light on "candle light units basis" among all HIDs)
If possible, change yours to 4300K or 3000K. As you go above 4300K this light becomes cop magnet.(projector or no projector)Last edited by lockhrt999; 02-12-2012, 02:04 AM.

ug4 timing chain issue
Hi fellow pulsarians. .
nice to see everyone enthusiastic about diy jobs for their bikes. .
bout my bike, i have done 25k km in 2 years. but in the past few months the timing chain sound is just not going, what ever i do. .
1. i changed the timing chain and tensioner @ 20k km. after few humdred km the noise was back. went to the local bajaj dealer and the mechanic told me to change the chain, the timing chain sproket that sits on the cam.
2. 2 days ago changed the timing chain, the sproket, the chain tensioner.
today the sound is back and its very prominent. even if i adjust the tensioner the sound reduces for only a few kilometers.
the bike is also not freely revving beyond 6k rpm. it starts to vibrate a lot and there is no proper pull. .
please suggest what i should do to reduce the timing chain sound.
the vibrations i feel are because of the improper loading of the balancer idler gear. if not that what else should i look into to fix it.
please help. . looking forward to replies.
thank you. .
