Just had to adjust the chain slack. Not much else.

And performance, well, I'd been on a 120km ride today. I will say it's perfect for highways, but seems to be quite sluggish with a pillion. I had to travel 8km around a hill today. You'll definitely miss the torque on those hair pin bends that are inclined upwards. I didn't check the speedo much, but I think I made 108kmph at 8k RPM. Besides that, not much I can give you. But in short, will probably say that the 14T is better. Or get the Unicorn's 42 rear and slap it on. Should be the best.

The 15/43 is just too tall.

When i changed my sproket to the 15T ones today i actually loved it as with 14T the speed at 4k rpm in fifth gear was 51kmph...
But after fitting 15T the speed was 49kmph in 4th gear at 4k rpm.... and in fifth gear at 4k rpm the speed was 56kmph....
Yes i do agree the gearing has become really tall but the kind of ride i do i.e highway cruising its best for me right now.....

        • Guys , need help !

I had given my bike to the ASC for a routine service . I am facing cold start issues (which I did not face earlier ).

I asked them to change the spark plug , which they have . Now I have to kick several times to start the bike.

How do I rectify this problem ? Need help please .

          Thanks a lot.

Can you please tell the model number of spark plug that has been fitted in your bike , as a wrong plug can cause start problems....Also if possible post the pic of spark plug tip , we can tell whether afr is correct or not

While reading your experience I would leave the idea to change the sprocket, because i cant tolerate the drop in pickup, because my basic run is in city, it is 70/30 % kind of,

And i have changed my front disc pads from stock to ASK and rode my bike for some 30 kilometers but not feeling the performance is increased of brake, may be it will start giving some result after some more couple of miles, the brakes of the bike is really bad not feels confident.....

                Ashwin,
I think it wud be better to go for 14/42T from Unicorn. This will improve a bit at higher end but not like 15/43T which too tall

                • Hero Xtreme Double Disc costed me Rs.80,460/- On-road without any accessories.
Faced lot of trouble with dealerships who were charging Rs.2350/- for handling and delivery charges in the name of accessories. Had to visit the regional office to meet the manager to get this problem sorted out. He called the dealership then and there and asked me to get the bike by paying only Ex-showroom price +Life tax.
The behavior of the salespersons and the manager at the dealership changed completely after just one call by the regional office. Soon all the dealerships in Hyderabad will be receiving orders on not to collect handling charges "illegally" . Hero's customer care is excellent and even the guy at the receptionist was very humble. Hero is taking this very seriously and their response is top notch. No wonder it has won the hearts of millions. !

Many thanks to Sibun who guided me properly as soon as I found discrepancy in the quotations given to me by different dealers.

                  My initial Ownership review.

Engine : It is punchy yet very smooth. I came to know that the current hero bikes are much smoother than ever.
Headlights are powerful and easily the best in this segment. High beam is enough to blind the oncoming traffic. All the electical load is shed off from the battery as soon as the engine RPM crosses 1800 Rpm.

Saddle height is quite high and is suited for riders above 5'8" while 5'5" will find it a little difficult in city traffic.(I am 5'11.5')

Meter assembly is neat and well organised. The tacho and speedo are easily readable and just a glance is enough. Blue backlight of speedo and white backlight of tacho looks great. Pilot lamp and meter backlight are DC operated. Headlamps runs on AC.

Handling is great and I have adjusted the rear shocks to the hardest possible. Front shocks are a little soft and an oil change with a thicker grade should take care of it.
Over-all the brakes are very confidence inspiring.

                  • Congrats Shoeb for your new possession! Wishing you happy mile-munching for the days to come! Just use the 10w30 mineral for now...and post 7k+ kms, think of a thicker oil. For now, just enjoy as you've got a great bike there! These new gen xtremes are quite smooth and the clip-ons do a great job in minimising handlebar vibrations.

@All: Can anyone confirm whether this new gen Xtreme's RVMs are a direct fit for the 2012 Hunk or not? I find the length of my RVMs a tad on the lesser side. Want to go in for a little wider ones.

Compare both the RVM side by-side to get an idea of the length. You can even use Splendor's RVM as the threads are basically the same.
Alpha Toyo makes good quality RVMs.

                        • Congratulation SHOEB for the new bike.As shoeb has mentioned, i do not know why in Hyderabad they were collecting all these handling and all these bogus charges. Shoeb contacted me and i told him to directly walk into the regional office of hero which is near his home. As i know that Hero is now taking its customers very seriously and always says customer first. As soon as he visited the regional office, his work got done. Anyways as previously told in this forum after incorporation of HERO the quality has taken a sea of changes. The new model extreme is quite smooth than older model extremes. On another note, on this saturday i went home and my friend took delivery of ZMR in white color. Since he hasn't ridden bigger bikes, i took the delivery. I reached BHUBANESWAR at 6 PM and delivery was taken at 7. Since the showroom is like a friend of mine, so i had previously called him and told him about the delivery and thus quick formalities were completed. We gave the staff a box of sweets.Coming to delivery, i rode it and it feels amazing. The bike feels huge, which is a boon for me as i use the extreme for only highway running. Even after so many years the ZMR feels amazing. But my friend who bought it will use for office commuting and such. heck! why am i talking here about all that. I just want to say, here the dealers do not loot customers or may be since the dealer is a friend of mine he did all the necessary works and also fair in all the billing.

Yeah i have been using a ZMA a lot recently too - its a great bike feels so comfortable - this bike i amusing was sitting in the garage as the owner was killed sadly riding this same bike - so no one was touching it - did a quick oil change and riding it - but it has suffered some impact on the front fork it seems as it moves to the left slightly when i apply the brake - gave me only 20km/lt but i really didnt care .

Dealers here loot customers because most of the group of dealers is run by /or backed up by an MP.

It is safe to use but make sure it does not come in contact with any kind of rubber/plastic. Neither let this get in contact with the TPS nor remove the TPS.
Take special precaution after cleaning the carburetor with carb cleaner, wash it again with petrol to remove any residual carb cleaner(Carb cleaner evaporates rapidly but to be on safe side). This is to make sure that the rubber diaphragm of the piston/slide does not get damaged by carb cleaner.

Use this cleaner to clean only the bowl, jets and passages. For cleaning the rest use an extra soft orthodontic toothbrush (It is cheap, can be found for as low as Rs.10/-) or a soft 1 inch paint brush and petrol.
Using soft brushes will ensure that the carb does not get scratched. A Scratched carburetor will only make sure that you have to clean it more often than needed.
