Not worth it! Costs what 80-100 bucks filling in and at some places they charge you for top up. Makes sense if you do a lot of highway rides and that too 500+ kms. I still have not opted for it and have gone ahead with normal air as even after a hard day ride.. the psi, post temp increase have not gone more than 1-2 psi than the normal 28 front and 33 rear psi. Plus most of the modern petrol bunks offer free air fill up unless you consider it a major hassle.. If one uses a ride which does 120+ kmph and does a lot of hard braking and stuff then nitrogen makes sense as it is inert by nature and keeps tyre pressure under control. In India it is more or less a marketing gimmick.

From this experience I'd suggest you to take the bike to a mechanic immediately

    Cheers!!
I feel like kissing my ride.. i have done 23+k kms on the odo and as per the SVC both the front and rear should last another 5-8k kms more. And its not like i do splendor mode rather more of a mix ride and thrash riding too!! Although i will have to see once i go back to Mumbai as for now my friend will do the riding and taking care of her till the time i return

So I believe it depends on riding technique rather than applying too much or being too much dependant on braking which reduces the life span of the brake pads. Change your riding habit/style, understand basic physics of kinetic energy and how to enter a corner and exit speed without using much of braking (unless you are trying to be Rossi) etc. and it will reflect on the parts lasting more than the average.

    Cheers,

Nitrogen is definitely worth it. My tyres lasted 40k km on my fazer and I used nitrogen from the first day. Here in my city it costs 30rs for deflating and then inflating with nitrogen and even after a month there is almost no drop in the tyre pressure.

Look for an mrf exclusive tyre and tyre service shop and they provide nitrogen for cheap.

      • My FZS giving decent mileage....

Hello Guys i brought new FZS(black-orange color) 2 weeks back and i have filled her with a total of 7 liters and now my current odo reading is 300KM(yes exact! ) still i have not set it to reserve(now its only showing fuel machine icon blinking) so i guess i am doing a good riding considering the fact that others wont even get 40+ before first servicing .

PINCH ME is it a dream????

        How i ride my bike:
->crossed above 50 only few times.
->most of the times maintain a constant RPM(3-4K)
        ->shifting at 3-4K RPM
->I Rev smoothly.(once i revved like a beast and she started screaming loved the music but.... felt bad)
        ->Maintaining speed (30-45KMPH)

So this settles the fact that FZ/FZS do return decent number if you ride it properly.
        Please share your thoughts!!!!

        • I had a minor fall sometime back. I can see and feel there is a slight bend on the handle. Also, if I leave my hands bike tends to move towards left.
Couple of friends say they can't see it but my brother-in-law and another friend said they too fell handle has bend.
Apart from naked eye, is there any test/method in service center where I can check for bend in handle or forks?

          • Hi Stanely,
Turn the handle completely on the both sides & measure the distance between the tank & handle (at the same point on both the sides). You can use scale, I normally used fingers.
Also, if I leave my hands bike tends to move towards left > Don't do that. Get the forks checked at SVC.

              • Greetings all,

I've gone through a lot of inconclusive posts about headlights for Fazer and here's my query.

I need brighter illumination for my bike, I'm not too keen on getting devil's or Angel's eyes. The existing one in my bike is the standard 35w one which as many of you all agree, is underpowered even with both lights on. Which bulbs would you recommend? Philips has H1, HS1, H4. Which one's the best?

Also, will I need to install a different battery? If I do have to install a new one, which one would you recommend?

My priority is simply brighter illumination. So I'd be grateful if you guys could tell me good bulbs available in the market which provide brilliant illumination.

                • Need help with Chain Maintenance.

Looks like front sprocket is gone as the chain has tight loose problem(Keep the bike on Center stand and rotate the rear wheel with hand and check the ply at some points it'll be tight and at others it'll be loose).

Last time I had to change the chain at ~14K and this time am doing it ~36K, thats about 22K.
I've been maintaining the chain well, cleaning and lubing it every 500K, except on long rides where I might have ridden little longer. I feel the chain and rear sprocket have a lot of life left but I have to change the whole assembly because of the front sprocket.

I clean the chain assembly with kerosene, through a used tooth brush and have been using Motul chain lube.
Is there anything that I am doing wrong that is causing the front sprocket to go bad earlier ?

You get Nitrogen for free at Indian Oil outlets(the people manning the point do demand some money, I usually give 5/10 rs).
At MRF points they charge 10 for top-up and 20 to completely deflate normal air and inflate Nitrogen per tyre.

I've been using Nitrogen since my tyre change and its been ~12K, may be more, with it and I am very satisfied with it. Sometimes it so happens that I dont got for a top-up for a month and the pressure still remains as it is.

For Longer rides Nitrogen is apparently good as it keeps cooler compared to normal air. It is also good for tyre as it doesnt cause any oxidation damage to the tyre rubber component.

Its just a matter of 20Rs per tyre, try it out.
One thing that I am generally told to take care is to get the inflation done when the tyre is cool.

Feel free to correct me if any of the above is wrong.

If its a whirring noise like a fan spinning then its normal for disc brakes.
If its a grinding or scraping kind of noise then probably your disk pads are worn out and need to be replaced immediately.
If its brake squeal then maybe your disk pads have glazed and require some sanding/replacement.

                    Cheers!
even i am getting this noise from my front Tyre........its more like a whistling noise (phew .....phew..!!)......not while braking.... but as the bike picks up speed.....strange part is its not always....only during mornings.....when i leave for my job......while coming back there absolutely no noise whatsoever

I tried to ride my bike before keeping the revs under 4k....Bike was absolutely terrible to ride. That experiment lasted all of 5 seconds. I don't know how people do that. Its like choking someone when they are gasping for breath. Has to be atleast 5-6K RPM.

30-45kph Don't restrict yourself to speed or RPM. Just ride it like you would normally and vary your speed and throttle.
If something breaks then there is something seriously wrong when it rolled out the factory. Better off riding it hard while its under warranty, That way if something does break you can get it fixed for free.

You felt bad...???!?!!? Why?: because, for once, you rode your bike as it was designed for?

And how can you come with this affirmation: "...if you ride it properly"??? I could hardly imagine a more improper way of riding this bike.

What I do not understand is why did you bought this bike? Maybe you'd have been even better off with a 50cc. moped, or a Honda Cub of some sort: 60kmh top speed, can do nearly 100km for one liter of gas, and is nearly indestructible. Best deal for the money!
