      • Hello Bikers!! Since the Yamaha Factory Shop has shut down in Mumbai, i got my bike serviced from Kamla Yamaha in Borivali(E).

The SVC was good with all facilities in house. Looking at the facility and their courteousness, i was confident that i am at the right place. Had to get my 6th free service done. Told the issues that i faced in the bike and left. The bike was to be collected in the evening.

After paying the bills and waiting for sometime, i got my bike.

The bike was smooth, with no gear shift issues (as i had highlighted the same). I was on the highway driving @ 60kph and out of nowhere my bike just dipped so badly in front, that i was shell shocked what happened to the bike . The bike refused to start, tried kicking the bike and gave self also, it just din start. After trying for sometime it started, i thought that the petrol level might be low. Was driving at normal pace and once more out of nowhere the bike dipped again . Again i tried giving the self and tried kicking also, it just din start. Suddenly out of nower it started and after travelling about 700mtrs, the bike again stopped and dipped. Somehow i managed to reach the filling station and filled in some petrol. But, alas!! the petrol also din help me with my problem. This was really frustrating. Got hold of a battery guy and asked him to check if anything is wrong with my battery, after checking and doing some fireworks, the guy said the battery is absolutely perfect.

I am not able to understand what exactly is the problem. This issue was faced by me when my bike was new (its one year old now). During that time the issue was sorted.

While idling, if i dun use the throttle, the bike will stop running and kaput, it wont start. Also, if i give slight throttle while idling, the bike would stop running. If i press the clutch and give throttle, the bike would run, but just for few meters and kaput.

Kindly help me what could be the issue
The real beauty lies in throttle's twist!!

Thats sad man. Go for MOTUL 3000 20W-50 Rather than Castrol Activ.

There might be different reasons for that.
Firstly get your bike's sparkplug checked (sometimes overfouling may create a problem)
Do get the carburetor checked/ cleaned if possible.
Mostly, there wont be any problem with fuel air ratio.

            • Guys, I really need help... I got the fork oil seals changed and new oil put in at the SVC, but now my ride quality has gone to the dogs... The shocks aren't absorbing any shock! What could be the problem and how do I rectify it?

                hi buddy,

did u ever try using choke while re-starting ur bike???.....

i personally feel ur bike may b running lean. but still dont rely completly on it........(gurus .....please confirm if correct )

given below are usual symptoms of rich and lean AFR....

courtesy - Carburetor Problems - How to Diagnose Carburetor ProblemsThree Carburetor Problems

                1) Rich Mixture means the carburetor is delivering too much gasoline. Typical symptoms of a rich mixture are:
                • Poor fuel economy
                • Sluggish acceleration
                • Choke not needed from cold starts
                • Sooty or black spark plugs
                • Sooty or black muffler end pipes
                • Strong smell of gasoline when machine is at idle
                • Uneven running (will often slow from regular idle rpm's and stop)
                • Poor mileage

                2) Lean Mixtures means the carburetor is delivering too much air. Typical symptoms of a lean mixture are:
                • Backfires as the throttle is closed (primarily during coast-downs)
                • Lurching acceleration
                • White or light grey spark plugs
                • Requires excessive amounts of choke to run/start
                • White or light grey muffler end pipes
                • Bluing (on chrome systems) of the exhaust header down-pipes
                • High mileage

                3) Incorrect Adjustment applies to carburetors that have incorrect adjustment of the air/fuel screw and the balance between two or more carburetors - where fitted. Incorrect adjustment can produce any of the previously noted symptoms. On multi-cylinder machines, with separate carburetors for each cylinder, the following symptoms are typical of an adjustment problem:
                • Poor overall performance
                • Rattling sounds from the clutch
                • Engine tends to stall easily
                • Erratic acceleration
                • Poor fuel economy
                • Misfires and/or backfires

also check the engine oil level....some bikes (even mine :P) have the habbit of drinking oil....... if the oil level is too low then top it up with similar grade....

                      • The Fuel indicator is not working on my Fazer since months and I tried checking with Malad asc and even they don;t know why is it and nothing can be done. What a shame that even Yamaha themselves don't know where the problem is and how to fix it

I'm I the only one having this issue?

Is ur indicator giving wrong readings? Or is it showing no reading at all??
Fuel indicators have always been a problem on these bikes. They are known to give very erratic readings most of the time when the fuel in the tank is nearing reserve level. When my fuel gets low I see my indicator showing just the blinking fuel pump icon with no bars next to it. But the next time I start it shows one bar blinking. I have also seen my indicator showing - The fuel pump icon blinking but the bar next to it is not blinking. Weird but it happened.

Cleaning your fuel quantity sensor might help.

                          Cheers!!

                            Hello Brothers

This is my first post in the beautiful community .

                            I have a 3 month old Yamaha FZ-S , Orange Black.

This is my first bike, so I'm kinda noob to all the technical stuff.
Reading through the forum has helped me a lot, you guys are really wonderful.

                            Now few questions:
                            1) Although I didn't have budget limitation, I bought FZ-S because I heard it's easy for first timers. It really is.
However now I want to buy Duke..cause it is so sexy.
                            Is it a worth upgrade?
How much will i get for a 3 month old FZ-S (odo: 1500) in Bangalore.

                            2) What visual modifications can I do ?
Like Led things on tire and stuff?
And where is the best place in Bangalore to do it?
                            Will visual modifications void warranty?

                            Thanks and Regards

No matter how much fuel is in the tank it would show as empty [blinking indication of fuel almost empty]. How to solve it?

Same here. The fuel indicator is totally unreliable.
If i fill 6 lts, the bar gets full.
But next time I turn on bike, it'll be 4 bars. or 5 bars.

Near reserve it goes crazy, 2 bar to blinking in a second. And next time you start the bike, it's 2 bars again.
Will SVC guys fix it, If I Complaint.
