If the movement is because of you turning the handlebar then it looks like your throttle cable is stuck somewhere and is being moved by your handlebar. If you can see where it is stuck maybe you can free it. If not very sure then take it to the SVC.

About your second problem, looks like there is some sort of blockage in your fuel lines or your carb. Get those cleaned.

Thanks. Should i take out the throttle cable and apply some lube/grease on it?

Edit : i dont think lubing is a DIY job

      1. The spit fire has atleast helped me in cold starts. So i really dont find them useless
      2. The bike was serviced at 11.49k kms when i insisted the SA to change the air filter he said it is good to go for 3k kms more. As the bike then was just being used for household errands max 8-10 kms a day sometimes more. And about reading the service manual probably thats the only book i read properly in the last 2 years :P
      3. I need more acceleration so thought of under-gearing it. Apart from R15 sprockets noting was mentioned in the list so thought people must have had done something in here. Anyway i guess the v1.0 is the only option i have as daytona are no big deal suggested by you!
      thanks

It is not the spitfire cable but the Iridium spark plug which has improved cold starts. Iridium doesnot increase power but improves cold starts, if you remove the spitfire cable and put the iridium spark plug with the stock coil then the results will be the same. That is the reason why i have mentioned the need to go through old posts mate.. there is a wealth of information on the same.

It is important at times not to listen to SVC but to follow the manual book which has specifically mentioned the limitations of an air filter. It is a part of preventive maintenance...

Well i know iridium spark plugs do not increase power that is obvious. Surprisingly When i was going to replace the spark plugs i had posted a query here and i was suggested to get the spit fire cables too.

        cheers,

but i'm suffering from a couple of problems.

whenever i turn my handlebar to right, engine RPM raises to 4000rpm even when throttle is at idle position. Any DIY solution or should i take it to service centre?

my bike sometimes doesn't respont when i twist the throttle [usually in slow traffic]. rpm stays at idle 1300-1400rpm even after twisting throttle. it stays idle for 2-3 seconds and then backfires and comes back to life. what could be the reason? my bike is 6500kms old. never cleaned carb or fuel system.
Nothing to worry. The cable is getting pulled. Do this, just below the accelerator, there is a silver thing thru which the accel wire goes. Loosen up the nut and adjust it to avoid the wire getting pulled.

For the second problem, do you run on low fuel? Looks like you do, this results in air entraping in the tank which causes this problem.

          2 years and 6500kms only?

          Cheerz!!
The real beauty lies in throttle's twist!!

Is there anyone getting mileage more than 40 ?
As I am confused to buy FZS only because of it's mileage and by today, petrol price almost reached @80/lit...

My daily usage is about 6-8 kms...
            Suggestions needed...

(My second option is hero ignitor)

I keep b/w 1-4L petrol in my tank

I use my bike only for fun or for long commutes. I usually use a cycle for short commutes (under 20km)

This is about the tyre problem I faced three months ago. Find the Info and pics in the link above.

The tyre was given to the MRF dealer who sent it for replacement. The dealer fitted a spare tube less tyre (120/70 17) with double tube in it. I got an SMS from MRF with the complaint no. But nothing from the dealer/MRF after that till date.

Today, I visited the dealer. He said he didn't get the replacement tyre but was ready to fit MRF Revz-S 130/70 R17 for 100 rs (fitting charge). He also said that the arrival of replacement tyre might take more time.

                  What should I do?
                  Anyone?

I have mentioned FE i get when i ride in splendor mode. Ie: shifting gear under 3k rpm , keeping speed under 50, riding alone, using less congested roads etc.

I get 35-37kpl when i ride with a pillion onboard.

Max FE i got was 50kpl during run in period and worst was 30kpl

Hey all, this is a preventive measure for rusting and here I go with the process!
(NOTE: I have used some of the pics of other member's bikes. So please forgive, these are for explanatory purposes only)

                      THINGS NEEDED:

A set of Allen keys to open the tank panels
                      Screwdriver set
A Can of used engine oil
                      Grease
                      Gear Oil (If possible)
                      Knife
                      Toothbrush
                      Soap
                      Water
                      Mug/Bowl

It is a very time consuming process, so do it only when you have 2-3 hours of time at your disposal.

The main tank of the FZ looks like this:Click image for larger version

                      How to open it:
Just need to open both the side panels. No need to open the mid panels. It is better to just use a cloth dipped in engine oil and smear the whole tank with the oil or just put a few drops where rust is found.DO NOT WIPE the excess oil at the surroundings.Let it be as it is.

Other areas to be checked for rust:

The monoshock's lower part is very prone to rust.So first clean it thoroughly with toothbrush and soap to take off the dirt and mud, then apply grease/engine oil generously all over it.

The rear part of the catalytic converter also needs proper cleaning and lubing,to keep rust at bay. No need to take off the wheel Just dip the brush in oil and apply generously.

                      Other parts are marked accordingly:
Do not use engine oil here,as it will drip onto the disk brake and braking will be affected.

the header pipe is prone to rust,so apply oil generously.

We sometimes find the key very hard to turn and lock. Put some grease/oil on the key and put it in, and try to turn the key.It will be smoother now.

Use a knife to scrape off the sulphur deposits from the battery terminals and use grease. Even the ends of the rubber strap holding the battery are prone to rusting. Make sure to use black paint or grease on the parts where acid has fallen. Also top up the battery water with distilled water when you are doing this.

The tragedy is that I had typed up everything previously, but somehow got an error and everything vanished..Auto-Restore didn't work and showed something gibberish. This is my second attempt to re-type everything again for you guys.Hope you guys find it helpful enough.

dude....if he is giving u tyre for free and is charging only labour charge then would suggest u should take it up.....

coz personally i prefer stock tyres as i have felt it more stable with good control on any type of road and regarding punctures....yes....thats the main issue which i had before but it can be avoided with regular weekly pressure checks and topping up with required amount. As soon as i started to follow this religiously i never had any punctured.. (touch wood :P)...

ya other wise if he is charging u for the stock tyre, i would suggest dunlop tuffgrip, as my frnd have suggested earlier. People have used it and have pretty better review than the rest lot.....

watever it may b.. plz dont ride with that spare tyre the tyre dealer gave u......as you yourself has said it doesnt have any tread marks....and with this monsoon season it may prove fatal....

Many people suggested me to go and take the (free) deal but I am worried about the stability/handling of my bike though it would be a somewhat upgrade because I am using the spare tyre for last 3 months.

I'll ask him if he's ready to give me the stock tyre or Dunlop TG for few extra bucks and will ask him to keep the replacement tyre from MRF.

Going to meet him today, in the afternoon.

I hardly doubt if it may affect stability of the bike by large margin...we have ppl here who used 130-70 size tyres for fz/fazie...they will be able to comment more.

But wats amazing me is if that guy can provide 130-70 for free then y not 140-60??....it may b his trick to squeeze in more money from you..... just try arguing with them regarding this....they may give in who knows.....worth a try though

To add to this, I suggest using WD-40 instead of engine oil when you can. Especially on movable parts like the joints for the stands etc.
As WD-40 removes accumulated rust and for movable joints makes the motion smooth by lubricating it.
And as its name specifies, its a Water Dispersant. So it prevents rust from forming on these areas.

Easily available at hardware stores or automobile stores and costs about 300INR for a big spray can.

                                Cheers!!
