• Milage issue with Yamaha FZ 16 1 month old bile

    Hi Guys,

I have bought Yamaha FZ 16 1 month back.

Its clocked for 800kms and 1 service is done.

But i am getting only 26KMPL.(i am following reserve to reserve method)

No other issues with the bike.

Please suggest me what might be the reason for this kind of milage.

He said 140-60 tyres are not being provided by MRF as a replacement. He said that they're changing the dye and are going to introduce a new model since the old Revz (140/60) has puncture issues. Still, I wasn't convinced so he called MRF's wholeseller and switched on the Speaker phone. The guy on the other side said a similar story.

I wasn't so keen on putting MRF Revz-S 130/70 R17 so he showed me MRF Revz-C 150/60 which he offered me at 600 bucks. I was tempted by the looks of MRF Revz-C but taking into account the mileage and rising cost of fuel, I went ahead with 130/70. Total cost = Rs. 200 + 20 tip.

I've attached the pics. Yes, the bike needs a good wash.

Read up a thread where this guy did a Delhi Bangalore Solo on his FZ. Having done the stretch myself solo... just wanted to say three cheers to FZ. Wow #Capable

hey this ones also not bad......its suits the bike pretty well....but do let us know how the ride feels......any difference as such.....

also let me cross check about discontinuation of 140-60 REVZ.......if what u have sed is true then it is a good news and relief for us....

I had been to MRF showroom in B'lore yesterday to buy the rear tyre but there was no stock. The guy said the same thing - Yamaha guys are modifying the tyre and no new stock is being shipped. Said might take 2 months for the new tyre to come out.

              Hi buddy ,
Continuous ride at 90-120 kmph gives me 38-40 km/lit.

Hey all, this is a preventive measure for rusting and here I go with the process!
(NOTE: I have used some of the pics of other member's bikes. So please forgive, these are for explanatory purposes only)

                THINGS NEEDED:

A set of Allen keys to open the tank panels
                Screwdriver set
A Can of used engine oil
                Grease
                Gear Oil (If possible)
                Knife
                Toothbrush
                Soap
                Water
                Mug/Bowl

It is a very time consuming process, so do it only when you have 2-3 hours of time at your disposal.

Other areas to be checked for rust:

The monoshock's lower part is very prone to rust.So first clean it thoroughly with toothbrush and soap to take off the dirt and mud, then apply grease/engine oil generously all over it.

Not supposed to be greased. Only the lower and the upper rubber mounts needed to be greased. If rust formation is found then use WD 40

The rear part of the catalytic converter also needs proper cleaning and lubing,to keep rust at bay. No need to take off the wheel Just dip the brush in oil and apply generously.

Again not needed. The exhaust is made of mild steel hence, the chances of increase in rust formation over a period of time is normal. If one uses oil or grease then once, the exhaust heats up don't be surprised if you get a burning smell from your engine.

                Other parts are marked accordingly:
Do not use engine oil here,as it will drip onto the disk brake and braking will be affected.

Battery terminals need to be cleaned periodically and one should either apply lithium grease or use Petroleum jelly which is most effective. It will protect the terminals against carbon/sulphur built up which at times increases the resistance and leads to failure of the battery in getting charged and providing the charge to run the bike.

                WD 40 recommended

No greasing or oiling required over the bolts. If one applies greasing on the bolts then the chances of them unscrewing by themselves becomes very high. Worst case scenario, if rust is observed then use WD 40.

A strict NO NO!! If the grease/oil find its way to thr brake calipers it will lead to front brake failure and can be fatal to the rider!! No greasing or lubing recommended!!

                My pointers in bold.

                Cheers,

Guys, my ride is giving a problem i.e. though the ride is running smoothly however often while downshifting the click is missing but it does not happens every time I downshift. I use motul 5100 ss 15w50 which clocked 2400+ kms and I changed it yesterday doubting that the problem was may be due to engine oil being black, but still the problem persists. Therefore What may be the problem and how can it be resolved?
                    Thanks in advance.

Pardon my ignorance but what is the "click" you are talking about?

Getting angry at somebody is the same as getting angry with a bike that just won't go. You should stop and start thinking.

Screeching sound coming from the Front Brake. Some odd 200kms left before i complete 11k. Time to change the pads or should i get it rubbed on sand paper?
