i got my bike from the exact same dealer man. that sales guy's name is immanuel right? he was very well mannered albeit illiterate about bikes. he delivered the bike to me in exactly 2 days like he said. I admit bikerz yamaha's servicing is below average but raj yamaha is supposedly the best in chennai. I would recommend you go to this authorized private engineer who services all yamaha/honda bikes near butt road. that guy is impeccable. and about the faulty fuel meter, dont bother looking at it. its a problem on all fzs. just fill petrol when it falls to reserve. we all do the same. that guy is impeccable. its nice to hear from a fellow chennaiite. pls do elaborate on those issues with the front forks.Originally posted by jkhan69 View Post

if they have them in stock they will fit them otherwise you might have to order for a set. but they are really expensive. For me, i personally like the stock ones. they stand out in this led lit world.Originally posted by Sahil Shah View PostHey guys i wanted to change the side lights (front n rare)of my fz-s to white from the original stock....is it possible..?????And also wanted to do from SVC..so does the yamaha SVC wil change it for me and approx cost??

guys, my bike is 1.5k kms old. i had a minor fall once which tweaked the front forks. I got that fixed. But now i hear a thud from the forks whenever i go into a pothole at moderate speed. i held the front brake and tried to push the bike forward. there was no movement of the handlebar apart from going up and down because of the pushing and pulling. is it a loose headclamp. i dont remember having this problem before. it comes only at speeds of near 20km/hr. Is there a problem with my bike or is it just me? I really need your help on this one.

Bro are the stock R15 clear lens turn indicators compatible with the FZ ? And is it 500 for the entire set or for two ? either front or rear .Originally posted by deville_56 View PostOnly custom job possible. Even the LED setup sold by them glow in orange when blinking.
Not to mention that it's quite expensive too , the LED indicators cost a cool 2.8k
People ask me , why are you cribbing about the BHP ? to them I say "MORE is never ENOUGH" xbhp.com

the thing is, my svc centre is quite far away. so, i thought of getting it tightened at a good local mechanic. Is there a specific torque that must be applied or should it be tightened to the full. what are the exact torque specs?Originally posted by shuv2008 View PostI had the same problem bro, ask the svc guy for handle adjustment and tighten the bolts.. its nuthn major!

others.
There's one service guy at Bikerz, he is very good at telling non-sense. I was asking about my front fork problem and this genius was saying its because of the cleaning cloth, which I had stored under the tank near the handlebar, it causes imbalance. Don't know about bike's balance I did lose my temper for a minute there and asked him persistently to explain his logic, to which he excused himself by saying that I might lose my balance trying to take the cloth out while driving and not the bike.Originally posted by vishal monster yamaha View PostI admit bikerz yamaha's servicing is below average but raj yamaha is supposedly the best in chennai.
Service manager at Raj Yamaha canal bank road is quite friendly. He doesnt give much of bull%&*& like other do.
Guess what, the fuel indicator story happened at Raj Yamaha OMR service center
Thanks mate will try it. My bike has just around 12K mark have to get few things replaced as per the manual. Will get these done at service center this time and moreover I have few other complaints this time around along with my regular gear shifting and front fork problem.Originally posted by vishal monster yamaha View PostI would recommend you go to this authorized private engineer who services all yamaha/honda bikes near butt road.
its something similar to the one you quoted. Its something with the front fork mechanism.Originally posted by vishal monster yamaha View Postpls do elaborate on those issues with the front forks.
Am glad too mate.Originally posted by vishal monster yamaha View PostIts nice to hear from a fellow chennaiite.
Fellow chennaiites, need some information. I am planning to get projector light installed, change the spark plug to iridium one and change the turning indicators to LED, not the stock one, anyone has any info where we can get these in Chennai and the approximate cost.
Also planning to have fuel lock installed, have may petrol stealers around the place I live
, any info on this would be highly appreciated.
Fellow Fx-16 riders, please share your experience with iridium spark plug and Projector lamp, does it have any effect on performance of the battery.

I doubt it mate, I also have similar problem. Tightening fork bolt is kindof a workaround its not addressing the real issue, instead we end with a stiffer handle.Originally posted by shuv2008 View PostI had the same problem bro, ask the svc guy for handle adjustment and tighten the bolts.. its nuthn major!

for projector lights go to gp road. the cost for it is approx. 3000/-. i think it does drain out the battery sooner. remember, u wont have the luxury of high/low beam afterwards. instead u get angel eyes around the projector which switches on. The led indicators are a yamaha accesory. just order for them at the svc. they arent cheap though. I dont know much about the Iridium plugs. they help a bit and cost approx 500/-. not much to be gained apart from psychologicallyOriginally posted by jkhan69 View PostI think that's the Parking light

. I am not sure where they sell them. About the fuel lock, any motorcycle parts store will sell them to you. its quite cheap and any nearby mechanic can fit it for you.

Thanks mate will do that. Angel eyes is what that tempted me towards projector coupled with not so good stock light.Originally posted by vishal monster yamaha View Postfor projector lights go to gp road. the cost for it is approx. 3000/-. i think it does drain out the battery sooner. remember, u wont have the luxury of high/low beam afterwards. instead u get angel eyes around the projector which switches on. Want to know more on the tech spec of the projector system, what voltage and power it consumes.... will check things out at GP road.
Does anyone have experience with saddle bags on FZ16 ?

phew, all i did was take the bike to a local mechanic and explained to him my problems. He first compressed and decompressed the front forks a few times and confirmed there was a problem. then he put the bike on the centre stand and loosened the big nut on the head clamp. then, using a screwdriver as a chisel he knocked on the rings below the head clamp and adjusted them properly. after that was done, he tightened the headclamp properly and i was good to go. the front suspension feels better than new
. there is very good absorption. nothing is transferred onto the bars. i feel no thuds.
couldnt be happier. the steering too was perfect. cost of repair- rs. 10/-
. such a small price for satisfaction.

Take the bike to a good local mechanic. I got mine done in madipakkam where i live. make sure he checks whether the steering is normal too. it was a trial and error method. my mechanic is quite experienced so he figured the proper torque setting out( i couldn't get the proper torque values by calling the svcOriginally posted by jkhan69 View PostDude where did you get this done.. cant trust Yamaha on this.
) take a long test ride over all kinds of roads and make sure the bike behaves properly. no point going to the svc for this. they were the ones who screwed mine up. They didn't tighten the forks properly after fixing the bend.
. good thing its fixed now. i was worried about the potential damage it could cause.

there are two types of projectors....
1. single beam type (ONLY LOW BEAM)
2. dual beam type (LOW/HIGH BEAM)
and the drainage of the abttery depends on the illumination source you are using for the projector. if it is a 55W HID in it it will most probably drain out the battery. but installing a 35W HID or a 55W halogen wont have any\negligent effect on the battery of the FZ.
angel eyes is just an accessory and not necessarily comes with every projector.
for more info on projectors and HID you can visit a thread named basics of projectors.Timon: Orange Yamaha FZ16 2009
