Very hard to say.Ive been on my stock tyres for about 20k.all i have is 2 punctures at the rear and that the second one is very recent thanks the the very degraded road conditions here right now.
ive been through very poor tarmac.off roading and even through pot holes at over 60!
ive always maintained my tire pressure very well though.

    • 6th Service Report

      Hi All,

here is my detailed report on me FZ's 6th service:

      Odo: 11,587 kms

      Charges:

      1) Yamalube SL (20W X 40) : Rs. 270 (No motul at stock so had to live with it!!)

      2) Oil Filter: Rs. 55

      3) Air Filter: 259 (was anyways reachinf close to 12,000 kms so replaced it!!)

      4) Damper (Rubber for Stand): 76

      Problems:

      1) The neutral light would sometimes go off... got the gunk removed now all is fine.

      2) Switches became hard and at times the lights would not turn off! now all sorted after oiling the switch gears.

      3) All the standard oiling and greasing of the side and main stand and the usual chains and stuff

The front and rear brake are still in good shape. Front brakes should last atleast till 18000 - 20000 kms. the rear brake is good to go till 15-16,000 kms. So the brake are still in very good condition. Rest everything else hunky dory. She is now super happy and revving like crazy!! The spark plug is in good condition and should last till 19-22,000 kms.

      Cheers

may be your carburator was tuned and AF mixture setteing to a little lean

Actually first time i added battery water, 2nd time cleaned the terminals and the voltage was 13.3V..

With regards to the lock , the FZ lock and the fork lock isn't gonna help all that much if somebody really wants to steal your ride .
not sure which battery, but 13.3 is more than enough.. may be the problem with rectifier?!?!

Yap true, as my friend told me it can be lifted and carried to a pick up....

Due to tyre change, the fz was left unused for 3 weeks, and then it would not start. The battery was discharged and it had to be push-started. After charging and service etc, they finally replaced the battery.

I am thinking of buying a 150cc and considering Fz. This battery prob does not scare me now, as new fz has kicker. But i am worried about fz rear tyre. Does is degrade on bad roads? If we ride into a pothole at high speed, will it tolerate or get punctured. This low-profile tyre can result in rim dents too if we accidentally ride into big potholes. By the way, in bangalore, the roads are full of potoholes. Is there any radial 130/70 tyre option available for fz so i can fit that later??
If u check the air regularly no need to worry abt rim dents, kick start in FZ is nt an issue, n my personal opinion it looks ugly..
abt potholes, u have to be careful bt u can ride in rough road and u have to be careful nt to hit front brakes suddenly or else u gonna skid...

yup 1st set of pads.. even i was surprised.. when i asked the mechanic to check the front and rear breaks.. and had specifically told them to change anything that is necessary and that i will not compromise anything for my girl :P.. and to my surprise both the front and rear are still in very good shape.. and trust me i donot ride her in splendor mode... have been thrashing her throughout.. and she is still happy to rev to the redline and everytime still return 40 kmpl// I am still awaiting for my FFE from Joel.. unfortunately being stuck with projects have not been able to follow up with him but i am sure with 1.4 bhp bump thanks to FFE will change the bike's character for sure!!

I'll have to check that. Good observation...missed me. Thanks.

In the city I ride in the 5th 55-65 ....and on braking shift to third at 35 and then move up again....its a pattern...

Highways .. I maintain a 90-95. Dont even go over that...never makes sense.

                              • I always wondered how much would Engine Assistance (shifting down while braking) help in brake wear apart from being extremely efficient in stopping the bike.

As i read i get to see that many generally changed the brake pads or liners between 15k- 18k mark.

I got ma Front brake pads changed at 25k mark and the rear 1c yest at 29k...the mech after seeing the worn out break liners was like the these can go for another 2k more

as i can see.....it def gives a longevity to the breaks used.....and i use the disc brake a lot....ma braking bias is almost 70:30 (Front:Rear)
