    • Congrats Mate! Mine is just past 45K from Feb 2008. Very low riding in the past couple of years.

Your bike looks like its the early gen Unicorn? It doesn't have the tripmeter in it.

Lol! The amount of riding I did in the first 2 years would got it at least 70K by now. I met with an accident in Dec 2010 and by the time I was alright to ride again in 5 months, my son was on the way. So it was car usage for a couple of years and that brought the riding down to less than 3K kms in 2 years!

It is due for a heart transplant and AC to DC conversion very soon. Should start serious riding again after that.

Oh, wow u did alot of riding, I do about 25km a day on an average. If by heart transplant u mean engine work then u can look into joels big bore kits for uni, he's got 160 and 180cc kits specifically designed for the uni, and dc conversion I guess will cost u about 2k, id suggest u upgrade ur battery also to a higher capacity one, amaron 9ah maintainance free would be good.

By heart transplant, I mean replacement of the cylinder bore case, piston, rings, camshaft, etc. After the accident, while the bike was getting repaired at the service centre, a lot of parts were fudged to substandard/used parts and when I got the bike back a month later (the insurance claim took a month), it was a totally different sounding bike. But I realised this only after I starting riding it 5 months later. A friend had picked it up from the service centre. So I had got it temporarily fixed by my mech which has stood up well so far. It is very smooth around 45-50, but struggles to get to 60kmph, and refuses to go beyond 65kmph no matter what. Lots of vibrations from the engine too. Mileage has been excellent through out though.

I am not very inclined towards upping the bore sizes but I am definitely getting the bike converted to DC. The existing AC system provides very poor lighting and have had a few close calls recently.

So that's my long story in short.

I trust my mech more than the A.S.S after knowing what they are capable of doing. I will source the parts from Honda and get the work done by my mech. He is very experienced and frequently works on imported bikes almost every other week.

He is a qualified engineer as well and knows what he talks about.

I will nevertheless try to take pictures of the work done.

i feel getting the work done from a.s.c is better as they r trained for it. where as the no hard feelings here the mechanic outside the workshop they do a good job I am not denying the fact but after all the do try and error work, if something is not been able to done by them they immediately say bhaia yeh hum nahi kar saktain but i have also seen such mechanic who open the dam thing and say i can fix it back.

well I prefer going to the company rather taking to a outside mechanic

Hmm but if you're just replacing parts of the engine then a normal trusted mech is alright, but for engine rebore id suggest a.s.c coz they have the proper tools and equipment for such work

These are the normal feelings that any owner will have. And I perfectly understand that. I had got my bike repaired at the ASC after the accident and that's when things started falling apart in the engine. Mechanic at the asc are trained, but do not have the inclination to do a good job, like it was in my case. I have had on-off relations with ASc's for over 15 years and have never been satisfied with their standard of work. They are just out to make money. I have been a customer for this mech for over 8 years and have always been satisfied with his work.

Sinnerz, you'd be surprised at their reaction for requesting rebore work. Try asking any asc for that, they neither don't have the tools nor the time. Reboring requires high-precision lathe machines. Most ASC's don't have that. If you meant manual reboring work, then that is never advised as the machine precision can never be achieved. Even my mech doesn't do reboring by hand. He takes it to a lathe shop and gets it done.
