There are chain cleaners available from Motul as well, but as I said Kerosene does a better job at the fraction of Motul's cost.

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Get yourself a litre Kerosene bottle. Nothing removes muck and grime better than Kerosene. Also, avoid gear oil (or used engine oil) for lubing. Get yourself Tribocor chain lube or Motul chain lube and lubricate the chain as and when needed.Originally posted by Manan View Post

I remember having read a post on ADV where a comparo was done for chain cleaners. Petrol, diesel, kerosene, WD-40 etc were the test cleaners. WD-40 emerged as the cleaner which had done virtually undetectable harm to the O ring of the chain.
I use only WD-40 to clean the chain. Once it has shed all the dirt and grime overnight, I scrape it with a used toothbrush and a piece of cloth. Then I apply the second coat of WD-40 which now functions as a lube. In an emergency, if I do not have WD-40 to lube the chain, very thin sewing machine oil, used sparingly, also does the job.
Heavy gear oil is not at all advocated. For one, it degrades the O ring seals. And secondly, its viscosity causes it to stay fluid for a long time, attracting dirt by the tonne!

The controversy rages on with respect to use of WD 40 on rubber parts...
The fact is if you have Neoprene based "O" rings then there is no possibility of "O" ring damage...rubber is known to reacts with other chemicals, and Neoprene resists reacting wth oil...similarly EPDM is also good, but in the long run, heat and stress will kill it...
In the Air Line Industry which is driven by down time and profits, most of the time a sticky Door hinge is often lubed with WD 40 and the Air craft released to fly....Ever since an accident of a door failure leading to a door flying out during flight, WD 40 is strictly prohibited in the Air Line Industry for such quick fixes...
The FAA strictly prohibits use of WD 40 in the airline Industry....

Re: Honda CBR 250R
i posted the link of experiment from AVD done on 0-rings with diffrent fluid.. including wd40 and kerosene some cpl of hundred pages back
...
actually wd-40 caused the rings to swell a bit after being soaked for 15 days and lost some strength.. kerosene were the ones that displayed the least impact..
after cleaning with kerosene just tilt the ride on side stand .. start the engine and give it a lil .. speed in 1st gear and it will jerk off all the kerosene within a few turns.. leave the ride as it is and lube it after sometime
say 20 minutes odd...
infact kerosene is one of the base components of wd-40 .

Re: Honda CBR 250R
The best lube and cleaner is Motul, trust me i am using the same on my Ninja 300 and it works wonders. They come in two spray cans set and the cleaner removes all the grime in seconds. this is to be followed by the lubricating soln.Originally posted by Manan View PostHello again,
I once posted about cleaning and lubricating my chain, so I got a decent wrench from a local hardware store which should serve the purpose.
But the problem is cleaning and lubricating, till now I cannot find a cleaner and a lubricant I tried tvs and bajaj show rooms near my locality but to no avail[ Nagarbhavi circle, Bangalore]
So now my query is, considering the knowledge about the local dealers I am going to ask for a cleaner and lubricant for bajaj 220 f considering that the chain is similar to cbr [o ring] if anyone knows of proper brands usually sold by dealers please let me know.
If that is not possible, will petrol/diesel be a safe alternative to clean and gear/engine oil to lubricate?[ experienced riders please correct me on this one]
Thank you
Manan.

Hi guys,
Am Sai Karthik, I live in Gurgaon currently but from Chennai.. Ever since my 1st service on My CBR 250R, I had this tappet noise,
I have mentioned this problem in all my services till date (4th service), but no ASC is able to solve this (2 services in chennai - JSP, 2 services in Pear honda - gurgaon).. Eventually a Packer & mover screwed my engine while transit too.. My bike cries out around 4500-6500 rpm & performance & mileage is so poor.
Lost my patience now.. can anyone help???

On topic, I upgraded to Nightbreakers and lovin' it - highway illumination is a charm and especially enjoying that moment when some cager is approaching me with high beams on, and I flash my high beams at him - I can literally see the 'wtf' expression on his face!
BTW...I have 2 ultra-bright 3W projector LEDs lying around. Bought them off ebay to use as pilots, but they have a very narrow/spot focus, so not much use when fitted in the stock assembly. Any suggestions how they can be better utilized? Posting a pic for reference...
