The gear shift is a bit hard now, what could be the reason? Could it be the less lubrication of the chain? How can get it smooth?

Getting used to the seat, suspension and riding posture.. On the riding part, I'm shifting the gears around 5k rpm, is that fine? Because at this point, the sound from the engine make me feel that I'm over-revving it. Till now, my max. speed is 80kmph 5th gear.. I hope I'm going good with the running-in procedure!!

Suggest me if I'm doing something wrong..
well you can change the 1st , 2nd and 3rd gear post 3.5k rpm.. safer side keep it 4k.. 80 in 5th gear is i assume close to 5.5 k rpm is fine.
honda never said not to redline the bike just dont be too harsh on it.. and on empty roads do give short bursts of speeds but not for long time..

rest if you feel the gear shifting is getting clunky.. get the clutch cable adjusted. if the free play of lever is more get it tightened..
and get the chain slackness set properly..

and why would would ride max 80th in 5th gear ?? you can do 80 in 6th .. infact at speed of 65 and above or 4.2 k rpm in 6th and above is just fine..

Thanks, was making sure that I don't mess up the new engine.. Will follow this now..

First mileage calculated and it is coming about 33-34kmpl.. I hope it'll increase after first service, done 220 kms till now.

        • Got my red lady delivered today after a long, long wait! No accessories provided with bike, very disheartening! Not even a complimentary bike cover
Driven her for around 30kms today. Everything is butter-smooth and it doesn't feel like new bike. My wife too found the pillion seat very comfortable. However, parking is a big PITA (I had grossly overlooked this fact when choosing the bike!)
My only gripe is that somehow, the showroom guys have messed up my RVMs. They initially refused to fit the RVMs, asking me to come back later to get it fitted. After a fight, they got it fixed, but something's badly wrong with the positioning of the mirrors, I can barely see what's behind me, even with lots of adjustments.

Have ordered a Xena XX6 disc lock alarm from kneedraggers, hopefully that (combined with a bike cover) should deter any miscreants (I have to leave her outside my gate due to lack of parking)

Congratulations on your new bike. Have a happy run-in.
If you have to consistently park outside your gate, pls be really, really careful. Having a Xena would certainly help, also think of getting a chain to tie the bike to whatever possible. The reason for me stressing so much on this is that two of my very close friends' R15 got stolen in a very similar way, with the bike parked outside the gate. Its completely disheartening when something like this happens.

what's with the RVM's the shaft moves as well as the mirror. if you find to move the shaft .. then take the rubber cap off the shaft end and loosen out the screw a bit and it will move freely..

How difficult is it to remove the hugger? Is it possible to install another (additional) hugger, like the P200NS?

Also, has anybody tried any solutions to prevent scratches on the exhaust shield? Mine's just 2 days old and I've already got a scar on my exhaust shield. AFAIK, vinyl stickers won't work as they will peel off from the heat. Any other solutions?

i am running my exhaust with a 3M vinyl since 6 months.. and even after a marathon 250 km speed run.. no signs of it peeling from anywhere.. check my album to see the vinyl..

Looks great buddy...can you tell me how did you remove the hugger. Is it possible through the toolkit available or we have to take it to svc.

The vinyl won't come off the heat shield because it doesn't heats up...there is a gap between sheild and actual muffler which prevents the heat shield to get heated...so go on and get it vinyled!!!!

                              • Thanx sid.......its a pretty straightforward job you would need a 10 no: spanner and four bolts has to be taken off (two on each sides) and it comes out very easily.
