Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
As suggested by Rohiit sir, you should claim insurance because damage is quite in higher side. Consult with showroom & insurance guys, ask them what will be estimated repairing cost and what all things will get covered under insurance.Originally posted by Andy_kristine View Post

Tank alone will set back by 5-6KOriginally posted by Andy_kristine View PostThat is my dilemma, the bike is infact under insurance and I'm in a confusion whether to claim insurance or fix the bike by paying for the repair with out claiming any insurance. Till date I have never claimed Insurance. I gotta consider all the facts such as no claim bonus, and stuff. And I also heard that the money paid by the insurance company will decrease by 20% for each claims. I'm a eal noob when it comes insurance and other legality stuff. If the cost of repair can be estimated then I can easily decide whether to go for or not.
Fairing 2-3K
H/L Assy : 2K
Tidbits: 2k
This is a very vague estimate but : 5+2+2+2 : 11K minimum.
no claim bonus max will be 500Rs .

Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
OMG! the estimate is incomparable with no-claim bonus. I'd be going for the insurance then. Thanks for the replies. Now I learnt what to do.Originally posted by RohIIT View PostTank alone will set back by 5-6K

Besides all that, are you okay? Doesn't look like a small crash to me...Originally posted by Andy_kristine View PostOMG! the estimate is incomparable with no-claim bonus. I'd be going for the insurance then. Thanks for the replies. Now I learnt what to do.

I'm totally fine, Thanks for asking.Originally posted by hatebreeder View PostBesides all that, are you okay? Doesn't look like a small crash to me...
My glove took a massive hit, I've posted the same on the universal riding gear thread. The jacket also ripped off at the shoulders. I just suffer some swelling on the left hand and left shoulders. Besides this, the rider behind got everything on his action camera. I'm waiting for him to send the footage to me.

Isn't it swell to go back and rewind those crashes, and what better way than a video, isn't it.Originally posted by Andy_kristine View PostI'm totally fine, Thanks for asking.

There's always some good in a bad. As other have chimed in, get your insurance for good, everything about the R15 is comparatively expensive to its Yamaha counterparts. Don't worry about this year's insurance claim. Keep us posted.

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
The girl said, 'NO!'
And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.
THE END

Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
Sure, I will. Though I crashed the day wasn't bad for me. The initial condition of the bike was totally immovable after the crash. Few guys at the group, fixed the bike back to ride able condition with just a handful of tools we got. The way all the other 10+ riders paced down to around 40 kmph for almost 200kms, to secure me form external traffic on our ride back home felt great. True feeling of motorcycling brotherhood was felt.Originally posted by B7ACKTHORN View PostIsn't it swell to go back and rewind those crashes, and what better way than a video, isn't it.

Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
Hi friends.
Just came across TUNEBOSS ECU for R15 V2 Online . And I'm interested to install it on my ride. Any suggestions for it.
Do Any one installed it already here ?
How is it compared to POWERTRONICS RS/RR.?Its always better to sweat than to bleed. Wear helmet.

Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
Frankly speaking, using an aftermarket ecu to boost performance of a 150cc mil isnt worth it. The max they can do is improve a bit on throttle response and deactivate the rev limiter. Better of saving and buying a higher cc bike in some years.Originally posted by Ram Shankar Ramasamy View PostHi friends.

Just my thoughts. Dont take it otherwise. I have heard a lot of complaints of powertronic ecus whereas Tuneboss is something I havent heard of.

Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
Dear owners.
Here goes my long story short. After using Hero Puch Shakti, Lml Vespa, HeroHonda Passion and Bajaj Discover, I finally bought the RE 350 for better commuting and to explore the biker in me. It was very good, comfortable and powerful to carry us (me and girlfriend - now wife) anywhere.
But then it felt less powerful on our Leh trip and gave so much trouble. So I gave up on the 350 and bought RE 500 DS. Nice power, quick acceleration.
Too much fun in the beginning but later it started showing its character. Vibration Mode ON. After every 200-300km or so (or any rough ride) you have to take it to the garage to fasten all the nuts and bolts. I ride 60 km everyday and this vibration mode was not making any sense, and day by day I was getting more responsibility from family side and less time for me and my bike. The thought of going to the garage and getting the bike ready for weekend rides became pain (followed by post ride visits for tightening nuts and bolts). So one fine day I decided to downgrade from the 500 and started looking for another option. Safe, solid and smooth. (Now wife commuting by car so no need to be pillion friendly) and thus began the search for the best trouble free and high performance bike. Also almost at the same time i started figuring out a whole new world of biking, bike control, speed control, braking, body positioning and cornering - reading lots of blogs and forums. And finally decided to sell the 500 and temporarily buy an R15 because i found it's the best in class in terms of quality and performance.
But the fu***** body position is damn weird (sports vs i was used to cruiser) therefore it was bought with the thought that it is a temporary, in-between bike. With the help of my cousin who owns a 2009 R15, I took a chance and bought a used 2013 white 10000 km run bike. i didn't even take a test ride. My brother rode it and said the bike is perfect . So we paid the cash and rode her home. I had a feeling that i may not like the sitting position and in that case, will sell it and try other option.
The next few days were slow and a bit painful but only a bit as the bike was butter smooth and I was used to a thumper. I gave it for a full service at an Authorized service center, paid bill of INR4500, which is too much according to my brother and a very normal bill to me (as an enfield owner) but the bike needed a full service. Both break pads changed and I added Teflon coating as well.
It's been almost 9 months, 22000 km (12000 from my side) the bike is still with me and i am loving it. In my experience it has superb build quality. Pickup feels a bit slow initially but once you cross 5k rpm it feels really smooth. And in the last 9 months I have never visited a local mechanic for any temporary work apart from chain cleaning. (Even for a few Sundays my wife asked - don't I have to go to the mechanic friend for any repair or something, which we used to plan and sometimes go together as it used to be a chit chat point for all biker friends and even their wives
). So here I saved a lot of time for myself and family. Now I just get it serviced every 3k km and I'm enjoying it! No need to think twice before getting onto the highway for weekend rides anymore. it goes on triple digit speed without acting up or anything. And no difference even after big rides. This bike is just surprisingly amazing.
I would like to thank all you awesome people on this forum for jotting down yoir experiences. It made me buy this bike, thanks a ton guys. Yes I am slightly older (age wise) to ride this kind of bike but why not? Life is not over and I am still in the game..
Ride On.......
Am I done here ????--- Not a chance! We are human and get bored really fast and easily.. so what's next? ..

Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
Need to know how much kms your bike has done. When was the last time you got the chain cleaned & lubed?Originally posted by PallavZ View PostWhy is my chain making a periodic grinding noise. Do I have to clean it.?
Grinding noise as in? It might be chain slack or sprocket wear or wheel out issue.Yamaha RX135 (1998) - Stolen

When in rolling in around 40kmph there is a periodic(at regular interval) ghirr......ghirr.....sound my bike has done 5938 kms and the chain was lumber and cleaned around 1000 kms back.!Originally posted by chiragsthakur View PostNeed to know how much kms your bike has done. Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
Firstly, its 1000kms so my opinion that its time for chain cleaning n lubing.Originally posted by PallavZ View PostWhen in rolling in around 40kmph there is a periodic(at regular interval) ghirr......ghirr.....sound my bike has done 5938 kms and the chain was lumber and cleaned around 1000 kms back.!
As far as the sound goes, just lean your bike on your lap with side stand on. It will allow the rear wheel to spin freely, and just observe whether the sound is still coming when the rear wheel is spinning but not touching the ground. Also same time check the rear wheel wobble. If present then its a wheel out issue, which I dont think is the issue with your bike.
To check chain slack, just try pressing the chain (refer image) with a finger. Apply pressure and release. If the chain has vertical movement then you need to adjust the chain slack. The provision is provided to set it right.
My second (sprocket) guess doesnt count as your bike has done relatively less kms on odo.
