Thing is; no matter how low the fuel gets, the fuel meter wont go into F mode(reserve meter).
That's scary and you run the risk of ruining the fuel pump.
Get the float checked at the SVC. Maybe it's always stuck in the bottom-most portion after it hits a certain level and hence it never indicates reserve. Or else, replace the meter itself.

RR costs 1941+ taxes only for the 3 phase electricals (2011-2014 maybe) and around 900 for the latest single phase(post 2014) versions .I don't think any present bike has RR worth 350 bucks.

Hey guys when I turned ignition today I got 46 code. 4 long beeps 6 short ones. Does that mean is my battery weak as the error code means faulty power supply to the ecu? I have never had problems with battery. Starts at the first crank every morning
What might be the problem guys

Besides most of us extend drain intervals which isn't good either..
I used 300v for almost 30k, it was all good initially it take a toll on your engine eventually..
If you are willing to open up n replace bore on your engine at 60-70k, while R15 can last more than a lakh easily, go ahead and use FS oil..

+1 to that one close save was sufficient, never ever touching that again. In my 1 lakh km running i used it for 1900 kms once although it revved awesome and engine felt free one look at the dipstick after 1500 kms and literally my head went into a melt down. After draining the oil had decreased by 350+ml and the mechanics were ready with a spare bore to fit.Had to do a compression test and checked the valve seats for leakage literally the engine was dismantled and estimates went upto 11+k. Don't know why i just asked the guys to repack the engine and went back home junked the oil and tried regular oil and it was fine and still going on bike running more than 1 lakh km on stock bore.Paid the service charge for all the labor but took this as an useful lesson.

Ya although i don't ride like a track fiend punching the red line in all gears but i do ride a bit spiritedly(which you are bound to do in any low torque high revving bike like R15).

I have the same oil level drop issue, no matter what oil I use. About 100ml loss for each 1000 kms. I shift around 7-8k rpm. There's a bit carbon deposited at the exhaust end too.
But the svc mechanics say oil drop is normal, and they are not willing to open up the engine.

Can the fi machine in svc do compression tests? because when I asked to do a compression test, they said its normal and they did it on the fi machine.

My 2 cents and its my personal opinion, i use cheap oil preferably less than 500 bucks of correct rating( 20w50- motul 3100 gold/ 15w50- motul 5100/ 10w40- shell AX7) and throw the oil as soon it reaches 1500-1800 kms and i am happy. Instead of using a horridly expensive oil for 1000 bucks and dragging it for 4k kms with probable top ups.Engine gets fresh oil every 1500-1800 km and cost remains same as putting a twice as expensive oil and using it for 3500-4000 kms(not counting the top ups). So peace of mind.
The recommended grade is 20w40/20w50 and i am happy with the oils i have mentioned.

So you want to use motul 7100 10w40 and i use an oil of similar rating and it works fine so i think it won't be an issue but drain intervals and if it evaporates or not that i won't be able to comment on as i have never use 7100 10w40 but i used 7100 20w50 once but drained it at 2000 kms ( because of a head gasket change) and the oil was fine with no significant reduction in oil levels and color was same red like it was when i poured it out of the bottle.

I am an old school guy so if i find any carbon deposits in the exhaust coupled with reduction in oil levels in any Fi equipped 4 stroke i would be worried and proceed for root cause analysis( pardon my IT jargon )
                .

Don't know about Fi machine (know FID tool and CO testing machine) but i have a compression gauge which i picked up and used that.

If your chassis number starts with 2FB then that's a single phase electrical R15 its RR unit wiring and the RR (cost around 900 is correct for you) and ECU is all different mine was a 1CK1 (3 phase electricals) version so my RR costs 1941

I think I didnt convey properly. At 3000km the bike went for the 2nd service and oil has been replaced. In another 500kms the bike is due for the 3rd service. I thought of changing Motul 7100. There is no drop in oil level but in the second service, I am sure they have fiddled something in the ecu CO setting. There are some carbon deposits in the exhaust and I am getting reduced mileage of around 44~45kmpl. Before the service I was getting around 51~52 kmpl. Regarding the visor vibration I have fixed by opening the visor and put a double sided tape between black plastic and the visor. This has completely taken off the vibes.

you just asked me if you can use motul 7100 10w40 and i answered to that.

Regarding the carbon thing check the plugs and oil level. If the plugs are dryish black then its rich if oily dark then leaking inside.
My current pulsar 220 had a stuck auto choke system and there was carbon all over the plugs and exhaust but oil levels were fine.
So running rich can lead to carbon deposits too .

Regarding the mileage can't comment on that as your injection system is different to mine. The best i got was 46 and i always get 38-42kmpl.

BTW i am running at a Co level 0 was running at 3 with K&N filter but reverted back to zero after the filter was junked.

I used to have sleepless nights thinking about it.
But touching the engine is a costly affair and inexperienced mechs can do more harm than good.

Since im keeping the bike for life, I will let it run like this for now. Other than the oil reduction, there's nothing wrong with the bike. Its smooth, its fast and returns healthy mileage.
let's see with regular top up how many kms the engine will last.

                      Cheers.

If it makes you feel better let me tell you that my bike consumes the same amount in around 600 km. Frequent excursions close to the red-line (8k upwards) is where the most severe oil consumption occurs on my bike. If i kept it below 8k i could probably go the full service duration without a top-up.

Its really shocking that a LC4V also consumes oil ... I thought the clearances are really tight for r15 Engine.

For air cooled engine its absolutely ok to consume a little oil.

I also think and feel that a lot of oil is lost in the form of vapours from the crank case breather than actually getting into combustion chamber.

In my case there was no noticeable oil in the air box neither and neither the plug was dirty but the oil was 350 ml less and was still green in color and looking fresh.
So it was a bit of oxy-moronic situation that baffled me and so from that point onwards i treat 300v as you will treat an infected carcass(i.e. stay far away from it). the clearances is fine in a R15 engine but i think the oil is ill suited for indian overall riding conditions. Though i have seen many R15s with s**t loads of oil in the air box after using 300v other FS oils.
Not wanting to start a war or anything but i find R15 more sensitive to small things (oil grades, temperatures, fuel quality etc ) so am always more careful with what i put in this bike when compared with my 220 but again this is an advanced machine than 220.
P.S. my personal opinion (as i own both currently) ,no need to be tensed and go all cannons out against me if you don't like it

Doesnt Apache RTR2004V have similar tires to ours? 90/90R17 and 130/70R17? Anybody tried those pirellis on the R15? Would they be good tires to switch to?
Also, i cannot seem to find which pirellis they are using. Any idea which ones they are?

Yesterday check out my best friend's R15S ... His bike is brand new have done 1400 kms so far.

When I checked his bike's exhaust for carbon I was shocked. Not a single dot of carbon :-o

I own a Fazer v2.0 ( done 7000 kms ) and the exhaust has good amount of carbon deposition.

My fazer loses 100 - 150 ml of oil every 3000 kms. I am using Yamalube mineral oil manufacturer recommended one.
