• Re: KTM Duke 200 Start up problem

Your Starter Coil has gone brother. It\'s in initial stage. Get it replaced ASAP for free, if Your bike is <2-years old.
Things may get worse as the days progress. I had similar issue, rode for 5 days. Just the day before taking it to service center, the bike didn\'t start. I was about to tow in an Auto for 1.5K, but luckily charging the Battery Jugaad came handy and immediately started my bike and rushed to SC.

ATB.

i had gone thru the washing , sanding disc pads, replacing disc pads under warranty. finally the disc rotor itself was replaced. this happens due to glazing, and i think maybe these brake pads might be poor quality or the one that came with my bike could have been a \'defective\' piece that cause the rotors to glaze. I use the front brake 80% of the time.
only time will tell if the current pads and rotors (that were replaced under warranty) could develop the same noise. btw this happened to me Around 2000km / two months of ownership. which asc do you go to ? Don\'t let them make you run around cleaning ,sanding parts .. if it doesn\'t fix it in one or two tries, push for replacement and ALWAYS make them open a job card and WRITE YOUR COMMENTS (like \'under observation\' , \'not fixed even after visiting svc 3 times\') and keep a copy. If you just go by verbal promises then it will be a \'raat gayi baat gayi\' situation and you will continue to run behind them without closure.
one alternative to replacing disc rotor (if you are not under warranty) is to have the rotor resurfaced or sanded down with a fine grit sandpaper.

i have also enquired if there are any local or compatible (from other bikes) brake pads that fit the d200..but alas did not find any.

Friend owns a 200 and the ASC keeps telling him that the chain cannot be replaced separately. That it must be changed as a set - with the sprockets. Is this true? What is the cost breakdown? The sprockets seem fine and that is why I had suggested him to get only the chain replaced.

Also, the \"Ready to Race\" is not displaying at all on his meter. And ASC again says that the whole meter has to be changed. Is that so? And cost?

Coming to the first part, yes when a chain or a sprocket wear is detected, changing them in uniform as a set is the recommended procedure, changing just one of the trio would induce a faster wear on the newer component as well as the older component.

Secondly, yes, if the bike doesn\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'t display R2R, then yes there is a problem with the console, and a replacement might be necessary.

Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

THE END

DIY Fork boots. Used one and a half pulsar fork boots to make one for the duke. Cost Rs. 80 Fastened them using cable ties as attaching velcro is difficult.

Hello everybody, new member here.
I am about to purchase a new bike soon and wanted some opinions about the same.
My choice right now is Duke 200 and I wanted to know whether there are any better bikes that I can consider in a similar range.
Height- 5\'5
Weight- 62 kg
Budget- 1.5 lakhs
Use- Mainly city travel, occasional weekend trips
Also one of my concerns is whether the Duke will suit me for my height.

Always go for the chain kit replacement. Sprockets won\'t look visibly bad, but as Naveen said, it would expedite chain wear and the cost difference is not much.

There is harsh sound when I lock my rear tire hitting the brake, no matter what speed it is. Are you all experiencing that or is it just me?

Bro, we\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'re both in the same situation right now.We\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'re pretty much the exact same height and weight. What matters more than your height is your inseam, that is the length from your crotch to the bottom of your feet. My inseam is around 31\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\" and i could almost flat feet the duke wearing sandals during the test ride(i know i know). With some proper riding shoes, i\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'m sure i can flat foot it, so you should be able to do it as well.

I tried the 200NS today and I was able to sit on it with half my foot touching the ground. Is the duke taller than NS or is it shorter?

I haven\'t personally sat on the 200NS, so i can\'t say for sure. From what i\'ve read online, the NS seems to be taller than the duke, so you shouldn\'t have any problems. I\'m sure that we can flat foot the duke with proper shoes.

I am 5\'6\" and weigh about 60 kilos. I tip toe the bike all the time except when my choice of foot wear is Woodlands. TO be honest, in 1.5L budget, you could possibly round up everything possibly available to Mango Man(Aam Aadmi). Your usage is pretty simple and clear and this makes easier for me to suggest but difficult for you to choose. The options available to you are - KTM D200, Yamaha R15, P220, P200NS, Yamaha FZ/Fazer, Suzuki Gixxer and many more to name a few. Personal favorite - Yamaha R15 and Suzuki Gixxer although I own a D200 myself. You are looking at the fuel efficiency of about 28-33 KMPL depending on the area of usage (city, highway, combined). The fuel tank is tiny 10.5L out of which it is good to save about 2L of fuel to avoid damaging the fuel pump. Effective usable fuel capacity - 8.5L = 250-265kms.
Take a test ride of all and decide which one suits you better, the one which makes you happy.

I am a little confused with the statement. Why would you want to lock the rear tyre? In any case, check the rear brake pads, most likely they are gone and you are hearing the metal-metal contact noise. Else, the disc rotor(circular disc/plate) might be bent, causing uneven wear and tear.

Well I tried the D200 and it was too tall for me. Tried P220 today and it suits me fine. Just one question about it- how does it having a carburetor instead of fuel injection affect the experience? Is acceleration without the engine sufficiently heated up a major problem?
