I still think the mechanic was good but you have to ask.

One interesting thing, svc center guy topped up some engine oil from already opened Motul 7100 bottle. He was saying that bottle actually has bajaj oil in it. Why would you do such dumb thing. Moreover, one will never know exactly what type of oil one actually have in his bike. best case, buy your own oil bottle and use it.

At what RPM do you shift gears?

I don't ride hard all the time, but when i do, i shift late, 7-8 or max 9. Usual riding , i shift at 4-5 RPM

I don't remember when was the last time I shifted below 5k rpm(seriously) ,my shifts usually occur after 7.5 k rpm.,because I purchased this bike for a reason ,that was not to ride like a splendor. Why else would i've had spend double the money if I were to ride like a splendor. !

To get the maximum mileage from her, try shifting >4K RPM for each gears... which will land you at a decent speed of 60Kmph+ and a wonderful mileage of 40-45kmpl. It depends, not all would want to drive it like a splendor. But driving fast isn't the only way of exploring your bike, my opinion. I keep getting 42-43kmpl (2014 model). I pretty much like the hidden ferociousness of the NS. I use power only when needed, otherwise drive at sane 60-70kmph. I feel more comfortable at 60\80 kmph

Few tips for reduced maintenance\unnecessary problems
            1. Drive softly on potholes
            2. Warm up engine
            3. Don't redline always, use power only when needed (Eg, overtaking, cruising at highway)
            4. Always try to shift to top gear when possible
            5. Use proper clutching\throttle control at each gear shifts (Helps in reducing your chain slack issues)

~3000kms and no complaints on gear-shifts, have used no chain lubing till date (making sure chain is clean), Stock engine oil but butter smooth shifts, splendid mileage, less vibes

Changing to Motul doesn't seem necessary for my bike. I don't think it's necessary for most of the NS bikes (For normal rides) if ridden sane and maintained with care, unless you want a crunchy acceleration\high speed cruising smoothness

when will the world change i wonder..
Its cause of guys like that, the companys build crappy engines with extra clearance so no one ceases their engine.

Right said. Drives like a mad, ruins the bike, writes bad reviews on bikers community and creates bad reputation.

You should have overtaken him and warned him , because NS should be able to take RS down in the 0-100kmph

During the first service, I asked the service center guy to do half clutch setting. He was reluctant to do so and said that my clutch pad's will wear out soon. I didnt give a damn since the full clutch is taking toll on my hands in heavy traffic but still curious to know how much truth in his sentence. Any experience eon the same?

I too did receive the same from svc guys. But I'd better save my hands rather than losing the clutch plate wear\tear. However compare with duke, i feel after all not that rough though.

Same for me, they wouldn't adjust the tappets saying it will reduce mileage, they also wouldn't adjust my clutch saying gears will get harder.

this bike is meant for power
I dont know why bajaj has jetted it so lean that it runs like its running out of fuel
its jetted as lean as a 150cc bike only the emulsion tube has less and smaller holes to keep it slightly rich at high speed to giv it a slightly better top speed
                            this is called fuel starvation
38-50kmpl is insane for a 200cc bike with such a high compression ratio and such a short stroke
I just ordered a k&n stock replacement filter from amazon
Im going to jet it too and also change the emulsion tube for better atomization of fuel
any one using an after market filter especially nylon filters lik the k&n filter please soak the filter in oil 1st and let the excess oil drip off
ive seen my unicorn engine get destroyed cauz of an unoiled k&n filter
its like running without a filter cause of the quite large gaps in the filter
you can actually see the light through it

The K&N is pre-oiled from the factory. It's pink because that's the colour of the oil.

Even I shift at more than 6k rpm in my 220 whenever there is free space but consider this scenario inside city where the fastest lane of traffic moves at max 65-70kmph, do you keep the bike at constantly above 7.5k rpm in 3rd or 4th gear just because it isnt splendor? I dont think that would be pleasant experience..
