You are right, it adjusts. But the 'cv effect' really comes into play only when you open the throttle, ie from medium to high revs (and loads). At idle and low throttle openings the mixture varies with altitude because the cv effect doesn't really come into play.Originally posted by John P Daniel View PostBut isn't a cv carb supposed to adjust to the altitude atleast a little? You will notice the high altitude effect when you find that the idle and low end of the bike is not the same as before.
Mixture remains almost same at low or high altitudes, when you ride at medium/high throttle. That is what cv carbs are for.
All that is required to do when you go from sea level and settle in a higher altitude place is to adjust the pilot jet mixture setting screw.

So if I'm touring through a high altitude region, I don't need to adjust the carb. And if I'm to stay at the higher altitude, I either have to tune lean or reduce pilot jet size. In either case, the main jet remains the same. Around 5% is the maximum increase in bhp you'll get. If you think that's worth it, you can go for it. Re-jetting is just changing the main jet in the carb from 115 to a bigger size, say 117.5. The jet may cost 50-100 bucks, that's all. Remove (unscrew) old jet, put new one. That's it.Originally posted by tanirbhay View PostHow can I re-jet the main jet in carb. I remember someone posting here about AFR turns. Like about the way the bike behaves for every .5 turn of the screw. I went back almost 100 pages back but couldn't find the post( my bad😐
and I also forgot the guy who posted it. If this post comes into his attention please help.
Lately I have set the AFR to 2 turns. Now am experiencing cold start issues which was not present earlier.

NS200 Brake Pedal Hack and Bye/Bye Tyre Skid MOD
NS is famous of Euroslips apart from awkward brake pedal positioning. After experiencing skewed foot position I just found the sweet spot of it as an exchange what you guys have feed me with. I should thank many for how much you have helped me. I'll discuss the procedure below
- Unclip the brake switch spring and remove the brake pedal.
- Adjust the piston which actuates the master cylinder/brake fluid reservoir such that only 10mm lies below the nut (when screwed inside the )
- Now rotate your brake lever and put down to the bottom most position such that when you press the pedal, the piston can actuate the master cylinder.
- Do this on trial and error basis such that you've reached the right position where the brake pedal is in lowest position from the foot rest and rear brake just bites, note just bites.
- Now lower the piston (you need to send more than 10mm below the nut) which actuate the master cylinder, if it locks when you tap/press the brake lever under normal pressure /or/ raise the height of the piston if you need more bite /or/ remove the pedal and rotate counter clockwise (raise the pedal) and insert it, if there is hardly no bite or require a significant improvement in biting keeping the piston in same position. You should experiment here till you reach what you want, you can read my experience in the footnote of this post. There is no rule book here.

This is what call as the piston which actuate the master cylinder and the nut I was mentioning is just spot on.
My final results were the rear brake almost never locks, even I press hard it just squeezes and bites and slows down the rear but doesn't bite 100% but 70%-80% which is sufficient enough for me. I had painc braking under this setup where the rear brake was bit was good since I applied significant amount of pressure under panic attach but outcome was it didn't skid which used to happen earlier.
And DO NOT reattach the brake lever spring as it may pull back the brake lever. I use both brakes, so the tail lamp will glow when I brake. I'm trying to unwind the brake pedal spring to accommodate this change in height but not much of a success. If you find one to attach the brake switch spring, do share it here with us.

Brothers, I shifted to Bangalore from Madurai, TN a week back. Am bringing my bike here via train within this weekend. Are there any things I have to do since I am changing from one state to another....??
Do I have to Pay the road tax again Here in Karnataka too ?? And what about the registration buddies...?? Do I have to change that too ??
Presently staying in Madivala. Any info on Good Mechanic in that area will be Helpful...

I just moved from Chennai to Bangalore two weeks back. One hell of a trouble if you want to move legally. No issues if you want to ride illegally and just pay hundreds when caught
First things first.
1. Make sure you cover your bike headlight section, dashboard, fairing side (and other places where it can take hit easily) with a thick sheet and then wrap adhesive tap all around. I've always found the railway guys way of packing unsafe. FYI, I've brought it through packers and it was very safe. Check this page or goto 2512 page where I have posted a picture
My bike arrived with "Zero" scratch.
2. Try to keep the fuel in reserve. Advisable is about 0.5-1 liter and not more in reserve. Turn the petcock to fuel off position
3. Take all your original papers.
4. Remove side mirrors
5. Keep a back up of your shipment copy (in case of train, the receipt)
Now coming to riding at Bangalore, the other state issue.
1. You can ride free of cost for 11 months from the date of entry, here from your receipt (train parcel) date.
2. If you plan to stay longer than a year, you will need to then pay road tax. 100% road tax if vehicle is <2 years old. Then need to change KA registration as well, but after paying road tax.
3. For such case, you need to get an NOC from Madurai RTO (near your area where you registered your bike). To get NOC, you need to first get Clearance certificate from the commissioner office in Madurai itself. Well, if you are looking for a long time stay say 2-5 years, then this is the best approach. Your bike presence is not required, but you need to get a stencil copy of your chassis number in all four copies of form 24.

4. Also remember, while applying for NOC, you need to mention which area you are going to stay. And you need to get that area RTO code as well. Please note you need PUC certificate as well for all these process. If under hypothetication, then you need to get a clearance from Bank too
5. Before you start your rubber to be burnt on the streets of Bglore, I'd advice the following checklist ready
a. NOC certificate
b. At least the parcel receipt if NOC takes time
c. RC and Insurance copy
d. Pollution copy (PUC)
e. Company ID card (good to have)
f. License copy
You never know what the cops will ask for when they see other state numbers. While cars are the major victims, bikers can easily manage. Esp at peak hours they never catch you
Now coming to bangalore rides
1. Heck, the traffic will be pathetic, mostly you'll be doing 10-20kph at peak time. And nowadays I've been getting an idea to buy a bike (bicycle) to get to my office, mine is just 3.5Km and it takes 20-25 minutes daily.
2. Watch how people ride, I've already got my right leg crushed by a biker, my shoe saved me some extend, got hit thrice at my rear tyre hugger by other bikers and one more scratch on my left leg, while a guy took a turn without watching my hand signal and indicators. Going crazy and opening all eyes...
3. Easily you'll get tired if you plan to ride >10 Kms a day (one way). Because it will take >1 hour many times to cover up that distance. I've given up the idea of riding long distance in traffic.
4. Police will be watching you regularly, so at peak times you have 0 problems in riding with other state registration and without papers. But weekend, you will always be tightly watched. + late night ride as well + no helmet.
Apart from this, there are many small nearby rides that can make you feel refreshed. I'm yet to go out, waiting for some xbhp-ians to accompany. You are most welcome :-)

For mechanic, I've just completed 4th service and have filled Motul 7100. Plus my daily commutes are very less <10 km and some days I'm not even taking my NS. I stay near Marathahalli. I'm too yet to find some good one.... hope some Bglore guys can helpLast edited by jbm_guy; 05-25-2016, 03:26 PM.

Kind of a noobish question which most probably know the answer to - is it possible that the hardness of the engine to have seemingly low end torque be related to a rough throttle due to accel wire issues ? At first i thought i thought it could be the piston however post 5k it zooms way past 100 at 7k easily on a windless day. I am yet to try the spacer suggestion given by ujjwal.
Additionally, i am also facing an issue of a louder than normal engine. Any suggestions as to what i could poasibly look into ? Gaskets ? Rings ? Carb cleaning ? Anything ? As was suggested to me i got the engine mounts checked however they turned out to be fine. As it is there are no vibes till the time i dont emulate Rossi on his 49. Even then they creep in once i cross the 120 mark which is good to go.
