Ignoring the exterior gear-lever inefficiencies we sometime here a loud "THUD" sound when you downshift amid bumper-2-bumper traffic. It like someone hit the transmission with a hammer. What exactly is happening inside there, what's the source of this THUD sound?

That happens due to loose chain, unlubed / unclean chain, worn out rubber dampers in rear sprocket.Originally posted by Freak inExile View PostIgnoring the exterior gear-lever inefficiencies we sometime here a loud "THUD" sound when you downshift amid bumper-2-bumper traffic. But the sound is observed before engaging the clutch (as we're downshifting). When you press gear lever down(downshift) "THUD".Originally posted by devils_friend View PostThat happens due to loose chain, unlubed / unclean chain, worn out rubber dampers in rear sprocket.
For chain and rubber dampers to make sound there has to be a whipping action from chain, no?Last edited by Freak inExile; 07-22-2015, 04:05 PM.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
I think the reference height for headlamp given for gixxer in service centre is wrong. In my first service , i told that the headlamp is little high , so they went for the reference one they marked on a wall and adjusted and its still high. I think i should lower it fully. I tried to do it myself , but the screw wont budge with the given tool kit.
Second , does anyone feel the foot rest on left side is slippery ? or small ? When it rains , that foot rest becomes super slippery.

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
After a lot of playing around with the headlamp, I've now set it to the lowest position, Or else the high beam just doesn't light up the road. If you can't loosen the screw, ask a local mech. to loosen it for you. Between, I'm on Phillips 60/55 watts bulb.Originally posted by NRX View PostI think the reference height for headlamp given for gixxer in service centre is wrong. Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
Hi Guys,
I've been following thsi thread for a while. I'm from Chennai and last week I've paid Rs. 88418 to GMR Suzuki, Anna Nagar and I'm waiting for delivery. I've been going through Suzuki's website and their website quotes Rs. 85898 as the price for Gixxer. The price the showroom quoted includes extended warranty and Zero Dep Insurance. Both the additions cost almost Rs. 1000. But there seems to be about Rs. 1500 difference between the website and the showroom. THe showroom didnot give any discount or accessories along with the price. The payment was done last friday and the registration happened yesterday. After going through a few posts in this thread about how the dealers are over-quoting the price, I'm now wondering if my dealer did the same thing. Can someone please guide me on what to do?

You downshift without engaging the clutch? If so, you are bound to hear all sorts of noise from gearbox and screw it up.Originally posted by Freak inExile View PostBut the sound is observed before engaging the clutch (as we're downshifting). When you press gear lever down(downshift) "THUD".

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
Oh, that's fine then. I guess I was getting paranoid. I'll be getting my bike delivered tomorrow. The showroom guy has just informed me that the bike has competed registration at RTO.
It's common and most of the owners pay the extra. Why most? all of them. Website quoted price is just for the bike after registrations without any add on that these showroom charge us with. So don't worry. Have a happy time with your bike and enjoy it!
I have a few more queries :
1. I am going to drive 50 kms one way to work everyday and the ride is about 30% city and 70% highway. The stock headlight is 35w I think. Is it possible to upgrade to 55w bulb without changing the battery?
2. I've seen some posts early in this forum suggesting chain cleaning and lubrication for every 500 kms. My commuting distance would be 500 kms a week and I should probably do it every week. I've seen a link to motul website in the thread for clean and lube spray amounting to ₹. 1000. Should I buy an expensive one or should I go with the ₹100/₹200 spray available locally?
3. Can someone suggest me a good svc near anna nagar, Chennai and a contact number of possible
Please, thanks in advance

@srinath2494 and @pradeepa
Please use the meme war and word war in the PMs. Monk cleared the thread and dont let him and other mod come back to clean it all.
I dont own this bike and no intention of owning this one in near future but I love to read users reviews, their questions and answer to those questions. So please stick to the topic. If you have differences then please sort it out of this thread, use PM facility given by the forum owners.

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
Number plates, registration charges are not included in the website price [ i had confirmed that with suzuki]... X showroom+ insurance+ road tax+ saree guard+ mirror sets are included. So u have to pay for the extra accessories other than mentioned above.Originally posted by Veera kaushik View PostHi welcome to the gixxer family, Monday I booked my bike he quoted me a price of Rs. 86932 in pramaan Suzuki chennai no additional accessories , zero depreciation insurance and extended warranty. We're on different page regarding engaging/disengaging clutch...Originally posted by devils_friend View PostYou downshift without engaging the clutch? If so, you are bound to hear all sorts of noise from gearbox and screw it up.

Another one on the similar lines:

Let's see what @pradeepa has to say about the sound.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Thank you Veera kaushik ...I'm not sure about the number plate thing. Anyways, we are supposed to use IND number plate right?Originally posted by Veera kaushik View PostHi welcome to the gixxer family, Monday I booked my bike he quoted me a price of Rs. 86932 in pramaan Suzuki chennai no additional accessories , zero depreciation insurance and extended warranty. I will do this after my original battery gives up(it may take 2 years).
