Replies are after your statement bro

    Hey All,

I bought myself Pulsar rs 200 (non-abs) yellow on Saturday and man, it does catch the Eye. An awesome bike in all terms. And this is my first post on the forum.

Few queries if you guys can help me out with:

    1) I have driven around 220km already in 4 days and have reached around 130km/h thrice and due to normal driving by highway standards it normally goes upto 80kmph by itself. -

Would it have any adverse affect on the engine? If yes, what should i do now? If not, what should i take care in my first free service. I would reach 500km by next week itself.
No problem at all.infact if you always drive below 50kmph or 4000rpm then you will have piston glazing where your bike will have very hard time to get to higher speeds.but don't redline.also if possible shift gears at 5000rpm.don't always rev it until 1000 kms.And don't Babysit it!because now a days run in is basically completed in the factory itself. And pls pls change the engine oil.tomorrow itself.doesn't matter who says what.

    2) Is it useful to get a center stand? Has anyone tried that?
Absolutely.I have AS200 and the 1st thing I did was buy a centre stand.makes life way Kore easier.you can lube ,clean chain ,service yourself etc etc .I think every bike should have one.
    3) Does the bike have any form of emergency indicator where both of them glows? If yes, how to get it done? If not, how to get it without voiding warranty. I was reading the owner's manual and it said doing anything to bike without official or from service center may void warranty. Has anyone tried that.
Well there are lots of things written in the book but even the SVC guys hardly follow. You can put hazards light and that makes all the 4 indicators glow at the same time.will cost you hardly 150 bucks with the switch placed anywhere you want .best for highway rides.you can visit any good shop and they will do it for you.this is a very minor mod and by no means it voids warranty.
    4) Does the bike have a main fuel shut off, like the one's present in other standard bikes, somewhere down the engine?
No it doesn't have .this is an Fuel Injection bike and no FI bike comes with shut off button.only the carburetor bike comes with it.
If anyone would like to share any experiences with me or tips to enjoy the bike and prolong its life, that would be great.
Don't always rev the engine.yes these engine are meant to be revved but then you should only when you feel like.like an empty stretch ,then you can pretty much red line in every gear.its fun.
    Shift gears at 5K rpm.
Always follow speed to RPM ration.Eg-the bike can pull at a speed of 30 from 6th gear but you shouldn't do it.may be on 2nd or 3rd gear.
And most importantly make sure every 5000kms adjust tappets.even if the service guys says not needed still you make them do it.change engine oil every recommended interval
Bajaj oil-1500-2000,,,Semi synthetic like Motul5100-2500-3000 and fully synthetic like 7100-every 6000-7000 kms.
People might say you can stretch it etc etc but don't do it.it hardly costs any compared to bike and once you do these bike will be in supreme condition always.don't speed on potholes,go as slow as possible...
That's all I think think of bro.later once you ride you will know your bike and then you can surely maintain it at pristine condition always [emoji4]

I got 2nd service done last week. They advised me to add an additive to the engine oil for smoothness. It was costing somewhat 155 bucks. But since I had no idea what exactly these thing is, I refused them and only kept it to changing Bajaj engine oil and chain servicing. Anyone knows anything about additives to the engine oil please share some knowledge.

I can prove this if you want. I doubt any Pulsar out there has a pass switch that works once the high beam is ON. The same goes for the Discover's.

I know they have DC "Electricals", that however doesn't seem to be of much use since you can't even turn any of the bloody lights ON without first starting the engine!

Also, Excessive power drain? From what 2 seconds of flashing a bulb?!

If a bike much cheaper with a weaker battery and AC Electronics can do it, I have all the reason to believe that our bikes with much bigger batteries and DC Electronics can do it too!

            .
Minisoda is right. If you're on high beam, the pass switch is useless!

              Hi All,

I tried asking the showroom dealer after reading somewhere that the ABS offered in rs 200 is for both channels i.e applicable for both tyres (correct me if i understand this wrong) or single channel. He said it is for both.

Someone on ABS version can confirm how it is and how it works? I went with Non-abs and now thinking if i should have gone with the ABS one. Non -ABS owners, what difference does it make to you generally and why did you took the decision of NON-ABS one? Any particular reasons?

              Thanks!

The ABS is definately single channel. So, the ABS is installed only on the front tire to be deployed if there is any slippage. One thing worth mentioninng is that there are sensors on both Front as well as rear wheel. So, information from the rear wheel is also fed into the system, although only the front wheel is actioned upon by the ABS system. Hope I have made it clear.

Thanks Rachit. Can you also help me with second part of my query? If it's second channel, then mostly it would work by applying front brakes too tightly since for triggering ABS you have to trigger the front bakes with power. In that situation, won't the rear tire skid as well?

I had a situation which i want to tell: I was taking the bike in reverse. The surface was wet and slippery. Suddenly i applied front brakes and the rear tyre skidded to left and i had to ask someone to get it back to normal position since there was a car at that very point. If there was an ABS at the same point, it might have done the same thing or not? I wonder what's the concept of single channel ABS worth 13k then?

Also how is the experience of non-abs guys in rainy conditions?

I have reached 300 km on my new bike. No issues as such. Feel vibration on brake side after 60kmph. RPM seems to be on 2x1000 as soon as i turn the engine. Something i would be getting checked in first service. Is it something alarming as well? The bike is butter smooth after 6th gear. I have gone through the unconventional method of break in. Have taken to 130km/h few times and normally drive around 80km/h due to highway in 6th gear. Not feeling any such issues as of now.

Would be taking bike for First service next week. I request all to help me out in how should i get it service and what issues (unknowingly) i might have done due to the unconventional break in. Please suggest. Oil filter and change of oil are must as recommended by others. Anything else i need to get checked?

First of all ABS wont work below 10kmhr, while reversing in parking lot i bet none of ABS wont work(single/double channel)
You feel the presence of Abs only at above 40KmHr with sudden braking!!!
                    I live on highways,
I ve encounterd many situations where i ve breaked suddenly at 80kmhr you feel its pulse and Coming to halt very smoothly!(in this situation non Abs bikes try to Do Stoppie or wiggle or in worst conditions it locks front wheel and stops abruptly!!

2 sensors are there for to calculate speed difference of wheels!!
Which helps to avoid rear wheel liftoff.

I own a pulsar RS200 with ABS and i Must say the ABS is very much handy. I'm from Bangalore and the ABS has really helped me in the rainy days in Bangalore. I have experienced the rear wheel skidding with the slightest application of brake , but the front wheel has never skid or did an abrupt stop. It gives a great control and confidence to you.

Your rear wheel skid with the slightest application of brakes? That doesn't really sound good. Can someone else confirm this. I am shocked, just slight braking causes the rear to skid!

it skids on a muddy ground .. not on a dry surface.. and by the word slightest, i dint mean i cannot apply the rear brakes at all . But i am not that confident to apply the rear brakes harder

Yesterday night i had driven for around 30km/s with around 20 on highway at varying speeds less than 91km/h and remaining in bumper to bumper traffic. Now once i reached home and was without helmet just parking the vehicle i had some observations:

                              1) The heat was too much from engine.
                              2) When i was getting into 1 gear and slowly giving the race, it was giving some sort of bad sound like it's not a new bike and some issue is there. I was in some hurry at that time so left and would be riding on Monday again.
                              3) When i was taking the bake front and back in neutral, i could hear some squeezing sound while going backwards.
                              4) Once i apply 4th gear, i feel i have applied a higher gear and then need to up the speed immediately and switch ti fifth gear. Has this happened with someone else as well?

Just to keep everyone regarding vehicle info: It's a week old bike with 310km/s covered with unconventional run in method. Anything that i should specifically check for during my next ride or that requires immediate attention from fellow bikers. I am too worried now whether i have taken the right route of break in or done some damage. I would be able to go for servicing next weekend only and that means addition of more 250km to the drive.

                              Cheers!
