Hi Rushank,

Thanks for the suggestions, but I'm looking specifically for dual-purpose tyres (the ones you've listed are street-oriented). I think CEAT used to offer the Vertigo in a 130/80-17 size (rear) earlier, but I'm not sure if they still do. Also, I'll have to check if 130/80 will foul with the mudguard(s) as opposed to the stock 130/70.

I'm headed for north Bengal and Sikkim next month, and some of the terrain I expect to encounter (Sandakphu, Gurudongmar, Silk Route) will need proper dual-purpose tyres.

I'm actually considering taking my old Pulsar 150 on this trip instead. It's much better at off-roading than the AS200 - at least, for my skill levels

If u r thinking for dual purpose just go for ceat vertigo or ceat xoom xl

Thanks again! I agree about the CEAT Vertigo being a dual-purpose tyre, but I think the Zoom XL is road-oriented. It's claimed to be a high-speed tyre, with a speed rating of H (210 km/h).

The AS200's standard tyre sizes are (both tubeless):

100/80-17 (front)
130/70-17 (rear)

MRF MoGrip is available in:

100/90-17 tube-type (MoGrip Moto-D)
120/80-17 tubeless (MoGrip Meteor NV)

- The front has a higher profile than stock (will it foul with the mudguard?)
- The rear is slimmer than stock.

Ideally, I wanted to stick to the standard sizes. Does anyone know of dual-purpose tyres in the standard AS200 sizes?
Go for 120/80 meteor for rear. I just love that tire. I did my ladakh trip on the same. I am never going back on stock again. Due to wider rim on AS200, it looks more sexy.

Although I dont seem higher profile tire for front will foul with mudguard. I myself also contemplating to go for meteor 100/90 after my experience with 120/80.

But, be careful, the higher profile changes the diameter and will screw your speed and km calculation in the odo. If you can live with that then no issue.

One more thing, higher profile tire on rear will kill your torque slightly, but will also increase you top speed. Just be wise over this. After All, you dont want to degrade your acceleration. Right?

Thanks, vrnmhjn! A friend of mine is running the Meteor rear on his RTR 180, and he's also very happy with it. Is the Meteor available for the front as well? The MRF website only lists the MoGrip Moto-D for the front.

I'm OK with the speedo and odo readings changing. Small price to pay for better grip off-road

I'm also OK with a drop in acceleration, especially if it improves high-rpm refinement...

I am not sure about the grip because I haven't changed my front tire. The stock did pretty well I guess even here.

I just saw the MRF site and indeed the 100 / 90 Meteor size is mentioned there for rear. But if I want to change the stock, I will take my chance with that.

I'm a bit worried about using a rear tyre as the front, but let's see...

Fantastic picture!

Hello XBhpians!! My pulsar as 200 is going to complete 2500kms by this weekend.. I am thinking of changing my bike's engine oil from stock bajaj to motul fully synthetic 7100 ..my concerns are:
1..Will the synthetic oil harm the engine in any way because it has done only 2500kms?
2.. will my bajaj engine warranty of 30000kms will be void if I use any other oil other than bajaj oil? I am not satisfied with the quality of the stock oil..
Pls reply..

Changing oil outside the company will void ur warranty. If u want use bottled oil from bajaj its better then drum oil. If service center does not have bottled oil carry ur own and get it mentioned in ur service history.

Also to mention changing to full synthetic Oil is recommended after 10000kms

engine break in takes about at least 8000km , so if u use synthetic oil at 2500km your engine will not break in properly. u will fill engine harshness & hard gears forever.

Few days back, when I was riding through traffic bike stalled and after that when I started bike the projector is stopped working. Other electronics(high beam also) working fine. Only projector is the problem. Does Anybody knows the solution?? Or I have to replace the bulb?? If so, then what's the cost of the bulb??

I replaced the rear Europgrip with a CEAT Zoom XL (130/70-17). Thanks to Rushank for the suggestion

Unfortunately, I only noticed after buying the tyre that the speed rating is the same as the stock Eurogrip ('P' or 150 km/h). While that is already more than what the AS200 can achieve, I was initially interested in the Zoom XL because the next size, 140/70-17, is rated H (210 km/h). I was hoping the 'H' rating would imply a softer compound, which is what I was looking for.

Anyway, I chose the Zoom XL over the MRF Revz-S (R15 V2.0 rear tyre) because the tread covers the centre patch as well (should cope better with aquaplaning, etc). I'm currently scrubbing the new tyre in, and will give an update in a few weeks about how it holds up to the roads (or lack of them) in Sikkim.
vrnmhjn - I didn't get the MRF MoGrip 120/80-17 because I really didn't want to downsize. Thanks for the suggestion, anyway! I hope I didn't make a mistake with the Zoom XL

Got an oil change done before the trip, and the head of one of the screws holding the oil filter cover snapped off, leaving the body of the screw firmly inside. The mechanic fastened the cover with the remaining screw, and sealed it with engine block sealer. Hope it holds.

Each time something like this happens, I remind myself that... 23.5 PS, liquid cooling, monoshock, projector, disc brakes at both ends - all of this for 1.1 lakh. What was I expecting? Compromises will have to be made somewhere - itne paise mein itnaich milega.

Substandard quality control is no excuse really, not even for 40k scooter.
