  • Re: Pulsar AS 200 Owners Review and Experiences

    Hi Guys,

I'm consistently getting low fuel economy from my AS200. My bike returns only around 30 KMPL. I had proper run-in also, never rode above 4K rpm up until first service. There was one another issue around 2300 kms, I heard a clanking sound from engine. When I took it to Khivraj Bajaj, Marathalli, they said there is some issue with engine and they replaced some nuts and rocker arm from engine. The bike has run around 3000 Km till now. Before the first service I was getting around 35 KMPL. Any suggestions?

Firstly that's the worst service centre in Bangalore .
Please visit the banshankari auto service.they are very genuine .
Now coming back to fuel economy 30 is low and probably they fiddled with carburator settings.
Tell me one thing when you fill fuel(full tank, probably some 10 odd litres)how many kilometers your bike goes until it hits reserve?

          Hello friends
This is my first post. I buy my as200 on 1st August. After running 230 km I noticed that the bike is having some balance issue. It veer to left side when I left the handle while running. I give my bike SVC on 17 august, they replaced many parts on the front side but didnt solve the issue. My bike is in SVC for the past 20 days and now they are going to change the chassis.
Friends any of you have this issue. What is your opinion, should I go to consumer cort or wait until the bike is ready.

The same issue is mine.I believe AS has this problem.there arentoo many wires on the left side of fairing .but you don't need to give it to service or change the chassis.its a new bike,no point doing it.besides no one leaves hand and ride bike.when you are at even 5Kmph the bike doent steer left.its just the weight of the bike and that's it.
I would request you not to change the chassis and continue like this .however if it does solve the problem is well and good.
But because of this bike going on left I took test drive of 3 new AS and all seem to go on left.

You should check ur front tyre for this.. IMO problem is in ur bike's front tyre... Do not go for the chassis change this early. Because chassis of the bikes go through very hard quality check.. Very very less chance for a faulty chassis. And do not believe on bajaj mechanics, when they don't understand the problem they tell u to change the whole part..i think ur bike's front tyre alignment has some problem..... I hope ur problem will get solved..

I feel that you should not make such a huge deal of such small issues. Changing the chassis is just too much! What comes in stock is the best you can get, SVC mechs spoil it after that.
It's a lot like nuts and bolts - if the rider's nuts, the ride - bolts!

Got mine delivered yesterday evening, and i have clocked around 150kms. Coming from P220 my comparison of AS200 will be with my former bike.

                  The good :
                  - Very smooth/refined engine compared to 220, vibes are there but not so much that they would annoy you.
                  - Riding stance
                  - Headlights (High beam) lights up the world !
                  - Balance and handling, the bike indeed has an awesome balance of weight distribution, unlike 220 which has all its weight in the front.
                  - Very much flickable in traffic due to good balance - the weight or the fairing wont really bother you in stop and go traffic.
                  - Turning radius - its way better than my former bike 220 and no way its SUV'ish
                  - Brakes : OK this actually might be the best part of the bike, i feel this has one of the best brakes! I might be wrong or maybe my friend's R15 must be a lemon but AS200's brakes are just better.

                  The bad:
                  - The rear break lever sucks, its so high i cant really rest my foot on the lever and have to keep my right foot the same way as i would while shifting gear up.
                  - I got mine with Euroslip tyres, was fed up of waiting for MRFs and ended up with Euroslips, will change them once i am done with free services.
I heard from here and there that Bajaj might be providing MRF tyres in future, but the price of bike would be increased, although they have already hiked the price to 2000rs.
                  - Low beam : i feel 220's low beam was better
                  - Low end torque, not really a con but 220 has better torque. AS is not a bike which you can ride 30kmph at 5th gear like the 220.

Other tit-bits which can be rectified :
                  - The chain is very tight, due to which i feel vibes in the footpegs. Will fix it once i learn to do so, used to do it in my 220 but this bike has some lever.
                  - Low beam needs adjustment, the light spread is weird.
                  - Idle RPM shoots to 2.5k rpm. Will fix it, once i find the rpm screw.

Whom is this bike for :
220 riders will definitely love this bike - finally a bike which can replace the 220! Those looking for a decent tourer, those who own or used to own bajaj bikes.

Whom is this bike not for:
People coming from Honda/Yamaha, you might find disappointment here, especially the ones coming from CBR/R15 and you will end up giving bad reviews. Because the engine is not as refined as the Hondas/Yamahas but its indeed the best pulsar ever (except for the RS200, haven't ridden so no comments)

How to identify a faulty ball racer / steering (handle bar) bearing | Nex Gen Bikes

These could be one reason why the bike may steer to one direction. There were certain batches of NS which had the same. But if this is felt on new bike, then unless you feel that as a problem which affects your riding and comfort, nothing to bother. But if it sways more than normal, usual culprit could be these cone set or the ball bearings. And when you drop the bike or get hit by something, this can get damaged. As others said, this has nothing to do with chassis. Are the svc guys doing what should do?. Why don't you try other places rather than sticking to the same svc?.

Surprise, Im cursing my NS for short turn-radius
                    - Brakes : OK this actually might be the best part of the bike, i feel this has one of the best brakes! I might be wrong or maybe my friend's R15 must be a lemon but AS200's brakes are just better. You must know that NS was praised already long back for brakes having a good bite, AS is no wonder good. Use it wisely.

                    The bad:
                    - The rear break lever sucks, its so high i cant really rest my foot on the lever and have to keep my right foot the same way as i would while shifting gear upIt should become loose on operation, over time
                    - I got mine with Euroslip tyres, was fed up of waiting for MRFs and ended up with Euroslips, will change them once i am done with free services.

Will fix it once i learn to do so, used to do it in my 220 but this bike has some lever. This is also due to the fact the bike is new, the engine harshness will also make you feel it. Upon run-in you will feel better
                    - Low beam needs adjustment, the light spread is weird.
                    - Idle RPM shoots to 2.5k rpm. Will fix it, once i learn to open those side panels and find the rpm screw.Still shooting to 2.5K rpm is not normal. Have it checked soon. Also warm up the engine in the morning for 5-7 mins and then check the idling speed. Use to bike for 30+ mins and check the idle speed resting.

Whom is this bike for :
220 riders will definitely love this bike, ones looking for a decent tourer, the ones who own or used to own bajaj bikes.
Also for those who were from 100-150 cc category owners

Whom is this bike not for:
People coming from Honda/Yamaha, you might find disappointment here, especially the ones coming from CBR/R15 and you will end up giving bad reviews. R15\CBR250 has slightly better engine refinements than KTM and a lot than Bajaj. This holds true for NS/AS/RS
Eg, Test Drive a CBR250/R15 once after having ridden your pulsar all these days, you will feel what I felt
However if you have come from P220, I'd be a lot surprised. Not that this is a better bike than P220 in all terms, but still the performance leap will be marginal. You could have preferred a CBR250 instead (unless you run on budget).

Anyway, Congrats on your new bike, happy riding. Follow proper run-in.

                      Hey ppl...wat is up?

Since we have Adventure Sport in our bike's name, has anyone ventured offroads with this beauty?
I had a chance to... Boy was I pleasantly surprised!

Added weight adds to stability surely. The comfortable sitting position also helps a lot.
Foot pegs are strong and easy to stand upon. Since I had Euroslips, which are a harder compound as compared to MRFs, I had more faith that they wont puncture and leave me stranded! For once the Euroslips shined through!

My only niggle was the rubbery sound coming from the front suspension on high compression!
Felt like the rubber washers are rubbing against the forks

Good that you have attempted, glad if you can share pictures. But after completing such rough rides, I'd advice you to look at most of the bolts just to make sure they are not lose. Remember, this is basically NS with some addition and add-on but not an actual adventure bike like those Suzuki V-storm, etc. Have seen many NS-ians complained about lose bolts, sometimes falling off. Just make sure.

Also it doesnt sway much in normal riding ,only when i leave my hands off the handlebar.I once thought of changing the Conest but frankly speaking i didnt feel any issues at all hence thought not a good idea to open the fairing of a new bike.Besides you know how horrible the baja ASC are.I am sure they might fix the handle bar but might do trouble to some other part of my bike.
                          In short they are hopeless

Thanks for the heads-up.... My ride was on a shorter side, so things should be ok i guess. Have bought a complete set of Allen Keys to tighten fairing, Instrument cluster, etc on a periodic basis though. I highly recommend this!
