  • Need help in fixing issues with Pulsar AS 200

    Hi All,

I am facing few issues with my Pulsar AS 200. My rear disc is making noise even if I don't apply it. The noise is similar to the one when you apply drum break on a rainy day.

I am no bike expert so I went to the place where I got the vehicle. They asked me to leave the vehicle overnight and said the issue with the break is resolved, I took a test ride before signing off the service form the surrounding is so noisy that I could not hear any sound. After a day, I can hear sound.

I want to escalate this issue but not sure whom to get in touch with.

Dear readers, please help whom I need to get in touch with to resolve my issue.

    Thank you for you time.

First make sure the disc plate has any dirt or anything else sticking. You can do it by putting on center stand and rotate. Observe for the sound where it comes from. When there is mud\dirt deposits on disc plate, it will generate some weird sound.

Take it again to svc early morning (Dont leave your bike overnight) again. If it didn't help, switch another svc rather than escalating immediately. Escalation will work but it takes more of your precious time....and your bike..!!!

I completely understand your concern. Fought with this issue for a long long time. Most probably the rear disc is touching the brake pads. Get in touch with the SVC and NEVER ever leave your bike at the SVC overnight! Unless its a severe issue like an engine/chassis repair.

The pads needs to be glazed with sand paper to even them down. Also ask the SVC to oil the rear brake lever joint, maybe its too tight and depressed a little by default.

          Thank you for replying..

I asked SVC for 4 times. Every time they rub sand paper and return.

The SVC is in very crowded place it is very difficult to listen to the noise. Once they even changed the plates. Still the sound din't stop. I Guess there could be a flaw in the rear disc itself.

I put it in stand and rotated the wheel to know where exactly the sound is coming from. It is sure that the disc plates are touching. Which one is faulty it is hard to know.

          Thanks

AS200 won't be a troublesome as long as you don't thrash it and follow good run in procedure. Bajaj bikes will let you down if you don't maintain it well. AS200 is not forgivable of rider's mistake as compared to gixxer.

Also depends on what your need. More mileage and city riding then gixxer makes more sense. But will not be as powerful as AS200

                Buy AS200 for the rest.

Don't change the exhaust, if you don't want to get caught by cops, its illegal now.

This happened when i was taking the delivery of my bike, there was this guy who was taking the delivery of Discover 150, after looking at my bike he asks the SVC guy.

"Bhaiya yeh 200 Pulsar same discover jaisa hi hai na, sirf cc bada hai na"
SVC : nai sir usme bhp jyada hai, cooling hai
Random guy: par sirf 50cc bada hai na

It's a lot like nuts and bolts - if the rider's nuts, the ride - bolts!

Now coming back to fuel economy 30 is low and probably they fiddled with carburator settings.
Tell me one thing when you fill fuel(full tank, probably some 10 odd litres)how many kilometers your bike goes until it hits reserve?
Last time I filled 7.74 Litre and after around 239 Kms. It hit reserve again. Planning to do second service on Auto Service, Banashankari. I also suspect some carburetor settings. When bike is cold then idle is around 1100 RPM but after some running it hovers around 1.4-1.5K. Is this normal?

Yes it's normal.banshankari definitely best. They can configure to stock settings easily. And it is normal to go till 1.6 when engine gets a little hot

I faced the same issue. I know how irritating it can be and the toughest part of it is the SVC guys refuse to acknowledge it and the noise, environment makes the noises difficult to replicate!

U might have some issue with the rear disc or wheel alignment, which is causing the disc to rub with the brake pads.
If the issue is still not resolved after so many multiple complaints, launch a complain to Bajaj Customer care and demand them to change you rear disc and chk wheel alignment and if need be, your entire rear brake assembly, since all these parts are covered under warranty.

Guys, what are your engine oil drain intervals? Bajaj's faith of 5000 kms drain interval on the DTSi 10000 oil seems over ambitious to me.
Are you guys draining oil at 300~1000~2000 kms interval or just following the manual?

1500-2000 KMs on Bajaj oil if you drive like a Probiker. Maybe upto 5000 KMs if you drive like a discover 100, Need I say more

I would request you not to change the chassis and continue like this .however if it does solve the problem is well and good.
But because of this bike going on left I took test drive of 3 new AS and all seem to go on left.
Thank you friends for your opinion. The problem solved after changing the T-stem. Regional Service Manager from bajaj visited SVC. He checked the bike and replaced The T-stem. Now the bike is going straight even i left the handle bar free. I can feel a good difference in the handling now.
