  • Hope my bike becomes smooth
I feel the engine is rough n struggling as i accelerate..
Mileage too it is not consistent at all...

The paint n body quality is also cheap n poor when compared to the other bikes...

I wonder how Suzuki could offer such a thing to us...
I am not so sure about the new batch of bikes...
If anyone could update regarding this, at-least it would be of great help for the new buyers...

As u all Guys know, so long i had be very patient and having full of positive hopes about the bike...
But now, i am loosing confidence....
Even my dad's 2 year old shine runs better and trouble free..
Moreover shine is still shiny and looking better than my black n dull GS
    Sorry to mention it guys....
I am forced to believe that my decision was not so good

Else you can check out the Universal thread on OILS.

Also an update from my regarding the Test Ride of the new lot.
Had been to the SVC centre to take test ride of the new lot & I was impressed (AS ALWAYS) with the smoothness of the engine. The engine was much smoother than what we have/had. Also there is a change in the electrical side, the company has changed the battery to a sealed battery & reduced power to 7.5amps,but the GOOD NEWS is they have changed the regulator to a more powerful one to get a brighter headlamp & I could notice the change while I was riding it.
The quality has changed & the new lot had a good finish.

No other changes in terms of engine & other stuff.

      Hi vishal,
Every vehicle comes with sealed lead acid storage batteries now a days. If it had been the normal lead acid battery then you would need to refill the electrolyte atleast once in every month. You meant to say the inital GS150Rs comes with normal lead acid battery. Correct me if i am mistaken.

        Albert,
The first lot of the bikes had a 9amp Exide normal lead acid battery & its now that they have changed it to a 7.5amp sealed lead acid battery.

Now my odo reads ~5700... and I feel the difference.

Guys.. I think there is no need to change the engine oil to get more smoothness... As time passes by and probably when you cross 10K in the odo, things should be good.

BTW vishal.. I have no idea about what a regulator is ... Can you please upload some pics and explain. May be I'm so dumb not knowing this also; but still its never late to learn. I'll enquire the SC about it if they have received the new lot.
        Augustine,
Your engine will become smoother as you go up the odo & yes you are right, that there is no need to change the oil.

The regulator is located on the battery side.If you just bend down & send next to the battery panel, there is a component which looks like a heat sink, that is the regulator.

Anyway, I have disconnected the position bulbs and put Osram Silverstar 55/60W. Will see the difference today.
That is what was told to me by the SC guys that there is a new regulator & its for a brighter headlamp & I could very well notice the change in both the bikes, the new one & an old one which had come for service there. We just started both the bikes & put on the headlamps & there was difference.

It must be a coil upgrade as well, basically a regulator is not restricting the current output from the coil, its restricted when the DC conversion takes place It simply shorting the over voltage produced by the coil @ higher rpms. Here the HL is AC so there will not be any restrction, You can swap the RR for a test and convince before buying a new one.

                    well, its not that bad.
even at 5k rpm i feel there is enough power to overtake other vehicles on the road. no regrets in the power or acceleration for me.

even mileage is pretty good. 50-55.
(strangely the 55 was when i touch 70-80km/h a lot and 50 was when i was riding 30-50km/h).
so nowadays i accelerate to 50 as fast as possible.

for a smooth bike, the sound is bad.
but u can consider it as a cross between unicorn and karizma
vibe free like uni and sound like karizma.

no comments on the quality of parts from me
i'm just happy suzuki replaces parts without much fuss.

only complaint i have is that annoying squeak sound from the disc brakes. it didnt get solved during servicing also.

Also, i noticed that the engine oil has become blackish in my bike.(looking though the window) and it used to be red when they had filled it.
i've used the oil for 1200km and level seems to be full(checked in the morning). should i change the oil or is the black colour normal ??

                        Hmmmmm!

But i really don't want to blame the service people especially Mr. Kalyan and Vinod Natrajan.....

They r already facing a lot of headache now....

The main suzuki people didn't bother to do a quality check, and its where the main problem started.....

I just wish that my bike to be replaced with a problem free one; ie without any rust, glossy n good paint work and of-course good mileage n low engine noise...

as u said quality is outright bad...

i gave my bike for 3rd service day before yesterday to ABT suzuki... the response was very good actually...

a new person Mr. Satish has taken over as the head of service in ABT..when i took back to service station yesterday for some minor corrections after the servicfe, he personally took care of the bike....

lol!! when i complained about the mileage, he inspected the carburettor and found that air screw is missing..but since the spring of the airscrew was not available, he could not make the necessary corrections...anyhow has asked me to come back in a day or two , so that he couldmake the necessary adjustments in the carburettor ....

he took personal care about the bike..

as you pointed out, the service people are extremely cordial .. but what can they do if the production quality itself is pathetic!!!!..

God alone can save GS 150 and Suzuki....

                              Dhiwakarji,
Your bike will not run if there is no air screw. To enable the Carb to breathe properly,it is mandatory.Maybe something else might be the problem, like the air screw not functioning upto the mark because of the spring. The next time when they are fixing this issue, stay with them & see what they are doing.

                              • Yep, even I feel the urge to butt in I am sorry to see some GS are not performing right, but there are many others like me silently enjoying riding! My GS hasn't given me one bit of problem - touchwood. Not to say the problems reported are imaginary or anything, but its certainly not the case that all the GSs are suddenly falling apart, and all GS owners are meeting in a bar drinking and singing sad songs! Relax. The bike is in warranty. If it is too much hessle, try to escalate the matter to Suzuki like Vishal and get money back.
