However,This is bad for the transmission and should only be used as an emergency method to get home if the clutch cable snaps, and is definitely NOT recommended......
Oh really!! thanks for the heads up
But somewhere in this thread I remember Mach was saying this doesn't affect at all and is perfectly safe to follow this technique only if one knows how to do it.

BTW when your clutch cable was snapped how you managed to put the first gear ???? Just wondering..

Correct rpm and proper blipping of accelerator is the decisive factors. If done properly, it is safer than shifting in the normal manner.
Exactly what I wanted to hear

any ways i have to tell you that acid spillage from my battery costed me to replace the whole main red wire which costed Rs. 97 it was not included in warranty repairs if my battery again goes insane then , the manager said he will gimme a letter for replacement from authorized dealer. !
Consumables charges were included for 1st time of rs 35.

also how can we know if they have replaced the oil filter or not? because they have charged me for that ,

bike still got small problems(chain noise, front disc break noise) ! but forget it now just want to ride also exams round the corner so will see ya after some days .
& all u Mumbai guys, enjoy the trip have fun, ride safe all my wishes, i wish to be in some other time ! tc

@MAzaid : since how long have you been using this Pulsar spark plug cap/adapter any notifications on that cause i am planning to change to that one as improper burning of fuel = less power = fuel wastage = less mileage . yeah now you 'll say "MILEAGE" !

Why is the acid spilling from the battery? Get it checked and replaced. There is no way to know whether the oil filter is replaced or not but it is not compalsory at the time of 3rd servicing. It can be used for 8000 kms.

It is easy if the wheel is rotating. You can shift to 1st gear if the rear wheel is rotating in low rpm/free to rotate/not touching the ground/not being braked.

I know what it is as I too have faced it during my first biking days. Time and experience taught me to ride freely with a free mind. It taught me that unnecessary precautions are absolutely unnecessary.

                Here are the snaps.,

On vulcan's bike i felt it's the same case. SC mech has overfilled the battery and now that breather valve is letting out extra solution in liquid form than just vapors. It may be loose cap/s also, but when I checked they were properly fitted.

Anyways, they charged him Rs. 97 for Positive terminal Wire with connector pins at both end, which, in my opinion is looting the customer

This kind of reckless mechanics are seen everywhere.

True. If it is idling rpm, reduce it to a maximum of 1500 when the engine is warm.

                      • battery ::: even if it is maintenance free we have to do some minimum maintenance

Am not a pro or specialist if it comes to bike battery

but i believe even if it is maintenance free we have to do some minimum maintenance

it would be good for all if some one enlighten us on this topic.

during my last service i was been with my mechanic and their was no sight of battery spillage or rust.

last month went out of town for 15 days which made my GS left unused for 15 days recent service on last week i found the same white powder like traces on my bike on the metal thing that covers or locks the battery

but it is not rust after wiping the white powder stuffs it was back to normal look but the paint on it is gone.

                        • SVC mechanics have said to me that nothing is required on the poles of the battery to avoid rust.... but i have seen that people apply petroleum jelly to avoid rust on the terminals of the battery.... kindly let me know if this is true... n yes even i used to see white powdery deposit on the terminals of my fiero battery... dunno what it is but would like to know....

It's the idle rpm., when I took my bike initially from Chennai, it was around 2k rpm., later on after crossing some 90kms the idle rpm increased to 3k ., After reaching Pondicherry it went to 3.5k .,So I adjusted it to 1.5k as idle rpm..
Regarding the keychain., ya i too like it.. The showroom people suppose to give that kind of key chain to us., But they are giving the odd looking leather keychain,,
But I asked them to give this one also.. And they did..
