  • Hello.. Finished running 130kms in this bike and feels pretty good. However, some setbacks I found.
    1. Headlight is useless. Totally useless !! It doesn't actually matter if I keep it ON, I could not make out any big difference. Anyone found an effective alternative for the bulb ??

    2. Its raining a lot here. One day suddenly when I switch ON the bike with no indicators switched to either sides, I get a long beep sound. I had to go to Suzuki showroom to collect my RC and told them about this. They told its common during the rainy season and we must blow air near indicator switches. He tried with his mouth, it didn't work then he used a vacuum and after long time, it stopped. He told me to put a plastic around the switches !!

    3. To measure the mileage I tried reserve to reserve but something's not right.

Initially I had some 1 ltr petrol (its not exact, i know) when I took from showroom, then on my way back at about 20kms later I put 3 ltrs, then I shifted to main, the bike stopped traveling about 500mtrs. I had to shift to reserve again. How so fast?? Anyway......

After about 80kms, I put 2 ltrs again and shifted to main, the bike ran for about 95kms and started giving jerks and I could not accelerate, I thought fuel in main is empty and shifted to reserve. At about 120kms I tried shifting to main again and I could run for about 2 kms before bike gave jerks and stopped. How could it run for 2 kms when I did not put any fuel ?

I know, now I m supposed to reset trip meter and go to nearest bunk and refill and wait till it gives jerks again and stops in main.

But whats worrying me is how come fuel is being used up so fast !!?? IF this goes on I wont even get 45kmpl I checked, there is no leak and I don't park in sunlight. My riding conditions are sane. I don't accelerate too fast and I drive around 45kmph and below 4k rpm. Whats up ?? Please assist

anyways .... as per the things i think i know.... you should not do this..
the bikes electricals MAY not be handle things

i was thinking on this lines .... comparing it with the zma - r
but due to the fights or inconvenience caused due to me over here i stopped it...

you can compare both bikes electricals ... and if you find it to be same... go for it .....
i think mr ssivakumar knows something on this .... he might be of help as well

MY final verdict... no it cannot be done without harming the electricals and reflectors

may sound naive but you decided for this particular tyres because someone recommended or u did some research.... any info would be helpful
The Zma-r has DC setup & hence it is easy to install a high wattage bulb & installing a 90/100w with a relay is no big deal.GS150R does not have a DC setup except for the tail light which is LED & hence DC.

I asked this question because now a days what pulsar owners do is install an avenger's coil & plate & install a 55/60w bulb which really works & throws bright light.

So if there could be any way that we can install this 55/60w bulb.

As far as the tyre is concerned,I rode my friends pulsar which has this same tyre & the road grip was great.Researched a bit about the tyre on other forums & the official site of Michellin 2 wheeler tyres & got the info that the tyre is built of soft compound material that is the reason it has a good road grip but not a longer life .Also I have never tried any international brand of tyres for 2 wheelers & was a little bit hesitating to install it but then after the installation,I am one happy customer.

You could have gone to Laxmi Suzuki which is in Andheri(W).
I guess maybe you must be frequenting malad and hence Malad Suzuki , right?
BTW , I saw this bike for the first time at GrantRoad itself. I was shopping for some computer parts at lamington and thought of having that tarbuz ka juice near grant road station. Just at that corner is a bike's dealer (dont know exactly the shop name, but there are a lot of tyre shops in that line), there stood this beauty. Thats where I started fancying this bike.
You could've bought it form there! but when I search for a dealer on the suzuki india site there's only MaladSuzuki and LaxmiSuzuki(Andheri). I think It'll be good to buy from one of these only.
I will be going to LaxmiSuzuki soon for a test ride
      Avithe,
I was planning to buy the bike from Andheri but when I enquired the price they quoted me Rs.70,000/- which was far moe than the price mentioned on the site whereas Malad Suzuki quoted the same price & hence got it from there.I live in Grant Road & work in Andheri hence its quite easy to reach Malad. Also if I have the right information Laxmi Suzuki Andheri has been shut down (I AM NOT SURE) just heard from someone.Trust me you would not buy a vehicle from a showroom who charges extra than the company quoted price, just imagine the type of service they will provide after you buy the vehicle. It gives me nightmares.

The motorcycle dealer you are talking about is Alibhai Premji. He is a well known motorcycle showroom in town.He also sells good helmets.Just next to him is Metro tyres where you get all imported as well as Indian tyres.

Go buddy & get a test ride.ALL THE BEST.

that avenger thing is very much obvious ...... i told this much earlier
you can go for coil rewinding and then everything will be fine
you can even got 90/100W forget 55/60...
but additional things you may need is a new rectifier circuit and a new battery........ costs will easily go up
and i think it will definitely void your warranty if the guys come to know

generally good tyres dont have life.... but the experience you get is awesome and the biggest advantage being ur safety......

could you please post the link to that michelin website
Hope is a good thing ,
may be the best of things and

Yes i know the warranty will get void if try any of the above steps hence I am not touching anything right now. Will surely try it once I am out of warranty period.

Here is the website for the 2 wheelers tyres
          Michelin Motorcycle and Bicycle Tires

          Outwardly here's one more query

Is it fine if I run some aux lights thru the battery owing to the fact that it will drain the batteries. Will i still have to go for rewinding of coil & changes in rectifier circuits??

Hi did u read road test for bikes in magazines like autocar, overdrive etc...
They give as like that, speed on odo(eg 70kmph) and true speed(62kmph) ,almost for all bikes, whether digital or analog....Bcos they carry some expensive instrument to connect with bike or car and measure the true speed and write in the magazine..That means not odometer is fault..hope u understand

I agree the head light bulb not satisfy you , but when we compare like yamahaRX100 6volt,Or old CBZ 12volt,it is better than that... I feel low beam is not good, but high beam is fair....

The bike will run for 2km from the petrol inside carbartor which is gone when u turn to reserve, thats why when checking mileage using bottle(100ml of petrol) the mechanic will dry the petrol inside carbarator by idiling the bike then only the connect the 100ml bottle to carb
I know, now I m supposed to reset trip meter and go to nearest bunk and refill and wait till it gives jerks again and stops in main.

But whats worrying me is how come fuel is being used up so fast !!?? IF this goes on I wont even get 45kmpl I checked, there is no leak and I don't park in sunlight. fill it 5 litre, after reserve then fill again 2 or more litre u get ur atmost mileage, I hope u did'nt do correctly in initial,And i m sure GS150R have more reserve not 3.1, They put * in that 3.1*
Did u notice in the road if some one petrol dried , they keep the bike in lying postion( i mean keep in floor for some time) the waste petrol(50ml to 100ml) will come to carburator, and takes the bike for another 2 to 4km, once i tried in yamaharx100, which is stoped i the middle in reserve after running 50 or more i don't remember... i lay down the bike for 2 minute and start the bike using choke... it started and run another 2km...

Yes it serves the purpose of ignition key. You can ON(The orange LCD light comes on) and OFF(The orange LCD light goes off) using the given remote itself but the key position remains same in off position. Yes you are right the handle is unlocked. If someone puts the key when it is been locked by its remote, it starts giving siren sound and it stops only when the key is been taken back. It's completely keyless. The remote comes as a keychain. I carry the key all the time with my remote. But it's completely keyless. You can check the pics which i've posted earlier for more information. Check the pics especially the pics of digital console. You can find it runs without the key.

Yes you can start and stop the engine using that remote itself without the key. It works for more than 100 feets. I'm not too sure how many distance it works. But i am sure it works 100 feet. I checked it in 100 feet road in coimbatore. But make sure your vehicle is parked in neutral before using that. The red color switch should be on. Petrol knob should be on or in res. Make sure everything is correct, then start the bike using the remote. As i told earlier, you can control the remote start and stop using an additional ON/OFF switch. I've fixed it under my seat. If you want i can post few pics on that.

In my home, in nights, instead of using remote lock, i lock my handle for safety and to preserve my battery. In nights the remote lock will be off. So it wont use the battery all the night. Not only in nights, i wont use it whenever i parked my bike for more than 3-4 hours. Although it's not that important, i prefer doing that to save more battery. Eg: In movie theaters i wont use it because i surely know it will take 3 hours for me to come back. And not only that whenever others comes to park their bike, if they touch it, it gives sound unnecessarily. Complete waste of battery. So in that case i prefer side locks the best.

If you want you can do both locks(Side lock as well as remote locks). And in the morning, i put the key and unlock the handle. The first 2/3 starts will be kick start. Then i'll start using my remote. Hope these information useful . Anymore queries regarding this?

Not only in this bike bro. All the bike has some drawbacks. There are advantages as well as disadvantages in all bikes. Suzuki GS150R is the best bike in 150cc segment currently available in market.

Check the net for advantage and disadvantage of all bikes including GS. You can easily find out the flaws available in GS is less than other bikes flaw. GS comes next to unicorn. And we all know unicorn is a 4th generation bike. GS is the 1st generation bike. Can't compare them. An appache RTR160 FI young owner came to me and enquired about my bike. He says his bike is one month new and he is having a list of complaints about it. He is only 17 and complaints that he is having unsolvable back pain. Finally he says he like the design of GS and he is planning to change his bike as soon as possible.

I've done 950 kms buddy. Going to give my bike for first service tomorrow. I am completely satisfied with GS150R. Don't think i am convincing you to buy GS. I am not. You said you are confused.

Don't be confused. List out all bikes features. Have a test drive of all the bike you like most and satisfies your need. Make sure to drive the bike for more than 5-10 mins. Then you can easily come to a conclusion.

Hey, sorry for the long delay. I went for a Ride yesterday night and got a chance to test the Philips Bulb. From what i saw, the Philips Bulb has a marginal improvement over the stock Halonix Bulb but not any major substantial improvement. Afterall, both are 35W.
The Light and Throw are good. Again, i did not get a chance to test on dark roads without any light, to see the Real Effect.

At this point, I can't really tell if it is worth changing over to a Philips Bulb.

                    • Guys a question for all,
                      1. when you purchased your bikes, how much was the insurance you paid ?
                      2. If you had received your insurance papers, how much was the bike valued at a) ex-showroom price or b) ex-showroom price - 5% depreciation ?

Here are the figures which i got for my bike from the swapna suzuki, chennai.
                      Ex-showroom price = Rs.61,058
                      Road Tax & Registration = Rs. 5,482
                      Insurance = Rs. 1,260
                      -------------------
                      Total = Rs.67,800
                      -------------------

On receiving the insurance papers i found the bike to be valued for only Rs.58,006 and not at the ex-showroom price of Rs.61,058. The insurance agent says that even a brand new vehicle taken delivery from showroom would attract 5% depreciation. Anybody aware of such a rule or am i being taken for a ride by the agent ?

Thanks in advance for all your help.

                      • regarding speed query

                        GS can touch 100kmph @ 7.5k rpm

proof: engine speed(rpm) /(primary reduction ratio x gear ratio x secondary reduction ratio) = wheel speed(rpm)

                        wheel speed x wheel dia(m) x pi(3.14)/60 = bike speed in m/s

bike speed (m/s) x 18/5 = bike speed in kmph

i didnt consider clutch slip as a factor as it involves only in rapid acceleration.

                        let us take 7500rpm

                        wheel speed = 7500/(3.476 x 0.833 x 2.929)
                        = 884.336rpm

                        bike speed(m/s) = 884.336 x 0.62(measured by a foot scale) x 3.14/60
                        = 28.694m/s

                        bike speed(km/hr) = 28.694 x 18/5
                        = 103.29km/hr

in this calculation i have reduced 2cm(original 64cm) in wheel dia due to inflation by bike's weight.

Hey it's ex-showroom price - 5% depriciation. Even i asked the same question what you asked and got the same answer what you got from the agent. I don't know exactly what the rule is. But my bike is valued for Rs.58020 only. The total insurance amount paid is Rs. 1351. This includes gross premium (Rs. 1225) + service tax (Rs. 126) + stamp duty (Rs. 5) = total (Rs. 1351). Hope this information is useful.
