DONE R & D mileage on diffrent modes
God mode gives worst mileage but best pickup and performance
On God mode got 45 kmpl
On Eco mode got 48 to 61 Kmpl
On Pwr mode got 50 to 55 kmpl
My cold idle is at 800 or 900 rpm
Warm idle is at 1100 rpmSarcasm is my automatic response to stupidity

Do you get reserve properly, or do you get that false reserve problem too ??Originally posted by MSN1 View PostGod mode gives worst mileage but best pickup and performance

For me, after the bike starts jerking, if i put the bike to reserve, and switch back to main, i can go around 7-8kms first time, and then again its gives jerks, and then i do the same thing, 2nd time it goes around 4-5kms, and goes on like this, so i dont know which one to take as the actual reserve reading for calculating mileage.

(the carb holds 27ml of fuel, so for accurate reading, when we switch to reserve, ride for a km, and switch back to main, its supposed to go only 1-1.5kms before stopping)
And your idle rpm never goes above 1100 rpm even when the engine is hot ? does this setting give any problems when engine is cold ? for me idle rpm varies between 900-1000 when cold to 1400-1500 when heated. If i try reducing my idle to 1100 when hot, would it increase mileage ?? (i guess i'm getting 48km/l now, calculated one month back with can, recently i got 55 once, but next time i got 40, so i guess it was just some reserve reading problem
)

I used to check for false reserve every time it won't go more than 5 kms. I consider that 5 kms comes from the petrol in pipe, carb and other componunts other than tank, hence ignored it.
Earlier before last service I got around 20 kms from false reserve
My idle was set by SVC I don't think that contributes to mileage.Sarcasm is my automatic response to stupidity

@msn is the god mode really something we should look for if wee need performance?????
i mean if we r into drag racing stuff then which mode behaves the best for it?????
@all
today i did some S*** and the wires got grounded accidently and the fuse was blown...so opened my bike and to my surprise there are actually mount points on both the sides for a fairing to be hold.......

Performance in god mode is better than power and eco modes.Originally posted by Maestro View Post@msn is the god mode really something we should look for if wee need performance?????

I am 0 in Drag racing, think mach50 can answer that one
Guru post the snaps of those mount points for farring.Sarcasm is my automatic response to stupidity

Changed to halonix UB
hi all...
Today evening, i have replaced my stock bulb with halonix ultrablue(which already some GSr owners already using). The auto electrician charged 120 rs. here in mangalore. I have to check how better is this UB bulb compared to stock one. I asked the electrician the possibility of connecting pilot lamps with DC. he told a separate switch might be needed. Will try this after some time.sigpic

What you showed in the picture was true checked and found those hole provisions in my bike also.
So what are all the flarings fit in to the provided option ?
@ venuvinod,
Instead of adding one more switch and playing with wiring, just save money and go for full DC and if required its easy to switch to 35 W HID.Sarcasm is my automatic response to stupidity

@msn
(MY thinking)
these are provided so that if in future suzuki puts a fairing on its model like zmr is having now.......then you can put it onto your bike without any hassles.........or you can also get some custom fairing designed to fit into those and not weld anything to tank or somewhere esle........

On performance machines,we have all heard of high lift camshafts,well these camshafts controls the tappet activity and are responsible how the valve timings are set in action.High lift camshafts allows more play to the tappet for excessive and fast valve activity.
It is a brief mechanism,hope I was able to make it clear.
Camshafts are present on all vehicles.It is denoted by OHC,Over Head Camshaft........vehicles are either SOHC or DOHC.Single Overhead Camshaft or Double Overhead Camshaft.DOHC vehicles are generally more powerful than similar capacity SOHC vehicles,it is because of multi-valve function and also faster activity of the valves.
Our GS150R is a SOHC vehicle with normal camshaft.So it neither has advantage of DOHC or High Lift Camshafts for fast valve timings.But it has other tech going into it like Xtp,short gear ratios,long stroke engine...to make it a very torquey bike.
Now what happens is,in GSRs which are revved excessively in instances of traffic light GPs or in case of constant high speed touring,the tappet needs to be loosened for aiding excessive valve activity,otherwise a tight tappet on such a vehicle would wear away quicker and thus the tappet life would decrease.While GSRs used for basic commuter purposes would not be revved very hard or excessively as a result of which,it wont harm the tappet if it is kept tight....but if the tappet is loosened on a slowly ridden vehicle,valve timings wont be proper and the vehicle would suffer a loss of Fuel Efficiency and power in low rev ranges.
Hence concluding all in basic terms:
1.Low Speed=lower revved vehicle=lower valve activity=Tight Tappet (adjusted)
2.High Speed=higher revved vehicle=higher valve activity=Loose Tappet(adjusted)
Hope this helps.Originally posted by abhijeet080808 View PostThis is plain incorrect. A slightly loose tappet vehicle would infact perform a bit better a low rev and would feel sluggish at higher revs. A vehicle with too tight tappets would be a disaster waiting to happen.
Best and the only way to adjust tappets is to proper specifications or very slightly loose.@MACHOriginally posted by gixxer_junkie_m View Post+1
The loose tappet will increase the bottom-end and top-end will go down and vice-versa,too loose a tappet will crack the rocker arm because of " lash ".Were as a too tight a tappet clearance will burn the valve.
Thank you MACH buddy, I know CAM n related things..but yess you answered from basics.
..I agree with you GS's Under square engine is really well iin torque char.
Yes i always use bike on Highways/ring roads/SIGNAL gp's ....n i think he[SVC engineer] have set it accordingly, tappets are a bit loose
@abhi
That is was i got, SVC itself set loose tappet, n told me

n in GOD mode i have never seen meleage below 50 unless i full throttle for a while....I achieve around 55-64kmpl.

Loose tappet means more gap between the tappet and the valve,which means the bike will have more acceleration ,but will loose power in the higher revs.If tappet is very loose then it will cause the rocker arm to crack because of the "lashing " .If the tappet clearance is less,then there will be less acceleration in the initial revs ,but it will have more power at higher revs.If the clearance is too less ,then valve will heat up and it will be burnt.Originally posted by *MIHIR* View Post

New Tyres
Hi all,
I am looking to change tyres on my 15k run GSR. Recently have had a couple of low speed crashes on gravel because of which have lost confidence in the stock zappers.
Which one would you recommend for grip on gravel/muddy roads.
And also, I want to stagger the purchases. So which one should I buy first - front or rear.. I predominantly use the front brakes only. Rear only 10%.
For now I have zeroed in on Michelin M62 for the front and Sirac Street for the rear. Can anyone share their experiences with these tyres with me..
Thanks & Regards
Srinivas
