Where would you mount frame sliders on our bike? I would still prefer a bigger crashguard, probably one that shares or lessens the weight on the handle, in case of a fall.

On the subject of the vehicle's weight......When I had my crash, I lifted my bike off the ground without much effort (though its not as much of a he-man task as lifting a bullet after a crash), because handling it for the past one year has given me muscles I never had before.

So, final verdict: weight can be a good thing.

Congratulations on your new GS and photos and ride impressions are due from your side

Does anyone know the grade and quantity of engine oil used in Suzuki Access?
Because in my service invoice, they have mentioned the engine oil as "Access Engine oil"(229 rs).
Although the oil level is exactly at "full" mark, it used be above that mark in previous services. So was wondering whether right grade and amount of oil has been poured into my GS?

The svc people are so lazy and irresponsible that they had mentioned my ride as "Access" in the service invoice but I got that changed to GS lateron.
So my advice would be to avoid that Saptagiri sub branch SVC in magadi road if you have any other alternatives..

      • ashoka_bnglr: I usually stay at the SC and watch the service being done. So, theres less chance of them screwing things up.

If I remember correctly, the bill for the engine oil that they put for the GS is Rs. 265. But Im not sure if thats right, because I always bring my own engine oil and never get billed for it.

        • Done servicing

Yesterday got my bike from service from local mechanic.

Checked adjusted and lubricated the chain,

          Air filter cleaned

          Carburator cleaned and idle adjusted.

          Petrol tank inside cleaning done.

No oil change as oil and filter are changed just 600 kms ago.

          General service

All togather it costs me 580 bucks

Bike is smooth and and going good.

Spark plug is good so not changed.

Even I have that confusion. But I don't have previous service receipts to cross check.

Also might be OT but when you leave bike at SVC(usually before 10 am), the work will start on our bike only after couple of hours right? So will the svc inform you about that or you will stay there only? you visit K.H road show room right?

            Comment

            • @ashoka: I go to saptagiri suzuki, main branch on Rajkumar road.

The work need not necessarily start after 2 hours only. Depending on what time you bring the bike in, its given a number. The time at which they start service depends on how many number of vehicles there are before yours.

What I do is, I take it in early, get some number assigned and go request the service manager to get work on my bike started immediately telling that I will be staying for the service duration. Depending on how early I go, they might start work on my bike immediately or I have wait for an hour or so. Servicing takes about 1-2 hours depending on what all youre having done. So, in the end, I end up spending a good 3-4 hours, sometimes 6 hours, at the service center, getting it all finished.

Outcome is: You get to know whats being done on the bike and how its being done and can even direct them to do things a certain way. Moreover, you could also take the chance to get to know the staff better.

I think 10W30 oil is used in Access 125. It is thinner than the xxW40 oil we use in our bike. If you are sure that the oil filled is 10W30, change it immediately.

Changing the oil is an easy job. Then, why cannot change it yourself?

Yes its an easy job and I will be doing it by myself from hereon but I am not yet sure whether they have filled the wrong oil yet. Will confirm with the SVC and then will take a call.
If its 10W30 then i will escalate the issue to the main branch.

                  • not just main branch, take it up with suzuki as well. This is terribly negligent.
But on the offside, it might simply be a billing error. Ive seen a couple of those happen at my SC.

249 cc Ninja is 175 Kgs, 249.6 cc CBR250R is 167 Kgs and 223 cc ZMR is 159 Kgs, but none is complaining about the weight.

Thanks, i know about kreb weight. But how come there is lighter weight feeling of the new gs when riden after our old one.May be the fresher look and new ride lightens my soul.

Of course 250cc bikers will not complain,as most own it out of compassion and to feel that extra kick and also the invested money(we too own our 150cc bike with that passion, but ther is a element of commuterism in it and also light on pocket.)

No need to go for mopeds..we have some 150cc bikes with less kreb weight...like disco 150,szx,dazzler,yzf r15 based on ur range and taste and physical status(if you are not die hard fan of suzuki and if weight does bother you)

how are leds working on gs any snaps and is it a direct fit ir need to modify?

Buddy we all know that bigger bikes are heavier, but they also have more power. A 250cc 25 bhp CBR can easily pull 167 kg weight, and you wont even feel it. But a 13.5 bhp 150cc bike will be lethargic with 149 kg weight.

It is not just about weight; it is about power-to-weight ratio.

The toyota etios 1500c weighs around 900 to 930 kg, depending on model. To counter this, now Tata is working on a new model manza and vista, and one of their stated objectives is to reduce the weight by 40 kg.

If Tata can do it. Why cant suzuki?

Anyway, the weight of gs150r is in the same range as Pulsar, Hunk, CBZ, and Unicorn, and all these are 7 to 8-year old bikes, but gs150r is 2 years old, so suzuki could have been ahead of the competition in terms of power-to-weight ratio.

And what was the purpose of a new model? just cosmetic changes? After all the hype that white gs150r created, the new tech specs are a bit of a disappointment.

                          • engine sound

Does the engine sound(not exhaust sound) of all your GS change when the engine is hot(4 to 5 km).

my engines sound changes with a clicking sound above 3000 rpm and humming sound like an old Ashok Leyland bus engine.

its valve clearance was adjusted twice, recently when the engine is hot too to counter expansion but still its there.
At the end svc mechs told me that its normal.

                            • I checked the new gs in the showroom
                              • There was no change in the design of tank cap
                              • even the rectifier unit was the same.
black bike with red stickering looks really hot
