  • Re: Benelli TNT 300 Ownership Experience

Hey Guys, So I've completed ~15K kms on my 300 and the bike chain has completely worn out.

I urgently need to replace the bike's chain. The worst thing, none of the 3 SVCs in Mumbai have a spare chain-sprocket kit.

    Kindly suggest any possible alternatives.

Can anyone suggest how to maintain the chain & sprocket? I have got wurth chain spray. Yet to receive wurth chain cleaner. After 1600kms i need to lubricate the chain immediately

Our fellow members had already discussed about it a few pages back. Refer to the link below for your query.

I got it from a local mechanic, who bought the wurth dry chain lube from the chennai dealer. He has ordered it for my use only. Its not available in my city(Trichy), or couldnt find it online. Its available with any wurth dealer. Please look for the dealer in your city and ask for the product.

The word around Bangalore SVC is that it is possible but the cost wouldn't justify the upgrade. You would need to replace the ECU, wiring harness and the full ABS set up along with it.

Thanks for the update Binil. The idea is to check if ABS is even an option.
For me riding a bike is about confidence and ABS is definitely a confidence inspiring feature. Don't get me wrong. I am very happy with the braking on the bike and the bike stops on a dime if you brake progressively and the tires literally never lose grip....

Good brakes are only as good as good tyres. I have ridden the MRF version of our bike when they launched. It's scary, slides at the drop of a hat.

I am new to TNT 300 (purchased last week). Have few questions -

                        1. Break pedal position is very uncomfortable. Did any one do any thing about it? Any suggestion will help.
                        2. I came back home after about 20 KM of drive and stopped the engine by the kill switch (ignition still ON). I heard radiator motor/fan making too much of sound (like we get the sound for a car). I thought the sound is on higher side (sound was heard while riding also). Is it normal?
                        3. Gear shift is too hard. Will it become OK after changing the oil?

A1: You can have this adjusted. However, your foot will always be on the lever, giving you a feeling that you might be applying rear brake all the time. But it actually comes into effect after pushing the lever down after a certain threshold.

A2: Normal. What I always do is, if radiator fan is on, I will wait for that to turn off which happens once the engine temperature drops to 89 degrees. Once the fan is off, kill the engine switch. Fan noise is absolutely normal. For my motorcycle, it kicks in at 92 degrees, temperature rises to 93, then stops dropping and finally fan turns off at 89 degrees.

A3: One of the chinks. It will smooth out gradually. But don't expect it to be smooth like Japanese motorcycles.

Thank you very much for the reply. I will get it adjusted by going to the service station in next 1 to 2 days. I am not expecting super smooth gear shift but as of today it is very hard.
