Givi Rear Rack and Monokey Trekker box with Universal Adapter Plate installed.
My box came in this weekend and I decided to install the rear rack. Installation of the rack took me 55 minutes with all the necessary hand tools. It fits pretty well. I did have to play with it a little to get some of the holes to line up, but it didn't require any surgery.
I spent another 30 minutes installing the universal monokey plate. I was a bit crazy about making sure it was on straight, so that took some extra time.
After the install I took it on a test ride over some pretty rough roads to see how it held up. It's solid. I'm happy with it for sure. The box is heavy duty. This is the first hard case that I've owned, I've traveled the soft luggage in the past, so this thing was a little surprising. The build quality is very good and I'm confident that it will hold up for some time yet.
I also confirmed that the pannier racks DO work with this Trekker box despite what the vendors say. Their claim is that only the E22N boxes fit these racks, which is hogwash. I held off on ordering more Trekker boxes for the sides until I confirmed this. Now that I know, I'm still on the fence about getting more Trekker boxes. They're not cheap and would only be used on trips, which I won't be doing until my license plate comes at the end of the year (supposedly). Also, I do a lot of filtering here in the city, so they wouldn't be used during the week. I may go with the cheaper E22N boxes (I can get the pair of E22N boxes for $100 less than one Trekker box) and use the Trekker as my top box for now. We shall see.
Yes, I know my bike is dirty...too dirty.
