I'm one of those guys whose following this thread since the beginning and took test ride of the bike and made my mind to buy. Everything is perfect about this bike w.r.t. to power delivery, riding position, pillion seat, muscular look, parallel twin engine, the roar and the madness.
However, something is making me delay my purchase decision. It is truly said that it is easy to own a bike, but difficult to maintain. And that is where I take a step back. I felt that the frequency of service intervals are too close, only one free service, labor costs are pretty steep, and despite being fully synthetic oil, there is a requirement to change after 4K kms. So, on an average I would need to shell out 5-6K every 4 months at the service centre. I inquired about the costs of few common wear and tear parts and they were quite costly. Eg: Sprockets (No chain included) were for 20K.

I'm not sure that if I compare with Kawasaki 300 or Yamaha R3 for that matter, will the servicing and spare parts would cost the same. I'll be glad if someone did the research on this and can share the same
      its all about CC...

HI Maintenance is misunderstood, The service interval you are talking about is a checkup and service for your chain and Air filter cleaning, it is not necessary to change the Oil. My Bike is Run 2200 Kms got my second service done today Bike is much smother now.
Yes Labor costs are Pretty Steep and Mumbai Riders have decided to take it up with the company.
I did not change my oil in the second service because it was good as per the SVC.
Sprokets cost 4k and the chain costs 10k.

everything written here is from personal experience of riders in the Mumbai group which is 31 Member Strong and 95% are TNT 300

If you guys miss the scheduled service (every4 months/4k kms) will it void the warranty of the bike?
My point is after the first 3 or 4 services if it's just an engine oil change we can probably do it on our own and adjust the chain slack ourselves. No need to pay that hefty 1500 for labour.

                    Fuel Efficiency:

                    National highways/ open roads: 29-30 K pl

Bangalore traffic / within city limits: 23 K pl

                    Services completed: 3

                    Problems so far:

                    1. Fuse blew due to low beam bulb issue, which was covered under warranty

                    2. Low beam bulb went off. Bulb changed under warranty.

                    3. Low beam bulb flickering due to holder issue. Holder changed under warranty. They have assured me to give a new modified holder.

                    4. Noise, like a loose bolt, while increasing the throttle, prominently from left side. They tightened all bolts. Noise reduced almost to nil. However, has resurfaced again. Will attend to it during fourth service.

My Benelli is used extensively for rides and touring. In eight and a half months of ownership, motorcycle has been used in city and for office commute for about a month in total or say four weeks.

My opinion is, this motorcycle is meant for open roads and not for bumper to bumper traffic, as that will make temperature hover between 91 degrees to 94 degrees, consuming coolant in no time and you got to keep topping it up.

So, my Benelli will not get a taste of bumper to bumper traffic any more unless while going to service center and some emergencies.

Brake pads, sprockets, tyres are all still good. Time to hit road again: http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/tourer/3...orcycling.html

The meter console isn't that bad as the reviews say. Have they upgraded it?

It is simple and not bad at all. According to me only miss is the gear indicator.
