Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
I actually meant Hornet. Please ignore the typo.Originally posted by gowthamh View PostBut the beast look will be gone
Considering the head Turner look of hornet, we can somehow tolerate this lesser low end grunt performance...[My Motorcycles]

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
I rode my friend's Hornet again yesterday and really felt the need for a kill switch in traffic. Also, he seems to have changed the chain to a new one from 2018 and the sluggishness seems to have somewhat disappeared.Originally posted by gowthamh View PostFine
then my reply is correct
Now, coming back to that kill switch, even Hero is offering it on Xtreme. What's wrong with Honda anyway? Is it too much to ask?[My Motorcycles]

This particular question u have to ask with Honda bike designersOriginally posted by Bismaya View PostI rode my friend's Hornet again yesterday and really felt the need for a kill switch in traffic. , don't know why they are not providing it for a premium bike like hornet ..I think even Xblade don't have

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
I think CBR 250R is the only one to have it. That's a really bad move. It's a small feature and doesn't require much effort to add. I've seen people add kill switches from FZ/Pulsar into Hornets, xBlades and Unicorn.Originally posted by gowthamh View PostThis particular question u have to ask with Honda bike designers

Gear shift indicator is the one I like much...

Features aren't consistent I guess. At this rate, it'll take them years to make the Hornet as reliable as the Uni 150 (a gem of a machine).Originally posted by gowthamh View PostAm ok with on/off by turning off key

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
Hey guys just serviced my bike at 13000 kms...
Opened the clutch side and cleaned the stainer screen, also the gasket seemed good so i used it again.... Wasn't able to open the stainer screen area as the nuts there were too tight only one was opening...
Regardless... You need 8mm t-screw socket opener to open the clutch case... But first before that remove the kick and after that there is a little plate behind that with 2 screws which would hinder the opening of clutch so remove those screw and remove the part i don't remember what it's called... You'll mostly need 11mm,12mm,13mm spanner in these... I don't remember the order for these...
I changed to tvs fullys synthetic 10w30 for the winters and changed the spark plug to tvs apache 160/180 twin spark head plug....
It all works fine...
One problem I'm having is bike making khar khar noise maybe due to lose valve...
Can anyone suggest me how to adjust those...
Our valve adjustment should be done by certified mechanic...??
Item changed or replaced
1. Air filter rs 116
2. Engine oil rs 570
3. Spark plug rs 115
4. Engine oil drain washer rs 2
I wanted to clean the centrifugal oil filter but will have it cleaned by next service by my trusted outside mechanic...

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
You did the wise thing. If I were you, I would gone ahead and stripped/damaged those screws. The key to open adamant screws is to 1) use an impact drive, or 2) use the correct size screwdriver that fits the screw's "+" 100% and apply some force towards the screw while trying to turn it - this prevents the "jumping out" of the screwdriver and damage.Originally posted by adityagaur51 View PostHey guys just serviced my bike at 13000 kms...

That plate is the kick starter limiter. Usually odd numbers except 17 mm for some drain bolts are not used in bikes. They are mostly even - 8,10,12 and so on.there is a little plate behind that with 2 screws which would hinder the opening of clutch so remove those screw and remove the part i don't remember what it's called... Everything including engine re-build can be done by anyone, it just needs a tinge of passion and proper tools. Feeler gauge must. Our valve adjustment should be done by certified mechanic...??
Valve adjustment in Hornet:
An excellent read for understanding
That's quite cheap. Good, Honda.1. Air filter rs 116
No harm, you can get it done at next service. Your local mechanic will easily remove those screws. If possible, ask him to tutor you the knack of opening those screws.I wanted to clean the centrifugal oil filter but will have it cleaned by next service by my trusted outside mechanic...

From the videos i see valve adjustment seems pretty easy if you have the right tools....
Can you explain the difference b/w tappet adjustment and valve adjustment.. ???
Next thing in major service would be to change my chain set ... 2 services prior there was a need for chain replacement but my trusted mechanic cut one link from the chain and made it a jugaad to run little longer ...

I DIND'T CLICK ANY PICTURES .. BUT EARLIER AT 6000 KMS AT SECOND SERVICE I CLEANED THE STRAINER SCREEN BY MYSELF FOR THE FIRST TIME , THE ASC WEREN'T WILLING TO DO THE SAME...Originally posted by #bpk View PostHow was the condition of the strainer, any pic with dirt accumulation?
I ALSO POSTED EARLIER IN THE THREAD WITH PICTURES.... I WOULD SAY IT'S IMPERATIVE TO CLEAN YOUR OIL STRAINER SCREEN BY FIRST OR SECOND SERVICE AS THE METAL SHAVINGS ARE QUITE ENOUGH TO SLOW OR BLOCK THE FLOW OF OIL AS CAUSED DUE TO SETTLING OF ENGINE AND PISTON RINGS...

HAVENT RUN ENOUGH WITH THIS OIL TO GIVE A JUSTIFIED REVIEW BUT IT SEEMS GOOD ENOUGH FOR NOW AS IT'S FS ...Originally posted by #bpk View PostHow's your experience with tvs oil.
ALSO TVS FS 10W30 IS BETTER THAN YAMALUBE FS 10W40..
YAMALUBE FS DOES'T SEEM A PROPER FS TO ME ...
COST OF YAMALUBE FS RS 405 AND COST OF TVS FS10W30 RS 570..
FOR SUMMERS YAMALUBE SEEMS PRETTY GOOD AS IT'S VALUE FOR MONEY..
BUT I WOULD SAY USE CHEAP GOOD OIL BUT KEEP THE DRAIN INTERVAL FOR OIL CHANGE SHORT....
AFTER 2000KMS ANY OIL STARTS TO DEGRADE ... ALSO IF YOU AREN'T COMFORTABLE WITH SOME EXPERIMENTATION THE HONDA THROTTLE FS 10W30 IS THE BEST NEXT TO MOTUL 7100 AND 300VLast edited by adityagaur51; 12-02-2018, 10:57 AM.
