• Chain maintenance cost

Hello Hornet owners!

How much cost and time for chain cleaning, oiling, lubing and tightening?

Last lubing I had done at 1st service at 630 km. Now it's more than 9 weeks and total running 1800 km.

Please advice me on this. Thank you.

• New Honda CB Hornet 160 R advertisement

Honda india has added a new advertisement video for hornet 160R in their youtube channel. It shows making process, quality checks etc side by side to how muscle is developed in the Gym, looking very good. Hope it hits tv soon and takes on Fazer in TV as well.

Not to forget now Gixxer is available with rear disc version. So, competition will be more tougher.

• Quick review after 2K completion

I have completed 2K with one service @800Km. Bike is performing well and responsive. Before service there was some lack in power but after it, bike is just great.
With everyday, I am getting more confidence with my bike on steep turn and with quick acceleration.
Handling couldn't be better. Combi break has saved me from an accident when a pedestrian suddenly came in front and who was crossing the road without looking at traffic.
I was with pillion and able to stop the bike without an inch of skid.

Mileage in city traffic: 50+ easily, may be little more.

HI guys, it's my new entry in xbhp as a proud owner of CB Hornet 160R which i got in hand 19th of last month and was eagerly waiting till my 1st servicing so that i may contribute my experiences with this bike. First of all i would like to thank n congratulate all the owners shared their knowledge n experiences which helped me a lot beforehand.
As many have reported already after the first service i also feel that the bike is going to smoother day by day.The gear shifting is also very smooth and the CBS system is working awesome this days.Fortunately i haven't encountered with the problem of cold start yet.And for the knocking sound that reported earlier and the vibration on the foot peg is also going low.Hope those sound and vibration will be less with more kms good quality engine oil. As for only 800+ kms it's giving me 52+ milage which is a decent one for the new engine. Hope to get some more after the engine is set. Nevertheless i'm quite happy right now with this one as i hadn't so smooth riding experience with my previous bikes.
Thanks a lot to everybody again...

Zero cost @ Honda service centre based on my experience. I have done twice in my 3,600 km ride.

Guys,

This is my first post in xBHP.. i was quite confused with gixxer (really loved the bike) and Hornet.

But i have finally decided to go with Hornet.

I am from chennai and can someone tell me how much it costed to buy Hornet (STD or CBS) and from where you got the vehicle.

As far as i have asked, people are quoting the amount differently from showroom to showroom.

Thanks for your time.

I just wanted to share info regarding the engine oil change. Had my first service @ ~ 870 km.
As of last Friday, I had completed ~ 3500 km. I had planned for another long ride again to Chennai. So just thought of lubing the chain & tightening if necessary. Also thought of changing the engine oil. The Honda service guy was never willing to change the engine oil & he insisted me to change @ ~5000-5500 km as this oil will be changed only every 6000 km. Also he told it is just additional cost with no value addition. So just to convince myself, I asked him to check the oil status, it was still pure in golden yellow colur... no blackish & the viscosity also found to be good. He confidently told with this oil it can easily go another 2000 km without any issue. I am also convinced.

My riding speed so far @ 60-65 km/hr in the city & once long ride to Chennai at constant speed of 80-90 km/hr. (So just to my opinion the stock engine oil also no complaints.) any feedback/comments are welcome.

So I have just told him to clean and lube the chain. They took no cost for this. Hope this helps someone regarding the engine oil change at lower odo reading than that is specified in the manual.

wdrwilfred did they put Honda Throttle or Honda mineral oil?
If the oil costed you around 300, then it is mineral. And using mineral for so long and the oil to remain golden yellow is just unbelievable.

For me Honda mineral used to turn dark and watery by the 1800km mark. Due to this I am convinced that the 6000km oil change interval is too long.

Which service centre did you visit? I will never go back to the Honda ASCs at KR Puram, Binnamangala and Old Airport Road.
