Grinding noise when decelerating is common.it occurs when you don't match revs with gear during engine braking.check with other bikes in friend circle like fz etc.

Hey bro just got my Hornet 160R 2 days back, i agree with the break pad screech sound that u said, even am facing the same issue not while applying breaks but when u ride the bike a minor sounds comes from the rear disc break. Have shown my bike into the service centre and other mechanics in my area too they said its normal and happens with every new bike. As the Disc breaks and linear are new it takes time to get it smoother. Once u ride the bike and make it free it will eventually go so nothing to worry about !!

My problem is different. The grinding noise is loud (some kind of a trrrrr noise, looks like something in the engine is loose) and it's something in the engine. Along with that problem the engine always feels rough and harsh. Mileage hovers between 35-43 always. I've checked other Unicorns and Hornets, and only mine is rough and has that grinding sound. The sound is always there while decelerating from any gear, engine hot or cool, blipping or no blipping.
All these symptoms appeared after the first service. I expected increased smoothness, but instead got a rough and harsh feeling bike with a host of issues.

          7100... u still using it
I changed to mineral. That oil is tad heavy. Acceleration drop. Top speed reduced also mileage drop.

ONLY it is good for high temperature rides. Way a lot smoother engine .. even in high revs. Oil is good no doubt but ONLY summers.

Currently using Throttle 10w30.. it's fantastic. Try it

Got my Hornet 160R CBS Variant 2 days back would like to share my experience of this new bike

                  1) Superb Engine power bike is really smooth, with no vibrations at all currently maintaining the RPM between 3-4 but ya bike runs like a chow

                  2) Gear Pads are hard to change as the bike is new, but day by day is getting smoother as is use to ride it 7 km per day

                  3) Drawback for the bike is is was previously using Apache RTR 180 which was a short handle bike and use to ride that bike 90km at a stretch, but in Hornet this thing would not be possible as the handle is bit broader. So those who are familiar with the short Handel Hornet might be a problem it gives a bit pain on the shoulder when u ride it for a stretch for half hour.

                  4) Mileage is still unknown or me but am expecting it between 45-50 kmph in city.

                  5) Most importantly in CBS variants, from the rear side bit screech sound is normal when the bike is new, as said by the mechanics and from the service centres that when the bike is new the rear disc break are broader so eventually when u ride the bike for like 200 km the disc pads will get big rougher and the sound will go off.

                  6) Important thing to notice that the Hornet 160R does not have a chain cover, yes guys so this thing u need to mark. As there is no chain cover sound from the chain would be a normal thing to come but not as much as the Bajaj Pulsar bikes.

                  7) Honda Hornet 160R does not provide a leg guard if u want u can buy separately from local dealers or from the Service centre . i got it for 500 bucks.

In hyderabad, I got the leg guard by default.

1L during oil change, 1.2L if engine is opened.

I am a proud owner of a pearl white Honda Hornet too!

Before I post anything about the bike I am troubled that the dealer has provided me with a Hindi only manual which isn't easy for me to grasp and understand. Despite my repeated requests they are unable to source one in English. I remember a fellow owner has also been provided with a Hindi only manual.
My purchase experience has also been pathetic!

I dislike Honda's policy of issuing either Hindi or English only manual when most other companies such as Hero or Maruti Suzuki always provide both languages instructions very clearly side by side. Though the graphics are self explanatory they are not enough for a complete non technical person like me

I am unable to find any pdfs or manuals online related to the Hornet or Unicorn 160r for that matter.
I am quite affected as I am very slow at reading Hindi and i am missing out on important details and instructions related to the bike. (Apologies - I know Hindi is the national language but my bad I could not excel in it)

I would really appreciate if somebody could please send snaps from pages 1 - 90 and upload it on the forum or send on my personal id. This would be of immense help!

This is my humble request if fellow owners could contribute atleast 10 pages - 2 pages on a single snap beginning from the index.

My buying experience has been really bad. And I don't intend to go to the said dealer - Pilot Honda for servicing too.
However the bike in question is amazing and the only saving grace! Have completed 170 kms so far!

PS : Have bought Motul Chain Spray that I intend to use once a week as advised by the mechanic
