Costlier than Bajaj, but much cheaper than Hero.Originally posted by Motomonster View PostIt sure looks hot sir.do you mean the disc plate costs 965 rupees ,if yes then is it overpriced or comparable to competition.i don't have idea about spare part costs but I heard Honda parts are costly.
For instance, ZMR rotor costs 1700 rupees and pads cost 1200.Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
Congrats for the new honda hornet 160rOriginally posted by nomadic View PostI am a proud owner of a pearl white Honda Hornet too!
Before I post anything about the bike I am troubled that the dealer has provided me with a Hindi only manual which isn't easy for me to grasp and understand. Despite my repeated requests they are unable to source one in English. I remember a fellow owner has also been provided with a Hindi only manual.
My purchase experience has also been pathetic!
I dislike Honda's policy of issuing either Hindi or English only manual when most other companies such as Hero or Maruti Suzuki always provide both languages instructions very clearly side by side. Though the graphics are self explanatory they are not enough for a complete non technical person like me
I am unable to find any pdfs or manuals online related to the Hornet or Unicorn 160r for that matter.
I am quite affected as I am very slow at reading Hindi and i am missing out on important details and instructions related to the bike. (Apologies - I know Hindi is the national language but my bad I could not excel in it)
I would really appreciate if somebody could please send snaps from pages 1 - 90 and upload it on the forum or send on my personal id. This would be of immense help!
This is my humble request if fellow owners could contribute atleast 10 pages - 2 pages on a single snap beginning from the index.
My buying experience has been really bad. And I don't intend to go to the said dealer - Pilot Honda for servicing too.
However the bike in question is amazing and the only saving grace! Have completed 170 kms so far!
PS : Have bought Motul Chain Spray that I intend to use once a week as advised by the mechanic

Recently even i had a very bad experience while purchasing relaunched honda unicorn 150 from pilot honda
I am confused whether to go at pilot honda service center for my honda unicorn first servicing.

Yes bro am getting the same sound from the rear side, shown to service center they said that its normal as the bike does not have any chain cover so chain noise is common. When i ride the bike it sort of comes but not that much. Specially i hear the sound in silent area when i use to ride the bike.

Am facing the same issue bro, ya its a drawback but the noise of the chain is completely normal as the bike does not come with the chain cover.

If you value peace of mind then avoid Pilot! I had such a bad purchasing experience that I have vowed never to even go to either of their service centers - be it Chembur or Bhandup. I have had far better purchase experience while buying my humble Passion Xpro or Splendor from Hero.
Though I believe in the western suburbs things could be a bit better - you could try Om Sai or 21 Honda. But please cross check online reviews about the same thoroughly! You wouldn't want to damage your new bike permanently at their hands.
However I am not too keen on the stock mineral 10w30 oil of Honda - I wish to put a semi synthetic or fully synthetic oil and wish to skip using this as it has not bought the best performance on my Passion Xpro - i have completed 26,000 kms in 1.5 years and have used this devotedly. However I realised they don't really do a great job at the service center. Every time at the service center there would be an extra scratch, or the bike would perform poorly. Or something would be amiss. They would push unnecessary jobs to increase the cost and it would actually deteriorate the bike more.
Consciously now I wish to skip going to the service center for the Hornet as I want to refer the manual and use better quality consumables. I trust my mechanic of 7 years more than the service center. I am not so confident of Honda after sales in Mumbai at least going by reviews online.

Thank you - I have observed black, orange and red are most popular in Hornets at least in Mumbai. I really wanted one in white . It isn't so popular. Must have seen 2 so far in 3 months! In fact I willingly took the display vehicle as they did not have stock of white.

I have covered some 275 kms on my Hornet so far. The first 80 kms were noisy because of the chain..specially on silent roads - and it didn't feel like a new bike at all. However my trusted mechanic advised me to keep spraying slight chain lube of any reputed brand once a week or 10 days. But ensure that the chain is clean. So one can use a hard brush to get rid of dirt or mud and then spray gently. Not too much.
I have bought a Motul chain lube (be careful it can be mistaken for a regular deo spray!) and voila all the chain noise has vanished since then! Attaching pictures of the same. A must recommend! Today's continuous 120 kms ride was delightful despite the humidity and heat. Maintained a steady 45 - 60 kph at 4000 to 5000 rpm. Hope that is fine for run in period.

Not too much. You might want to use the Motul chain clean or WD40 or Kerosene to clean prior to lube. Run the bike for a little while. Once the chain is run ... spray the chain clean generously. Let it stay and then clean with a brush. After the chain is clean then use the spray away from the wheel assembly. After the whole chain is lubed ... spin the wheel and magic.Originally posted by appsvasan View PostHi bro how to lube pls explainWhen I'm on the road, I'm indestructible. Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
I would say - don't spin the wheel for a couple of hours after lubing. Let it stick. Else it will fling off and make rims dirty. Best time is to lube the chain at night prior to sleeping.Originally posted by Naveen Vajja View PostAfter the whole chain is lubed ... spin the wheel and magic.Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

Just recently i serviced my bike from Pilot chembur.
They r experts in activa.
After service feedback -
My front coneset making noise.
Clutch setting apathetic. I literally miss gears. Altho i had warned them not to fiddle with my clutch setting.
Pick up drop. Altho Honda throttle oil is doing a good job
When i told them the snags .. they wer like -- SirG chalta hai. Achi toh chalri hai.
I said. Boss I m riding my bike for 5000kms now post first service. So i know how my bike shud behave and how it is behaving after ur service .
Totally appalling. I just convinced myself to do the servicing from my good frnd who is a mechanic. Who personally owns r15s and duke. He does the job better.
I m done with SVC fellows now.
Ride safe bro.

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
You have perfectly described a nightmare that I am expecting at any Honda service center. It is sad that they have tampered with your bikes clutch setting and spoilt the whole joy of riding the bike. I do not know what is the front coneset? How is it making noise now?Originally posted by Zeit View PostBro very true.

How much does the Throttle Honda Oil cost? Is it better than the regular 10w30 Honda oil?
Good you have decided to do away with the service centers. In my opinion most of them are newbie mechanics hired locally who gain experience through trial and error basis on the customers bike.
I am so skeptical that I don't even want to do the first service from any of the dealers. Is it advisable?
My bike is running perfectly fine. And I don't want them to tamper or fiddle with the stock settings.Last edited by nomadic; 05-14-2016, 12:27 PM.

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
Hi Nilyaen,Originally posted by Nilayen16 View PostHi everyone, return with some quaries n facts that i noticed regarding my bike. I told previously that post 1st service experience was just awesome in respect of gear shifting and FE. But what I've noticed that after 60-65k/hr i feel a vibration in the handle bar and it persists till 95k/hr which i clocked highest. Is it same with others? Many in this forum have clocked this speed and more many times. What's their experience? Is their any unusual sound n vibration noticed from the engine? Please share your experience n knowledge in this matter. Thanks in advance.
Yes, you're right. After 6500 RPM, engine starts making very harsh noise. It persists till 8000 RPM. Between 70-90 kmph.
I assume that's powerband of Hornet, that's why. Better stick to 60-65 kmph or cross 85 kmph. Otherwise, bike vibrates a lot.
After 90 kmph, Hornet makes boom type deep sound, which isn't unsettling like harsh noise.
----consecutive posts auto-merged-----
Hello all riders!
On what intervals you replace/refill engine oil? My dipstick indicates near to minimum level oil.
Does riding at higher speeds (60-90) reduces oil level faster? In general my avg speed above 40, mainly highway riding.
Currently my chain slackness is about 3.5 cm and manual says it should be between 1.5-2.5 cm. How much will it cost at service center?
Peace!
Ride hard, Ride safe! :D

Topup oil. chain tightening should be free at service center or max 20 rupees. You can get it tightened by local mechanic.Originally posted by vaRider View PostHi Nilyaen,
