After sales experience is dependent on the service center. When I went for test rides of different bikes I found Suzuki and hero's experience to be much better .bajaj and Yamaha didn't even give test ride and never called me back.you may also consider Suzuki gixxer ,it is an excellent bike with a couple of shortcomings .
yeah Motomonster. Gixxer was my first choice. The only thing which went against it is the pillion seat. My wife is not at all comfortable in it. Her brother have a Gixxer. So thats why I am looking between FZ and Hornet.

I am commuting 30 kms to office (10 km in small roads (20feet - so traffic) and 20 km (100 feet roads - less traffic). Should be able to have a comfortable seating for pillion (especially with one sided seating).

With these, which one you will recommend ( i know i am asking in Hornet forum,, hopefully people wont biased information..

For single sided hornet is better than fz.

i changed it in a local mechanic garage..i know they will never accept to pour my oil..so didnt wasted time on going and checking with them..any one using honda throttle 10-30 fs over here ? if so how do you feel at highway/long drive with that oil ? do u get any knocking sound post 5k rpm like in mineral or its good at any situations ?

Hmm, it's not of much concern to me, i was also thinking same about it but i don't think it's common to all bikes. May be it gets settle down after some years or specific to some bike category. This comes even on very short rides of 1 km.

I have been riding for around 17 years and i have never experienced this in earlier bikes, all the bikes were of capacity below 150 cc, mostly yamaha gladiator and hero honda cd 100 ss, both of them are still with me .

I would simply rule out FZ. Though it has the FI, it's very much out of competition now, the competition is between gixxer and hornet now in terms of power and feature. Since, you are not in favor of gixxer, i would suggest hornet.

Despite the FI, the fe is very very less with the FZ, it gives around 25 kmpl as per some of my friends, engine power is also less compared to other two, the engine is also old and hornet, gixxer are better looking, it's very common also. On the other side, yamaha ages very well (i have my 7 year old gladiator which looks as new) and quality of switch gears are very good.

Check for comparison reviews between the three, most of them suggest hornet or gixxer.

If you can afford i would recommend to get bike with higher power i.e. with cc above 200 and horse power above 20 bhp, if you intend to use for touring etc. Ktms and bajaj NS are of very value for money. I have joined our local xbhp community few days back and it's recommended by most of the members.

That metal contracting sound isn't there in my CD100SS as well. But it's common in newer 4 strokes, especially the air cooled ones.

it's the metal contracting of exhaust pipe/catcon , more pronounced when the bike is new. (its not from the 'engine' i.e. crankcase/bore/head)
perfectly normal.

Thanks for that clarification. That clears most of the thing about me setting to a bike.

Now is it possible to add a Gear Indicator to Hornet, Has anyone done it.

Will it void my warranty if it is done via Honda showroom itself. Whether Honda service will do it?

I don't know whether it is possible or not but it is simply not worth the effort.

You can get it done at any local stickering shop where number plate stickering etc are done. It costed me Rs 40 for both.

It would be better to get it done at shop then trying dyi as putting the straight sticker at circular rims may be difficult and if width is not consistent it will not look good on close looks.

Already using throttle. Engine idling is lot more smoother. Also bike runs smoother. Little pickup drop. Maybe bcoz of svc guys changed my settings. Overall i am happy

Once is reset back to my clutch and timing setting i can post detailed review of throttle oil. As of now what i can say is SUPERB OIL .

How many km u hv done with throttle oil ? Do u hear the slight grinding noise when u leave the throttle in 2 nd and 3 rd gear and allow the bike to run with its own momentum. With Mineral oil I was getting FE of 52 plus but engine was grunting after running for more than 20 kms .Now it feel better with less grunting at higher rpm but I hear slight grinding from clutch side when bike is slow and throttle is released.

I've now used Motul 7100 for around 2000km. Cost me 750 at Motorcycle House, Bangalore. It's slightly expensive, but it's good.

It's wonderful for highway rides. No heating and engine feels fresh even after riding a long distance. Vibrations have reduced even more, especially at the pegs. Gear shifts are smoother than in mineral. Engine feels more grunty and wants to be revved more (reduces smoothness a little).

But in heavy traffic, engine heats up a little. But there is no change in the character of the engine and gearbox unlike when I was using mineral.

souravvr after I complete around 4k km with this oil, I'm giving the bike to Top gear Honda world for the grinding sound. It's been bugging me from after the first service and I can hear it at all gears. I'll let you know if they manage to fix this along with a host of other problems I'm facing.
